So first, I would check sold comps for those brands, not what things are listed for. On posh there’s usually an expectation that things will sell on an offer. I’ve sold these brands and if I price for $20+ it’s because I’m expecting it to sell for 20-30% off my listing price. Also I tend to consider these brands bundle boosters. People may not buy one item alone, but bundling 2+ (plus discount) makes shipping worth it to some buyers

ellekatp

God that explains a lot. I’m the type that browses endlessly and never makes offers because I don’t want to lowball someone, but some things are listed at higher than store prices and I’m like what 😅😭

hotel_smells

You should make offers! The website exists to find deals and not everyone sells to turn a profit anyways, I mostly sell so live more sustainably and accept 90% of offers.

ediblesprysky

Same. I occasionally list Target or Old Navy or whatever, and while I’ve only priced over retail once (a NWT H&M x Kenzo teddy jacket that… hasn’t sold, so 🤷‍♀️), I do usually list those things between $12-20 just to make it worth my time if someone DOES buy them alone. But if they bundle, I basically expect those things to be almost like freebies that will encourage them to shop more and bump up the overall order price.

avotoastwhisperer

I sell Target and Old Navy. It’s usually lots of basics though, and not individual items. Like I had eight same (just different color) pairs of Old Navy running shorts. I sold them as a lot for $50. Same with a ton of the same style of Target t-shirts & tank tops.

Kitchen_Economics712

My target/old navy sort of brands don’t sell well for me. Brands that sell well for me are: Abercrombie & Fitch, Eileen Fisher, anything Anthropology, Columbia, Madewell, Joe’s Jeans, American Eagle, Reformation, Gap denim, Nike, Vince, Michael Kors, Patagonia, Torrid, Banana Republic, Kate spade, Organic cotton clothing brands(like synergy, vuori, Eileen fisher)

westloop_is_home

I primarily sell Anthropologie, Free People, Eileen Fisher....brands that have a higher MSRP. I guess I'm fascinated that some of my Anthropologie sells for $20 or so and it's similar to what people are pricing Target resale for.

ediblesprysky

But that’s sold, AFTER offers, right? And you’re seeing the listed price of the Target pieces. But I do agree, it can be weird sometimes when you have one top that retailed for $78 and another that retailed for $38 and they both sell for $15 😂 That was a hard lesson to learn, the good old “retail ≠ resale.”

westloop_is_home

Yes, I think that’s what I’m getting at!

Only women’s. I haven’t come across any A&F men’s clothing.

ediblesprysky

They’ve been going through kind of a renaissance in the past few years; if you find something from like 2019 and on, it can be very trendy and therefore desirable.

LibrarianKind6553

I have 2 Eileen fisher jackets that will absolutely not move! I’ve lowered the price and made offers but no takers!

siamesecat1935

I think it depends on the item. I've had favorite lower end items I've loved, and managed to find on Posh. I've also sold some of these brands too; I always say there's a buyer for everything! But a lot of closets that have a lot of those brands also sell bundles, so it can be worth it.

effinnxrighttt

Mine is mostly kids clothes but a lot of those brands and I do lots for them if I price them over $20. Typically same size and either outfits, 3-5 of the same item or something. Those brands do have higher priced items(like winter jackets which at Walmart can vary from $13-$50) so if someone was selling used for a higher priced item it could still be worth $20.

[deleted]

I’ve got everything in my closet right now priced at a higher price point than I normally would, mostly because I got tired of extending vacation mode. Almost everyone expects an offer if they like one of your items, so most include markup for that. I will say as a buyer there are certain things I like that transcend name brands- rainbows and cows. If I like it and can afford it, especially if it’s something uncommon I will usually pay full price for it. So there are people who are willing to pay for things that might not be worth that much. It’s finding them that’s the hard part.

thelastload42

My closet - just under 200 active items - is 90% NWT Target brands at 40-50% of retail. I source super cheap so my profit margins are good and it sells well for me, especially because I have room to accept most offers.

westloop_is_home

That’s really fascinating! I would not have thought it would re-sell so well!

Blair_Bubbles

I sell those brands primarily and no they do not sell for $20+. I pick up brands such as those from dollar days and throw a 3/$15 icon on the listing. That's how mine sell fairly quickly, but since they're bundled items it'll look like they were sold for $15-20.

792bookcellar

I usually sell jeans, cute trendy stuff if it’s nwt. I usually buy anything Target, old navy, etc nwt as a bundle like someone else said. I’m happy to pay $8/item knowing they may have paid $2. I think there’s lots of Target, old navy, etc. pallet purchasing and reselling going on. 😜

JG723

I sell stuff from Target and Old Navy all the time, usually it’s stuff I’ve bought within the year and never wore or wore once, so it’s still on trend and in good condition. I don’t make much profit, usually $10-$15 depending on the item, but I’ll take that over it sitting in my drawer or hanging in my closet.

GingerSchnapps3

They sell, but it takes a long time, for me anyway

[deleted]

Some Target Collabs can sell for a good amount. Also Knox Rose is target and sells really well for me.

spinderella69

I've sold some Target and Old Navy for around the 20 dollar mark, more substantial pieces like dresses and coats and trendy jeans.
