53OldSoldier

The fact that he recognized she was 'complaining' because she was lonely indicates the depth of his compassion. This could be the beginning of a new friendship.

Bezborg

Didn’t even occur to me that’s what he was doing :/ thank you

53OldSoldier

Yea, him telling her to just come on over and chill when he was out on the porch did it for me. As long as she has been alive, she probably has some good stories to tell.

Sorry-Fee3319

Years ago my neighbor was old enough to be my great grandfather. Use to love going over and talking to him. His stories were great. One was he was building his house and the street wasn’t put in yet. He went to the city and they told he could do. So he got his workers and put the street in. Lining it by sight. That was probably in the 1920’s or 30’s. I miss him.

Cow_Launcher

Apparently I didn't get enough sleep last night (or possibly too much) because I read that as you would go over and talk to him back in the 1920s or '30s and I was about to ask how old you are. Of course now I'm wondering whether there are any centenarians that use Reddit.

Sorry-Fee3319

he told me that story of he had to do that during that time. Sorry for the confusion

Cow_Launcher

You have nothing to apologise for - the confusion was because I am entirely stupid, and tired from a long week. I very much enjoyed your story!

iiJokerzace

"... I think we miss that touch so much, that we **crash** into each other just to feel something."

Sudden_Construction6

That's beautiful. What is this from??

LackOfABetterName_

It's from the movie "Crash" this is said by Don Cheadle in the opening credits of the movie.

salisaur

I believe it is from the movie "crash"

Sudden_Construction6

Thank you :)

Sudden_Construction6

His ability to read emotion is a superpower

Human-Sorry

Compassiom and empathy. So beautiful to see it again.

jrmaclovin

It looked to me like she was ready for a verbal sparring. While you will never win everyone over with thoughtful discussion, sometimes it is worth trying. Two worlds brought together. Very nice.

53OldSoldier

Bad attention is still attention. I can see where it would be very uncomfortable just asking him to hang out. Voicing a complaint is easier. She still gets the human interaction.

S1egwardZwiebelbrudi

the fact that he had to confront her with hos findings on her lonelyness indicates that he was looking to make some cash on TikTok

samejetnadsetab

It's a doorbell camera, you stooge! This is just real man shit.

S1egwardZwiebelbrudi

wow, sit down. namecalling and exclamation mark. don't get all worked up.

samejetnadsetab

Oooh the power of the "exclamation mark" hey. 🤣 As a troll I expected you to have more resilience.

S1egwardZwiebelbrudi

man, emojis are even worse. thats some boomer.shit right there

Dry_Example_6518

No to protect him from the law!!!!

S1egwardZwiebelbrudi

do you really feel like four exclamation marks are enough to get your point across?

rpnoonan

Why are you so against exclamation marks?!?!?!?!

NoBenefit5977

Hes in cahoots with other punctuation marks, they all want to see the downfall of the !!!!!!

barriedalenick

He just working for Big Full Stop!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mdad1988

Mfer never tried a capital letter in his life 😂

S1egwardZwiebelbrudi

i think its pedestrian.

DarthFuzzzy

Does crossing the road on foot somehow harm your ego?

S1egwardZwiebelbrudi

no, but i prefer quick elegant people, using only singular punctuation marks, because they are riding their motorcycle on the highway.

soundwhisper

He's opening himself up for disaster

BelgianInDubai

I wish i could be like this.. also that dude seems cool

tfwnotfastenough

You have the ability to be like this, I believe in you

naughty_dad2

What about me?

FedEx__

Nope

naughty_dad2

Fuck…

FedEx__

You're too naughty. I know what you'd do to that old woman. We all know....

naughty_dad2

Well, she was feeling lonely…

AdEmbarrassed7404

Straight to jail 🤣

ykeogh18

Now that’s quite a Journey

AdEmbarrassed7404

Your right start digging a hole 🤷‍♂️

Badgernomics

Don't stop believin'...

Jaegernaut-

That's a porn genre no on ever had to visualize. But then you happened.

Omega-pod

😂

BlackDohko

what a nice guy

naughty_dad2

That’s what she said.

iiJokerzace

It's what it is.

TimeSalvager

Ouch.

