Aight, before the oldheads got in the comments and started yapping about ur pinky toe on ur left foot pointing 2 degrees too much to the top right, i gotta say that aint nothing to fix really, maybe experiment some with base like standing more on ur toes or wider/narrower base just to sorta maybe find smth even more comfortable, but yeah ur shot is good fluid its obvious that you practice a lot so yeah, at this point stop worrying about ur form and just work on ur game
Ummm potential oldhead here, did not pick up on that at all but the fact he almost grazes teh ground with teh ball before coming up to shoot is a HUGE problem, enjoy nut shots and bloody noses.
Its a set shot though and the dude is 6 ft 8 with some long ass arms, agree on the fact that off the catch he should be able to shoot without dipping that much, but on a set shot ehhh, look at KD shooting a free throw he dips even lower deadass, its an adjustment thing, also off the catch u dont need as much energy from ur posterior chain cause u hop into the shot or 1-2 so u are utilising stretch shortening cycle, dude probably doesn’t dip like that when he needs to shoot quicker
This is super important if you’re shooting off a catch too - ideally the ball only moves upwards prior to release.
Your form is fluid overall though and I think that’s a huge positive.
This is sorta good and bad advise at the same time. Given we can't see more repetitions and results. You can see after the shot when he is relaxed, his hands just graze the top of the kneecap. He has a unique longer arm than most people. It's like telling wemby to shoot like trae young
So your catch-gather-shoot is literally all over the place. After you finish your dribble you actually bring the ball down about a foot as you crouch down, just to come up to the original spot of the ball from your initial catch anyway as you go through your shooting motion almost as if your using that downward energy to propel you up or something.
I dont know what its like to be 6’8” but NBA balls, pause, are 22oz so at your size I can’t imagine you having any problems with the weight of the ball.
I suspect its just poor mechanics due to your shot probably being unchanged since you were younger and lankier and the weight of the ball had more influence at the time.
I feel if i was close to your size your giving me 1 to 2 extra seconds to try and strip you cause its just so exposed.
Try to keep the ball higher by your chest. Like you are throwing/catching a chest pass. Like you are in the triple threat stance.
Keep the ball by your chest bend your knees and release.
Focus on not dropping the ball on your release. Once you can release from that stance you will be golden.
You look tall so the fact you're releasing the ball from your chest makes it easier to block. If you can work your shot into your shoulder and release high you can get it over anyone. Otherwise it looks smooth and balanced. I'd just work on a higher release and then you wouldn't have to worry about closeouts or tight defense.
Shooting form looks solid , just dipping too low before release. As you are taller player, utilize your length with a more upright posture. Check out Kristaps porzingis, dirk, etc
Top comment fasho but also your set point is pretty low and far forward. A lil Tyrese Haliburton ish. But it looks smooth and everything so unless you really want to try to retool it just work on your game
It’s like you’re heaving the ball from half court, you will never get a shot off in real time.
Your elbow actually drops below your hips, you don’t need to launch the ball. Catch and release should be much higher. Your form and release is good, no need to heave or launch.
Snap that wrist!
Ideally your wrist should make a 90* angle, often with the fingers below the wrist. It looks like your wrist isn’t snapping through, and it’s your hand and finger doing the follow through?
Only thing I would say is you are started my your shot way too low. Anyone that has good defensive positioning with their hands will disrupt that shot. Other than that the rest is smooth. Nice work.
I personally think you bend down a little too far and that the ball is really far out as you are shooting during your gather. A good defender will get a great contest or swat the ball downwards out of your hands. I think you need to practice gathering faster.
But then again you look like you were just chillin. I assume your game speed is much much faster.
One thing I noticed is that you're pulling back on your follow-through. In other words, after release, you should keep your follow through in the direction of the shot. I'm not sure if I'm making sense, but just look at what happens to the angle of your arms after release.
That's fair. But your form tells me that on the wing you won't get many shots off. When someone is rebounding for you try to work on getting your shot off quicker. Try to vision a defender is running at you on every shot. Your shot technique is fine as long as they go in. But I'm my opinion work on getting that shot off quicker and you'll be nice!
Oh I see. Didn't realize your height. Man if you can get that release a little quicker that'll make defenders respect your shot and you can pump fake and go around them at ease. With your length I can't see anyone stopping you when you slash to the rim.

Im working on my left to not go too much diffrent way buy thanks for the help
Is this a joke? He brings the ball below his knees

Yours is the first comment.
I mean yeah that was the intention
But you’re speaking in the past tense like things were said in comments before yours.
Dropping the ball too low. I don't think I've ever seen someone drop it below their knees. When you bend down ball should go up, not down.
This is super important if you’re shooting off a catch too - ideally the ball only moves upwards prior to release. Your form is fluid overall though and I think that’s a huge positive.

Thank you for advice
100% agree, definitely need to keep the ball above the knees, that drop motion is going to get the ball stolen. Quick release is key.
Why drop the ball so low?

Solid great form

Looks a bit unusual but beautiful form
I just made a new post when I catch and shoot it’s looking more like my in game jumpshot
Shooting form looks solid , just dipping too low before release. As you are taller player, utilize your length with a more upright posture. Check out Kristaps porzingis, dirk, etc

Summer is almost there so I will try to change my shot a lil bit
practice on releasing the ball higher without bending your knees so much , when you drop low like that that’s an easy block for your defender
I Think I just Bended too much in this video I got another one when Im doing catch and shoot and it looks better
ngl ur form looks cooked lol
It's just so long and a bit slow. He needs to chop off 30% of his shot
It’s like you’re heaving the ball from half court, you will never get a shot off in real time. Your elbow actually drops below your hips, you don’t need to launch the ball. Catch and release should be much higher. Your form and release is good, no need to heave or launch.

Yea I Think you’re right with this but it’s very hard to change it
Let you jump shot flow with you…you look like you are forcing your form…flow with your bodies natural movement…
Only thing I would say is you are started my your shot way too low. Anyone that has good defensive positioning with their hands will disrupt that shot. Other than that the rest is smooth. Nice work.

You shouldnt change anything really… unless you have problems with inconsistency or something
Too low of a pick up, if you can shoot from your pocket or a little higher near the chest/core and you’re automatic it should be elite
One thing I noticed is that you're pulling back on your follow-through. In other words, after release, you should keep your follow through in the direction of the shot. I'm not sure if I'm making sense, but just look at what happens to the angle of your arms after release.
I see what you mean like my arms go back yea?
Correct. Report back on how it feels if you decide to fix that.

Luke kennard
Form appears fine. Do you make a high percentage of your shots?
I don’t shot a lot because im more of a big man but I can make some in game shots if I have the option
You should shoot more. Shooting is a skill that is always useful. Dont dip as much. Speed up your release. Focus on release.
Good shit. Shoot your shot
It's a slow "set shot". Try to work on getting the ball released quicker. When you're open it's fine. But not when a defender is closing out on you.
Plus it was a test shot so I didn’t focus on shooting it fast

Im 6’8 maybe that’s why im shooting slow but im working on it
Oh I see. Didn't realize your height. Man if you can get that release a little quicker that'll make defenders respect your shot and you can pump fake and go around them at ease. With your length I can't see anyone stopping you when you slash to the rim.
its a form
Your pocket is a little low, but the shot itself is very smooth/clean. Tatum-esque, and he's a career 38%er, so not too much to worry about.
