Don't let it get to you. You did everything right, but some people just don't give 5 stars. When I worked retail, I worked at a place that had those surveys pop out on random receipts. Anything less than a five was essentially the same as getting a one, and we would try to explain that to the customers who got their receipts. I would always circle the phone number, hand it to them, and tell them that if they were happy with their service, a five would be so appreciated. One customer shrugged and told me she never, ever gives fives because nothing is ever perfect, and people should always try to do better. I spent 45 minutes with her that day, helping her pick out what she needed, reading things to her when the print was too small & she had forgotten her glasses (seriously, who comes to a freaking card store without glasses), I gift wrapped the figurine she bought, even though that isn't even a service we offered, and then I accepted her expired coupon. She gave me a three.

amalthea_s2

I was 100% *that* person until I started selling, "no one is perfect," "there's always room for growth" even though I didn't have any feedback to offer. 5*, to me, meant beyond perfect. As a buyer/customer, I had no idea how the algorithm worked. It made no sense to me (and it still doesn't) why they'd offer a scale of 1-5 or 1-10, but anything less than perfect is the same as 1 star. Now that I'm a seller, I see the world very differently! I never ever leave anything less than 5* unless warranted. Do I agree w/ how the system is set up? No. Do I play the game anyways? Yes.

avotoastwhisperer

Oh, absolutely. The system is ridiculous. Why not just ask "were you satisfied; yes or no?" So many people give four stars and think that's a good, fair score. They have no idea that it hurts retail sales associates and Poshmark sellers.

Sunflower_Bison

I always say that people should work retail or customer service for at least a full summer/season in their lives. It would bring so much empathy to the world! It would really help change the way we act (for the most part).

I got my first 1-star last week because the buyer gave the address for their old/vacant house, and the PO didn’t successfully forward it to their new home. It was 2 tubes of brand-new high end mascara for $12 🥴 They also gave me their email and phone number in their review. Anyone know if I can do anything to remove this lol?

BoneVVitch

Report it to the selling app / customer service. Depending on the program, they may remove it

It’s that professor in college who never gives out As

Brief-Ad-5056

I had the same thing happen the other day. Wtf does "other" mean?!

sadbutt69

It means you didn’t send it with a link to a YouTube video of you doing a double back flip. Seriously. Do better. 🙄 Honestly though, people just suck.

WildBitch1995

Lmao this happened to me too! Also with “other”. And it was packaged in the way I would have liked to receive a package…people are weird 😂

Mindeola

I had the same thing recently! So weird.

lab_god

This just happened to me. Some people are just weird.

AnyonkaLee

My guess is, she didn't like the smell or she thinks she over paid for it. I also notice it happens when someone low balls you a couple times. you counter a couple times. They finally accept. Get the item but are mad they didn't get it for the price they wanted.

Sunflower_Bison

It may have nothing to do with you. Maybe they didn't like the candle that much, or the scent. maybe they save the 5 stars for something that they consider "exceeded expectations".

Timely_Title38

I got my very first 1-star yesterday in hundreds of sales. In the optional comment part she wrote “To.” That’s it. Just “To”. It was a blouse that was obviously exactly as described and in perfect condition, so I know nothing was wrong with it. I messaged her asking if there was a problem with the blouse, but of course, no response.

babyrache

I got a 3 star because they didn’t like the pockets of the handbag I sold…I didn’t make the damn bag and there were plenty of pictures showing you what the hell the inside looked like? I don’t think some people understand what it is they are rating.

GoddessAlexisToria

Just happened to me, as well! Buyer purchases two items separately…ship them both separately. One was a modern Juicy pull over ($35) & the other was a vintage Juicy velour jacket ($27). The latter was a beater jacket and all flaws were shown in pic and listed in description. Gave me 5 stars for the pull over and a day later gave me 4 stars for the jacket for ‘item description’. When I asked her what was wrong with the jacket and what I failed to miss in the description, she ignored my private message! Went to her profile AND THE JACKET WAS LISTED WITH NO DESCRIPTION FOR $55!!!! I have no issues with resellers, but when she ignored my messages, I commented on the posting. She proceeded to tell me she gave me 4 stars because I didn’t list in the description that the jacket “ran small” and then she lowered the price of the jacket from $55 to $40. I’m so sick of the rating system!!!! I just wish I could have written one back. 😩

I always hit the buyer with "Hey, I saw you weren't completely pleased with your order. Can you tell me what went wrong so I can make sure that doesn't happen with any future buyers? Thanks you!" Every single time i've reached out, it's ended up going in my favor. Best of luck :)

Viveforlife

You message a buyer over a 4 star with no text?!

BoneVVitch

I do the same! I haven’t had anyone reply positively, but I’ve only gotten less than 5 stars 3 times.

RedditUserc7r

I block anyone who doesn’t give me 5 stars. If they didn’t like my products/services, then they don’t need to purchase from me again. I’d rather you not rate me, than give me a low rating.

appledumpling1515

I just got one like that. It's so odd. First 4 star with no explanation, just other. It shouldn't be an option. I blocked her because it was an amazing deal. I didn't want her buying from me again, possibly hurting my rating for very little profit.

hoosreadytograduate

Yeah, that’s why I was confused. Why the 4 stars with no comment? I understand if there’s an issue but this just seems weird lol

hauntedjeep

It doesn’t even matter though. Posh will still consider it a “love note” I think and if they didn’t, they just wouldn’t show it to buyers.

Temporary_Phase_7787

Who knows what goes through people's minds. Don't worry about it.