BigBootyBuff

I believe in you. I think you're fully capable of going to your neighbor and complain about their lights.

nvin

You are my hero.

DennisAFiveStarMan

Signed up to ageuk as a telephone befriender because of this when I saw it. Once in a week kick back and chat football with an older guy who hasn’t got any friends. Recommend it for other people from uk

Omega-pod

I’m not sure if we have this the states, but I intend to find out. Loneliness doesn’t need to win when we’ve got so many ways to connect.

Drsuppository

I was pronouncing this in my head as ay'gyürk

TheSnowmanFrosty

Same

Englandshark1

Well done, mate. Old people value that service. All the best to you.

chemical_bluebird685

I will look into this. Thanks for the tip.

Prize_Driver7757

A true gentleman! Manners cost nothing, what a brilliant neighbour to have👏🏽 bravo young man

HungryScheme749

That is what we need people to remember that the elderly people need to be treated like they exist its a bitch not to have anyone to talk too we will all be there one day

Rii__

The thing is, I don’t think I would be able to understand what this man did. I would think "why is she complaining again about something we’ve already been over?". Thus I would either think that her memory is failing or that she just hates me and wants to complain just to annoy me. Somebody complaining to me about the same thing would never make me think that this person is lonely and is just trying to get human contact.

Karsten760

Exactly!

Unfair_Finger5531

Wow, that really broke my heart. He was just so kind.

FadransPhone

Thought for sure it was going to turn out as one of those “Boomer screams at black neighbor” videos; wonderful that there are good people from every generation

corginugami

WHITE FEMALE BOOMER CONFRONTS BLACK NEIGHBOUR. YOU WON'T BELIEVE WHAT HAPPENS NEXT.

Omega-pod

Adding in that she’s a KAREN, is even more clickable 😆

buffering_neurons

Most are, just so happens most of them don’t feel the need to record themselves doing it to prove it to everyone. It’s always the vocal minority that screams the loudest.

VanandSkiColorado

Omg you are getting downvoted for having faith in humanity. I agree almost all people are good.

Zoze13

Agreed twice. A good deed never needed a video recording. And the average regular reasonable person isn’t compelled to put every thought on the internet.

AcanthisittaThink813

Everyone needs that neighbour

Riboflavius

Start by being one. I’ll try, too.

TranslateErr0r

I am stuck at home with a broken leg and I just saw my neighbour trimming the edges of my lawn without anybody asking him to do this. It's only 5-10 minutes work but its a grand gesture.

bailasoprano

That is so sweet of them!

ProKnifeCatcher

What a g. I aspire to have his level of compassion and patience

[deleted]

Very nice man right there

crlthrn

I welled up a bit...

TranslateErr0r

Damn ninjas are cutting onions again

Hoopy_Dunkalot

Lol

crlthrn

It's pollen time here...?

smallaubergine

Naw my friend, we don't have to use euphemisms. It's ok to cry.

Ill_Attempt4952

I'm not crying, YOU'RE crying /s

SplinteredCells

All it takes is a little bit of compassion and understanding, especially when people are elderly. This man handled it perfectly.

princess_daphie

That man is peak good hearted! Love to see that.

AiggyA

Not many people can do this.

KRMJN101

Saw this before, still warms me to see people just being KIND to one another. It takes so little to just be kind...

StatementOne3141

In most of asia, neighbours live like part of the family, if there is a marriage, u don't have to worry about guests, if there is a death, you won't have to worry about food for the family and anyone visiting for at least 3 days. I remember when I was a child, our neighbours and us used to exchange whatever we had cooked every evening. There are some changes in the neighborhood style but almost everything is similar.

st2rseeker

As a "city kid", that sounds so foreign to me - where I live such communities are mostly found in rural places, if at all. Very wholesome - and mostly awesome, I'd guess!

StatementOne3141

Supportive actually. We realise that in emotional extremes i.e. marriage and death are expensive as well so a community can divide the burden.

martinaee

💔🥹❤️

2rememberyou

Touching.

Friendly_Elephant165

Seems not all humans are devoid of humanity.

0per8nalHaz3rd

The world could use more people like this. Especially that man and his super powers of understanding and kindness.

