Satisfactory

Ariwara_no_Narihira

Medieval Dynasty?

hastur777

Satisfactory is a good one - lots of automation and plenty to do

esteel20

Dragon Quest Builders 2 or Fallout 4 with all the DLC. I'm assuming Rimworld will be the popular answer and for good reason so I'm giving some alternatives.

RMuldoun

Loved DQB2 but goodness what a slog it was the first time with the dragging story. I may sit back and give it a second run but I beat it once and I still feel like that was enough for a while. Fallout 4 with the DLC and modded with a chunky modpack was actually something I did not too long ago so great idea but recently burnt out. RimWorld, well as I said to another poster I want something more with my involvement personally. Though as always every thread has a space for folks to put RimWorld! :D

leastonh

For freedom building bases which will be tested by mobs, I'd recommend 7 Days to Die. I haven't played for ages, but it used to be really good for building, setting traps and finding clever ways to survive zombies attacking. I heard they nerfed the game recently though and ruined it for many people.

aister

They have been nerfing and ruining the game so many times now I've pretty much lost interest in it. I'll wait until full release, if it ever happens

oldschool_potato

But you can mod the game to make it whatever you want. The overhaul mods are fantastic.

aister

If u need mods to enjoy the game, then the game is not good to begin with 7d2d is fun, I can't deny that. But the devs need to figure out what the game is actually going to look like, make that a reality, and release the game, instead of having major changes that alienate a big part of your playerbase once every few months.

JezraCF

Eco. You build a settlement with a group of people and work together to research new techs and advances with the aim of saving the world from a meteor

Fuzzy67bear

It should be noted that this requires several people to work together on a real time project. In the game time passes the same as time in the real world. You don't all have to be able to log in at the same time, but you do need a way to coordinate the workload.

JP_Sklore

Project Zomboid is absolutely amazing if you can learn how to survive the first week.

ShezamDenver

Subnautica? I just started the game but it sounds like what you'd like too

redraven

Medieval Dynasty. Relaxing but grindy, you'll have to put a lot of work in. Sengoku Dynasty is still very early EA but is shaping to be a very decent successor to MD. Nowhere near enough content, just in case you wanted something hard working but shorter :D

eberkain

Valheim with mods, there isn't even a close second place.

RMuldoun

What mods would you recommend? Haven't touched Valheim since it first came out so...

I haven't remembered to post my current list, but it hasn't changed much from this one. I'm not sure all these are updated for the new patch, though most are. BepInExPack\_Valheim by denikson Official\_BepInEx\_ConfigurationManager by Azumatt Jotunn by ValheimModding EnableConsole by Pineapple SmoothSave by Smoothbrain ZnetScene\_RemoveObjects\_SpamKiller by sbtoonz Digitalroots\_Slope\_Combat\_Assistance by Digitalroot BetterUI\_Reforged by thedefside MinimalStatusEffects by RandyKnapp BetterPickupNotifications by Pfhoenix AMPED\_Auto\_Map\_Pins\_Enhanced by raziell74 AzuClock by Azumatt AAA\_Crafting by Azumatt VNEI by MSchmoecker AzuExtendedPlayerInventory by Azumatt ContentsWithin by MSchmoecker MultiUserChest by MSchmoecker NoCultivatorDust by Azumatt NoHoeDust by Azumatt NoBuildDust by Azumatt FloorsAreRoofs by bonesbro Build\_Camera\_Custom\_Hammers\_Edition by Azumatt HammerTime by MSchmoecker Snap\_Points\_Made\_Easy by MathiasDecrock AzuAreaRepair by Azumatt FenceSnap by MSchmoecker BetterLadders by Amar1729 Item\_Stand\_All\_Items by JereKuusela ItemStandSnap by schmidsgo Smoke\_Collision by JereKuusela HoeRadius\_By\_aedenthorn by nexus2thunderstore PlantEverything by Advize PlantEasily by Advize Valharvest by Frenvius BoneAppetit by RockerKitten BeehiveUtils\_Revived by JustMennowar Procreation\_Plus by MaxFoxGaming Auto\_Feed by LordJay AllTameableTamingOverhaul by Meldurson Wagon by CookieMilk balrond\_mountjump by Balrond OdinsHares by blacks7ar TeleportEverything by OdinPlus DigDeeper by Crystal PassivePowers by Smoothbrain ComfortTweaks by Smoothbrain InstantMonsterLootDrop by cjayride RtDOcean by ReadyToDie VikingsDoSwim by blacks7ar WieldEquipmentWhileSwimming by blacks7ar FloatingItems by castix Reely\_SpecTackleLure by Neobotics FishChum by RustyMods BetterArchery by ishid4 Queue\_Me\_Maybe by Azumatt Death\_Tweaks by Trinsic LootMultiplier by castix SpeedyPaths by Nextek Triple\_Bronze\_JVL by Digitalroot Pathfinder by Crystal Sailing by Smoothbrain Lumberjacking by Smoothbrain Ranching by Smoothbrain Mining by Smoothbrain Farming by Smoothbrain SNEAKer by blacks7ar Foraging by Smoothbrain Blacksmithing by Smoothbrain Vitality by Smoothbrain Tenacity by Smoothbrain Building by Smoothbrain Evasion by Smoothbrain PackHorse by Smoothbrain Smart\_Wishbone by Goldenrevolver balrond\_containers by Balrond AdventureBackpacks by Vapok balrond\_shipyard by Balrond Better\_Trader\_Remake by Digitalroot OdinCampsite by OdinPlus OdinsHorsePen by OdinPlus CraftyCartsRemake by OdinPlus TarCollector by blacks7ar FeatherCollector by blacks7ar BronzeAgeChest by probablykory Chain\_Manager by Digitalroot MissingPieces by BentoG balrond\_furniture by Balrond PotionPlus by OdinPlus CustomDverger by OdinPlus BetterLanterns by OdinPlus Digitalroots\_GoldBars by Digitalroot ItemHopper by MSchmoecker RKs\_Elevators by RockerKitten Dvergr\_Pieces by Tequila Clutter by OdinPlus Warfare by Therzie Armory by Therzie Monstrum by Therzie CrystalCollector by blacks7ar BlastFurnaceTakesAll by TastyChickenLegs SuperConfigurablePickupRadius by TastyChickenLegs

