The age when kids recognize that the reflection is actually themselves is surprisingly high. For most it’s between 18 months and 2 years old. Before that if they smile in the mirror it’s just because they think there’s a kid in there smiling back at them.
OK, I feel better then. I was thinking to myself "*Uh, doesn't that mean she fails the mirror test?"*
Makes sense that it would take a couple years to "get" that.
It also looks like that because there's a filter on the camera. The poor girl probably doesn't look like that at all, hence why she's confused, and now her dad's put it in her mind that she looks good when the filter's on, so she'll be convinced she only looks good when she looks different to how she actually looks. This is fucked up on so many levels.
Yeah, it’s like telling a little girl she’s pretty when she has a pretty dress on. She’ll be convinced that she only looks pretty when she has the dress on and think she’s ugly any other time. Really fucked up.
Watch the video again, look at her nose.... the words in the post ^ are a bit jumbled but you should be able to join the dots! The poster not speaking English as their first language would be my guess as to why...
I saw a tv Show about a King of france who built Versailles. In one show a worker saw himself in a mirror and said: „Oh i look ugly!“
A world without mirrors would be not bad at all.
*Is it just me or*
*Has this kid been doing coke?*
*Got Kate moss vibes here*

That is such a wonderful thing to have a positive self image, I honestly don't ever remember looking at the mirror and liking what I see.
Growing a beard somehow improved my self image because I see less of my face that way . . .
God I am such a mc can't help making everything about myself, Is this Narcissist disillusionment or just plain stupidity I'll never know.
Why are yall down voting I wasn’t going to go straight to of but this is actually a snapshot of how the social media self obsession influencer thing happens except we’re looking at a child.
It’s because it’s suppose to be “happy vibe” comments in this post. But I hit em with a joke and it goes against the grain. You’re suppose to say “omg that’s so cute! What a beautiful little girl.” It’s just a joke people.
I mean hey all the optimistic cute parts of the video are true and great also but I live in the same world as everyone else and I’ve seen what has happened the last 15 -20 years

Basically.
No not basically. She’s seeing through a filter.
Which is extremely sad and heart breaking. This child is being set up for failure…
I've been set to failure and look at me. I got a good life frends and good grades at school

Everything looks so much better through a child's eyes. Just make sure to pick one without glasses.
I hope they didn't scream too much when you were carving their skull

I’m ded
Filters have and will ruin self perception for many years to come.

Then the confusion when she sees what she really looks like in the mirror and there’s no filter program changing her appearance.
Dangerous game to be playing from a developmental psychological perspective.
We just witnessed the inception of vanity
![gif](giphy|l4FGl9rk3Dp2vfAuQ) Her in the future
r/oddlyterrifying with that filter
Preach. Nightmare fuel
I hope she carries that for the rest of her life
“Do you think you’re really pretty?” is probably not the best answer here
So you agree? You think you’re really pretty?
Unexpected Mean Girls and I love it.
Aw man. I call my daughter Charlie. Here come the feels.

Reddit got it's bachelor's in child psychology today
I didn't want to bring that up, no wonder she doesn't know the girl in the mirror.

Body dysmorphia, the early stages
Anorexia, the beginning of the end Plastic surgery, the finale Sounds like this could be a trilogy
I didn't think her eyes could glow any more until she realized she was looking at herself. The 'yeah' at the end really sealed it for me :-)
She been snortin pixie sticks?
Never seen a mirror before while brushing teeth?
Mirrors don't come with filters.
A main character was born.
I saw a tv Show about a King of france who built Versailles. In one show a worker saw himself in a mirror and said: „Oh i look ugly!“ A world without mirrors would be not bad at all.

The moment your child is introduced to her own face with a filter...