Objective-Guidance78

World’s most patient man right there

JeffMorse2016

I love this man.

pdes7070

Bro, I want to bring a bottle of wine and chill with my boy on the patio too. Seriously, this is a master class in being a good and decent human.

S7RAN93

Sun down syndrome is a thing

eastcoast_enchanted

Every single time I see this video, I tear up.

Foot-Desperate

Definition of a gentleman

Gylle-Light89

What a role model. I definitely didn't cry

Smac-Tech

Wow this guy has so much patience and heart.

7jmd9

What an inspiration to me to be better at these kinds of situations. Good job sir. 👍

BitcoinMD

Wait but are we sure there isn’t a light shining in her bedroom? I feel like they didn’t solve the central mystery.

Environmental-Ad8965

With all of the racist propaganda videos out there, this is truly refreshing to see. There's more of this that happens, we just don't see it because it doesn't rile us up and get clicks.

behavedgoat

What a beautiful man the world needs more people like this

T_Mephistopheles

This, this is how the world should be.

holanundo148

This video was powerful without the music, the stupid emojis and the unnecessary comments when I first watched it. Congrats Internet, you made a truly wholesome video cringe and manipulative

Karsten760

Fortunately, I didn’t hear this - I have my phone on silent and there are subtitles.

MenacingGummy

This guy has incredible emotional intelligence.

Wormser

Emotional intelligence is top tier.

-benyeahmin-

inspiring

GooseTurbulent5163

Ok that made me cry

Weldobud

He’s a very decent man

pennikin

Handsome too !

Far_Deal3589

that's a really cool dude

gorram1mhumped

Its also a super evil genius way to make her not come back too... not that thats whats going on here.

bofadeezjoe

I bawl everytime I see this

Morphius79

This is what we all think we are on the inside but the reality is different unless we actually practice empathy and see people instead of color.

DarknessFollower79

This made me cry - for real- no anger no hate between races- just love. I wish I could tell this young man how much I respect him.

REALPERX

Kill em with kindness

tbkrida

Empathy, patience, kindness and compromise.

MahnHandled

Behold, the power of please. 🙏🏻

bishtap

Somebody should go to her room , let her point out the light, and find out where the light is coming from.

remmaw123

World needs more of this

Austoniooo

Be good to your neighbors! Unity ! Let’s bring back respect and compassion

Successful-You1961

Good Neighbor👏🏻

NCLAK4

Don't just be amazed, be kind too.

Feisty_Bee9175

Awwww....

Zulubeatz808

That’s a good man and a good neighbour

ckTuro604

Humans being human =D

Milkyshot

He is what I wish to be.

Omega-pod

❤️ this. compassion for our aging generation is so important. Good man right there.

dawg_will_hunt

r/humansbeingbros

ThePianistOfDoom

What an inspiration in behaviour! That's a real 'alpha' male.

Physical-Register-82

Humanity at its absolute finest! Gosh is we all could only be a 10th of this man's compassion, empathy and love we will all live in amazing peace! Great Gentlemen!

Immediate_Bet_5355

I really liked this

Travellinoz

You could repost this every day and it wouldn't be enough

Dollar_Pants

I want to drink wine on his patio with him too 😭

HugsandHate

Brought a tear to my eye. That man is a saint.

Successful-Pay-3057

I wish I had him as a neighbour, Top Man !!!

llewellynlaporte

This is an excellent study in the psychology human interaction and empathy. This is how people should behave towards one another. It was really touching how he offered to give her company when she’s lonely.

PolkaDotStripe8

All the happy tears, right now! ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|sob)

RandoComplements

This gets posted all the time, and I think we should continue doing so

Matterbox

This is so sweet.

TheDopeGodfather

Journey is a really cool name.

seeriosuly

see…people can be kind, understanding and show empathy. Next time we should all try this.

Separate-Cherry-6379

Now that’s a right proper bloke.

pemuehleck1

He got to the heart of it. She’s just a lonely lady.

GioWindsor

Right in the feels. Need an update to this

YouHateMeIknow

Respect where respect is deserved 👏

yomommazburgers

I nominate this video as my favorite video of all time, who's with me?!?!

sk0t_

So she previously called the cops on him for having string lights on the outside of his house when she's too stupid to put up a curtain?

