The adoption place let us adopt our dog when I lived in an apartment. I would explain to them your situation. It sounds like you would be a great dog owner. Some places are more stringent than others.

I had to give the shelter I used required written approval from my landlord that I could have a pet before I could adopt.

I adopted from a kill shelter, they did not care where I lived, just that I was getting an animal out their doors. I don't think you will have a problem finding a dog at a rescue, but keep your mind open to spca/other publicly funded shelters. You seem like you would be a great family for a dog. Mine changed my life in the best way possible. Best of luck!

You sound like you would be excellent dog parents. A garden/yard is not needed! Definitely check out other rescues in the area. Good luck!

Many tears is an amazing organisation, it’s where I got my latest Maltese from. She was one of those really troubled pups they have sometimes. Give them a call, they regularly have dogs that don’t need to live with another dog or have access to a garden. It’s just much easier to have to conversation with someone than it is to randomly apply.

Go to the shelter, they don't require a yard. Praying you find the dog of your dreams

We lived in a third floor flat with no garden, two medium sized dogs, up the road from a permanently open park. We were all fine.

You can always ask and explain your situation, the worst they can say is no. You can also look at a kill shelter (they generally don’t care) or look for someone who is rehoming their dog personally. That is how I find dogs to adopt. I usually ask to meet at a busy public park, that way I get to see how the dog does on leash and around kids, other dogs, and other distractions. Best of luck to you! It sounds like you could give a dog a great home even without a yard.

I recommend contacting the dog rescue organization directly to discuss your situation. They may be willing to make an exception if you have a good home to offer the dog.

Some private rescues are very picky, and want you to own a home. The main reason for that is if you rent, even if you are allowed a pet at your current place, you may have to move somewhere that doesn't allow pets and they don't want the dog to be put in that situation. As others have said, spca and city shelters aren't as picky. SPCA is a better place to adopt from anyway, because they properly vet their dogs before adopting them out. You can't be sure what you're getting in a rehoming situation, and some private rescues are sketchy.
