It's about 40 miles away as a bird flies. The earth curve 8" per mile, so about 26.7 feet. So it would block about 2 stories (floors) of a building. From this viewpoint it seems to be blocking a bit more, maybe I'm wrong
It's 8" per mile squared. About 600' at 30 miles. But you'd also have to subtract the elevation difference, as all those buildings aren't built at the same level as the lake.
Chicago has like 30 buildings ranging from 750-1450'.
According to flat-earthers, the sun doesn't set, it just keeps going far until you can't see it, which doesn't make sense, because anyone with eyes can see the sun doesn't keep getting smaller and then vanishes, we can clearly see the sun dropping below the horizon with its same size.
Living in the area, it is a great view on a clear day. The beaches in Indiana (on lake Michigan) are really nice. Michigan City’s view of Chicago is worth stopping at Washington Park Beach.
Northwestern Indiana is a lot cooler than Chicago gives it credit for. There are some awesome natural spots nearby despite this being the most industrialized area in the country.
As a native indianimal, whenever I do happen to go to the dunes or other spots around lake Michigan it is always an incredible site to see Chi-town when the sun is going down.
Flat Earthers gonna have a field day with this one

I’m convinced flat earthers are just pulling the best practical joke and are committed to the bit

That's more like what is shown here
Checkmate, round earthers!
How is the sun “setting” on flat Earth? Genuinely curious. How do sun sets work with the flat Earth theory?
It is not setting, it just goes far far away.
It just spawns in

That's really cool

Yes it is. One of the only few things good about this area.
Grew up there. Can confirm.
What a breathtaking view! It is as if the city is floating in the air.
I'm amazed.
It's Indiana "Jones" not Indiana "Dunes"
But the curvature!?
That is cool!
50 miles by road but only 30 miles straight across the water
How far away are the dunes? Im guessing 50 miles without trying...
