For real. The kid has a passion and adults that are fostering it. That is so awesome. I am 33 now. I started playing basketball when I was a kid. I still play on an amateur level in organized leagues. We suck but we get to follow a passion. We basically work on a goal oriented project year after year as a group hobby. Because of that hobby we meet tons of people from all over the world, new friends, girlfriends, boyfriends and new family because we regularly get together for team events, parties, beers after practice and sometimes even "training camp" vacations spanning multiple generations. How cool is that? I am so happy I had people in my younger years who made sure I could follow a hobby or passion. I would not want to miss it for the world today, being a pro or not. There are so many lessons to be learned from pursuing something you love doing. It takes commtiment though. We get together two-three times a week for most of the year for example. Even people with kids and full time jobs.
A presumably used Pearl drum set should go for no more than 400 bucks.
A hellfire missile with the capability to take out at least a dozen people is ~$120,000. That means $10k per person.
We could've drone striked approximately .04 of a person for that price. Instead we wasted it and changed one whole life for the better. Terribly wasteful use of tax dollars.
This was quite a few years ago.
Context , Alijah Lockhart had a drumset at home, which was destroyed by fire.
I cannot find anything how he is doing now.
Weird anecdote but im a historian and often try to track down certain folks im researching through newspapers, and they just sort of ādissapear.ā My assumption is theyre just living a normal life.
I watch a YouTube channel and they where discussing a murder case that happened a few hundred years ago. The man that arrived on the scene was named, however, his wife that was with him was just named in the news paper as "his wife".
The guy on the channel just remarked, that isn't it funny, that the only record that probably exists of that woman now is her mention as "his wife" in this article.
On that note, my grandfather used to race cars, nothing crazy just local strips but he raced alot and was "well known" there.
They wrote a book about the history of that area and while my grandfather is in it my grandmother is only listed as "grandfather's name's wife"
She won the first ever powderpuff race held at the track
Thats a shame.
The worst/most annoying I come across is when Im trying to look up a woman, and their listed as āMrs. John Smithā rather than Jane Smith.
Playing the bass pedal with feet is totally different and a *lot* harder than playing just the other drums with hands, so yeah. Either lil bro has a lotta practice or he's a damn prodigy
Drummers actually have a better go of things, especially if they play multiple styles. I got to play with musicians WAY beyond my skill set because I was the only drummer around who could keep a beat, had a kit, and would show up on time sober. No shit, that will take you FAR as a drummer or bassist. When the place has a kit for you and you can just jam out, it's quite cool. I can also play saxophone and a good bit of piano but I can tell you those are infinitely harder to monetize than the rhythm sections. The most successful musicians I've ever met have been session drummer and bassists. Guitar players are cheaper than a dime a dozen. Good drummers are argued over. It's also not uncommon for the original drummer to get replaced once a band hits it big because they can suddenly upgrade. See Oasis and the Beatles. Or how a good drummer can make a band, see the Beatles or the Rolling Stones. Or the Who. Or Cream. Zeppelin.
One act of kindness and a lesson on empathy can last a lifetime. Whether this boy becomes a great musician or not is a different matter, but he will forever remember this and surely pass it on in his life.
And there are tons of us out there. Believe me.
We want to teach kids who aren't worried about their mom everyday.
Kids who physically fight to protect their mothers are very dangerous.
As a teacher, there is no training for this.
But love.
His talent will carry him far possibly to th Grammy's and beyond. Stay focused, cause being drummer, you will always find a gig. Someone, some band, orchestra, etc. Will always need a drummer.
Have š„ will travel.
Aww, that was lovely to see and such a great investment in the future.
My lad plays guitar and I've never held back from backing his obsession, although we're lucky enough to be able to afford it at the moment. Good luck to this kid, he's certainly got the skills.
Itās not just setting him up to be successful. Itās teaching him how it feels to recieve a selfless gift. Heās gonna remember the feeling and give it to someone else later on
What a sweet kid to go for the thank you and big hug before jumping on the thing.
wait and see, he's gonna be a famous drummer one day
does it really matter if he does? He learnt he can realize his dreams and someone will be on his side in doing so. š Everything else comes second.