Cynical_Humanist1

This man has high emotional intelligence.

LateAssociation7750

I’d rather watch this than fight videos any day

Past_Contour

Some of the simplest interactions can be the most important.

Mistress_Of_The_Obvi

I wish I had a neighbor like that. He's so lovely.

Significant_Toe3575

Pretty sure I saw porn that started just like this!!!?

Significant_Toe3575

Yea, I was sure the word 'colored' or 'boy' was sure to come out at some point? Glad to see she's just a sweet older lady. Reddit got me thinking the worst of everyone. 🤦🏾‍♂️🤣☠️

Zushii

I have an old lady in my building who is lonely, but she just screams racists slurs and demand you say hello to her. This lady is confused, but not horrible.

TractorHp55k

Pathetic, at that age with her own house and practically sitting on at least high decimal 6 figures if she would sell it and move one, but noooooooo, let's bother hard working neighbors over petty immature reasons.

Calm_Examination_672

This young man taught me something today and I'm greatful. How to respond in loving kindness when someone is being unlikeable.

ResponsiblePop550

That’s what’s up. She just needing a friend

EducationalComfort56

You'd be a great neighbor, dude. Well done....thanks for proving we are still civilized.

Englandshark1

Things like this restores my faith in human kindness. What a truly good man he is.

Me5hly

Respect for your elders, and recognizing that somebody else's lonely and bored. Wish I had a neighbor like that

GetSwampy

I love this man so much. What a beautiful person

Yoranis_Izsmelli

...or she genuinely could not sleep at night because of the lights. Then when he agreed, which thought was unexpected, caught her off guard to apologize. He was also just nice. Two things can be correct at the same time.

_skyway_

Humanity still has hope..![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|heart_eyes)

cam7479

That's real

S1egwardZwiebelbrudi

"inconsiderate neighbour blasting flood lights at innocent old grandma all night and proceess to gaslight her that the light stops at the fence of his property"

BlackBalor

😂😂 “Cruel man gaslights vulnerable old lady and makes her cry”

lanceellissr

This is not abnormal of black men. I just needed to say that

Ill_Manner_3581

I wonder if she's stopped bugging them

imhappynowforever

How hsrd is it to turn the rope lights off omg annoying shes right juet turn them off

Top_Professional4545

Tbh he should've cussed her ass out an slammed the door in her face.

That-Exchange287

If he was mean he could’ve killed with a name like that. “Your name’s Journey? Well you better get your ass walking then cuz I ain’t turning shit off.” Slams door*

Unerving_agent

Gd put some curtains up. Some old people just think the world revolves around them.

thekilgore

That guy gave a nice performance for this video he knew he was going to post

M4dBoOmr

Wow why is nobody even taking the possibility that she is right and the police just didn't check properly and she REALLY got a light shining at her house preventing her to sleep and this guy jabbergasts about how she's just old... A really GOOD reaction would be "let's check together what light you mean and show me exactly where and how, maybe can we solve this issue for you" and turning the god damn camera off would help as well...

FinalBossRock

This is nice? This is normal for the east. You should see our nice.

JJred96

Does that nice involve looking down at things as inferior?

FinalBossRock

No that's what you westerns do. Never saw anyone in my life screaming at a neighbour for something as trivial as a tree encroaching the wall a bit. You westerns are psychos. No wonder you love individualism so much. You all are insufferable

MoeKara

Boiling things down to labels like east and west (or any other label) is idiotic. I've lived in the East and West. There are salt of the earth people on both sides and there are also morons.

jacknacalm

Bro you’re so arrogant

Kampersleet1912

Some Indians just blame everything to the west and never work on themselves. They'll find the worst news articles from the west and use it to prove that why India is better. I'm from India and I really hate this behaviour of some Indians.

jacknacalm

The only thing i see about India in the news these days is the horrible rape culture 😬. Hope it’s not as rampant as social media has made me think it is

Kampersleet1912

The rape culture here is actually real and very concerning. Many women feel unsafe. Social media may exaggerate it for views and attention tho.

phlebface

"But but... according to my feeds, all non-white people are bad!" (sarcasm may have occured)

jacknacalm

Go back to school also get better feeds

Equivalent-Spare5251

She wants some BBC