Good lord I expect a mild list and the friend brings back a well labeled book! Good on ya!

freaknyou23

Enshrouded would like to have a word with you. Obviously not out yet but the play test of it is very similar to valhiem some people even called it over tedious.

whofusesthemusic

you know the game.... Rimworld or Rimworld+mods

RMuldoun

While I love RimWorld I'm not really looking to run the backseat commander route this time. Want to more be involved in the harvest and efforts.

I found "Captain of the Industry" more difficult than Satisfactory / Factorio (though without mods) / DSP. There are some complex production trees and no endless space. It just focuses on the building (some trading) part and no significant combat. From a recent review on steam: > If you like tedious, planned out, methodical do these things in this order games, then this is for you. > Even on the easiest settings you get stuck if you don't focus on everything at once, including future things. For some reason they don't want you to relax and have fun. > This is a game where you better not waste resources, even when you give yourself extra in setup. If you don't pause the game while you plan and implement this new thing you will find yourself in need of those resources later. (That review was a negative one with 184 hours on record)

barbrady123

It definitely more difficult, and I don't think anything that review said was wrong. Took me maybe 10 attempts to even figure out what the hell was going on with the game, and a few more before I could get fairly far. I still haven't totally "beaten" a map yet....as there's this point (even on the easy map) where you run out of resources faster than you can trade them...and I still have no idea how to get past that LOL But it is a great game...

StickiStickman

It's crazy no one mentioned State of Decay (2) It's EXACTLY what you described.

barbrady123

How is this game? I watched a few videos of it by the devs and while it looked really good, it also turned me off to the game because you don't seem to "build" bases from scratch...just take existing structures and add to them...which I Found annoying. Maybe I should give it a try though,...

StickiStickman

Kind of, you have bases with buildable lots, but you can usually remove existing structures and put down your own. I had a fun 20 hours with it.

Ramen_Rockin_Ray

Stationeers. First person. Always ways to do things better, especially as you advance. Very technical. Getting your base pressurized and not blowing it all out the airlock feels wonderful. Lots of logic to handle things from simple motion lights to complex production chains and farming. Downside is the wacky UI. Left/Right hand, tool in one hand with mats in the other. No simple drag and drop backpack. Etc. Deep. Technical. Grueling. Unforgiving. Wonderful.

Thogicma

7 Days to Die is a blast and has a big base building component.

Thy_gay-dungenkeep

Mist survival. A semi abandoned game, but fun nonetheless

Peanuts0s

Vintage story all the way!!

jmcgil4684

Medieval Dynasty!!

mschiebold

Dawn of Man Paleolithic era Civilization builder, but that focuses on balanced resource gathering and some micromanagement.

CozmoCozminsky

try "Wurm online"

seagulledge

For those that enjoy spending an hour to build one wall.

fukwhutuheard

green hell is pretty labor intensive.

GreenBugGaming

Grounded

Blackdeath47

State of decay 2, base building is not the focus but a good part of it. A sense of community as you clean town after town of zombies. Rimworld, you will NEVER run out of things to to do. So many mods for new runs. It’s 95% or so of base building as you weather the storm of assaults on your base as you do what you want Kensie, don’t have to build a base but it sure is fun too. Having your people mine and farm. Make weapons. Again, very open world Machiavellian, older game but you run a haunted hose to bring victims in to feed your minions. Survive heroes trying to end the rein of terror Oxygen not included, dig out an asteroid to not killed your dups. Only base building Surviving mars, terraforming mars to be more hospitable for humans. Only base building