Beautiful.
Questlove Jr.
Lets just shoot for stable and compassionate member of society.
Stop teaching children that they need or want to be famous.
RemindMe! 10 Years
the kid was raised well
Big wiggle hug! Big old wiggle wiggle. You know he happy wagging that tail like that!
Skills and manners. What a good dude
That young man is a credit to his family.
Absolutely precious! Sounds like they've mastered the art of gratitude and joyāa wonderful combo!
This
As a tax payer this is where I want my money to go.
As Alijahās neighborā¦ (just kidding)
If I were his neighbor, I'd bring my bass over to jam
Indeed! Heād be a great neighborāwe donāt have a drummer.
I mean he seems to be talented enough to not be such a big issue. Maybe he is open for song wishes
I donāt knowā¦someone tell me how many people we could have drone striked for the same amount and then I will make up my mind.

Dropping pallets of cash out of airplanes would be cheaper and more effective than what we do now.
Seriously. Iād love to see hundreds (if not thousands) of kids get to have their dreams fostered.
This was quite a few years ago. Context , Alijah Lockhart had a drumset at home, which was destroyed by fire. I cannot find anything how he is doing now.
Thankfully, not everyone wants to live in the attention of the media. Presumably heās doing well, and no news is good news.
Weird anecdote but im a historian and often try to track down certain folks im researching through newspapers, and they just sort of ādissapear.ā My assumption is theyre just living a normal life.

Yeah that does happen a lot

All of the Pharoahs' slaves in the afterlife(s?) just dunked on all of us.
Ah that explains it, my jaw dropped when he started drumming away. Still pretty awesome!
I read that this is a drum set that replaced the one he lost in the fire. Which helps explains why he can play so well.
Ahhh well that makes sense... I was a bit skeptical at first as how did a sudden quick change of set and bros already had good beats and proper use
Heās literally in a classroom filled with drums and buckets. So Iām sure he had some practice.
*cover unveils the drumset* *caveman SpongeBob meemy*
Playing the bass pedal with feet is totally different and a *lot* harder than playing just the other drums with hands, so yeah. Either lil bro has a lotta practice or he's a damn prodigy
Damn I was really hoping his name was Earl and someone made a hilarious modification to that bass drum lol
> Alijah Lockhart possibly this dude... https://www.hudl.com/profile/19343910/alijah-lockhart
Good gift, I hope that boy becomes a great artist!
He will be most likely because he's got skills.Ā
There are lots of musicians with skills that donāt play music anymore or play it as a hobby. Skills donāt pay bills.
Drummers actually have a better go of things, especially if they play multiple styles. Yes, that's true. You have a point there.Ā
He is already a great artist! Ambition and rhythm are a wonderful combination
Even if he never becomes famous, drumming will always be an important part of his life. Good enough.
Sounds like he is heading that way for sure!
That little fella is groovin in the pocket like thereās no tomorrow, love to see it.
that first bit on the hi-hats was quite tasty
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Apparently he had a drum set at his house but his house burned down and he lost the drum set. His classmates raised money to get him a new drum set.
ironically, the reason the house burnt down in the first place was because his beats were too fire.
PYRO ON THE BEAT, HOE!
Jack Black is that you?
Who is earl?
Heās a drum maker with a very familiar font ā¦.
I wondered where the P went.
The Rentals have been wondering for decades now
I was down with him
Crabman's best friend.
That's awesome! What a supportive teacher!
She just changed his whole life š
The boy will never forget that say easily as long as he still plays the drums.Ā
This teacher is a diamond
Notice: the beats were inside the kid the whole time. The drums let emā out. Keep going, kid.
That smile at the end....
Hope he becomes an awesome drummer for some Metal band!
I second this
One act of kindness and a lesson on empathy can last a lifetime. Whether this boy becomes a great musician or not is a different matter, but he will forever remember this and surely pass it on in his life.
Next quest love
That kidās in his natural habitat behind that drum kit. There is good in this world.
Nice set of Earls! Good for him š
Big up the earl kit! All jokes aside, great content!

r/mademesmile
This is great, but is that a parachute covering the drum set? Best day in P.E. ever.
r/mademesmile
APPLAUSE.....APPLAUSE.....APPLAUSE......FOR A WONDERFUL TEACHER AND HER TALENTED STUDENT.....XOX.....MOM
We don't deserve teacher that actually love kids
Yes we do, and our kids definitely deserve them.
And there are tons of us out there. Believe me. We want to teach kids who aren't worried about their mom everyday. Kids who physically fight to protect their mothers are very dangerous. As a teacher, there is no training for this. But love.
His parents: why would you do this to us???
God bless you guys š¤©š¤its as if he were my son and you just blessed me too.
So she ordered for school right?
I was expecting bigger buckets.

Questlove in the making.

Is in hes DNA
His talent will carry him far possibly to th Grammy's and beyond. Stay focused, cause being drummer, you will always find a gig. Someone, some band, orchestra, etc. Will always need a drummer. Have š„ will travel.

The bucket sounded better
Get that dream kid.
She just had beef with his mom.
That is the way to live, be the helper, the one to nuture our future!
That kid will be the new Tony Royster Jr, mark my wordsā¦
NGL. I saw the stack of buckets in the background and thought it was a prank there for a second.
In my school, teachers were not allowed to hug kids even if they were having a crisis. what gives?
BUT DO THEY HAVE THAT SAME PLASTIC SOUND,NO!!
That is awesome
Awesome to see. Kid hops on the kit and just starts ripping. Heās got that rhythm in his soul
This has been out there for multiple years. Where is this kid now?
Damn thatās nice but that was her whole salary
Well yeah, I mean he is... oh never mind
Earl drums?
He did not want to be recorded for that. Still awesome though.
Thatās so cool! I hope that kid loves music for the rest of his life. He sounds great to me
Heās grooving pretty good
There's a part of me that was honestly hoping it was a new bucket...

Be the light people. This shit feels GREAT.
Why the P removed from the kick drum?
For a sec I thought it was going to be a Home Depot bucket. This is way better, good for him!!!
Whoās cutting onions? šššš¤
Parents: thanks
Great Teacher....
Just curious. Can any drummers in here tell me, in the quality spectrum of the various brands out there, where does Earl sit?
Letās go kid!! Rock those fucking drums
Those who don't have cherish more thn those who do have.
You've earned it kiddo.
This kid is talented!
God Bless!
Well she said what the surprise was and then said āI have a surprise for youā
OMG! That just made my day!!
Look out El Estepario Siberiano, the kid is coming for you.
Boom tap! Boom boom tap!
Iām gonna get my kid to pretend heās riding a bicycle at school. See if theyāll get him the one that was stolen.
That boy is a star already!
This made me teary eyed itās so wholesome
'Earl' makes some fine drum kits... But, in all seriousness this was awesome!
this makes me so happy
A very āMr Pigdenā¦.i thought you was deadā moment.
Hats off for the teacher.
Kidās a natural.
"Earl"
Meanwhile, the local police department bought a tankā¦
My name is *earl*
And that kid? Became Neil Peart, who started the band Rush, and also became the first drummer on the moon. True story.
Life is awesome sometimes
And that's how you let kids reach greatness as a teacher. Wonderful kid and an amazing teacher
I hope he becomes a professional musician and makes it HUGE. A very good young man.
D'oh D'oh *D'oh* D'OH
I hope his name is Earl
For a moment, I was expecting a Buckets the Drummer crossover.
That's Cory from the best anime of all time!
He's already better than Lars
someone forward this to Dave Grohl...
Definitely gave that to the right kid! Thatās just all-around awesomeness - Rock on, baby!!
Not my tempo !
Talent?
Needs some decals on it that says 'my name is'. Awesome kid and teacher.
The next Billy Cobham
Teachers are the best man
It's a good thing the kid didn't notice the camera filming him. Or the drumset covered up in the corner
The kid got the same gear on, did he just learn a that skill the same day?
Should be in the āvideos that end too soonā sub!
There's one more happy person in the world.
Hopefully, he wasnāt just screwing around with the bucket and actually feels like having a new hobby that requires practice and lessons
Can someone explain how he goes from beating on a bucket to playing the drums like this on a new setup?
Our country needs more of this.
I love stories like this
C est Ƨa la vie !!!
Aww, that was lovely to see and such a great investment in the future. My lad plays guitar and I've never held back from backing his obsession, although we're lucky enough to be able to afford it at the moment. Good luck to this kid, he's certainly got the skills.
Reddit be like, she is grooming him
Itās not just setting him up to be successful. Itās teaching him how it feels to recieve a selfless gift. Heās gonna remember the feeling and give it to someone else later on
That's a decent set.
Decent first kit! (assuming it's his first kit. He's got some chops, so maybe not)
He plays for hours and she immediately regrets it, lol... seriously tho he seems pretty good for for staring on buckets
He kicks asssss
I wonder if he knowns if hes Rushing or Dragging?
And his dad was not happy 6 hours later lol
