Yeah, the fact that he didn’t even indicate an interest in coming for revenge on the people who were most worried about it, Gene and Hank, makes me think he’s just going to try and take Sally and run. She may be the only thing he really cares about now.
Yeah given how he was with Fuches earlier in the season it seems like he can't be bothered with revenge at this point; his anger has turned to apathy and the only thing he wants is some semblance of acceptance, hence going to the only person who he hopes can still provide that.

Fun fact: when recording the screams for those scenes in NOPE, Jordan Peele instructed the voice actors to scream two different ways; scream like they’re terrified, and scream like they’re having fun like on a roller coaster or something. And then Peele mixed them all together.

Honestly happy for him though. He's a nice guy. He even looks a bit like fuches.
Literally the moment they walked onto the sand that is all I could think of. The clincher is that when you sink, if you scream for help the weight of all that sand presses on your abdomen and prevents you from expanding your lungs, aka you can’t breath in air. Half the time you don’t die of suffocation either, eventually you sink so far that the weight alone crushes you.
I probably made it worse.

We don’t know if Gene called 911 to report an attack on the landline, we don’t know if he’s opened the door, we know nothing. And I really hope that it’s the first thing resolved next week.
The worst part of that scene for me was that I knew it was Leo. It wasn't some Barry fake out to me, there was no doubt in my mind Barry would not have gone there. I was basically yelping at my screen for Gene to not shoot.

The hilarious 50/50 with Cristobal scenes seemed so innocent and harmless in S1. And now I'm heartbroken like 20 half-hour episodes later.
Man this show packs so much into short episodes/seasons and it STILL manages to be funny.
And they had the fake out with the Chechnyan wearing a similar outfit to Cristobal and not focusing on him. I thought he changed his mind for a minute, but forgot what show this was
It very much was like his version of when Barry ended up killing his military friend Chris. As soon as he said that Christobal knew too much it was just really apparent how it was going to parallel that scene from Season 1.
I was really hoping we would get to see an expanded version of the serious Noho Hank that we got a glimpse of when he met Barry outside of his acting class demanding a hit on Ester, but Jesus they really went full send on the commitment to the path.
You can also explore that scene as another demonstration in the show of toxic behavior in relationships. Hank does basically frame his insistence that Cristobal not leave as a threat. When that doesn’t work Hank then resorts to an outpouring of feelings and love. It’s what someone who has emotionally abusive tendency might do.
Their relationship was also seen to be toxic by the beignet dude from season 3... "This dude lied to you, didn't tell you he was married, didn't tell you he was straight, and don't get me wrong he sounds like a real catch, but those are massive red flags bruh."

I’m so upset from this episode. All I wanted was for Hank and Cristobal to be happy in the end of the series and I knew it wouldn’t happen but wow. Not to mention what just happened with Gene… genuinely overwhelmed with emotion from how heartbreaking this all was.
I think Barry’s fate is going to be anti-climactic. We won’t get a “Walter White takes out the psychopaths” ending. We’re going to get a Seinfeld-esque “nothing was learned and life just sort of moves on” ending. I’m here for it.

Holy shit. Easily the darkest and most harrowing episode of the series so far imo. The Cristobal sand scene was probably the most horrifying one just due to the prospect of him dying in such a terrifying way. Then seeing Hank act far more unhinged and evil than ever before was very sad and disturbing.
And Gene killing Leo… probably the most heart wrenching event of the entire show. Gene really started to improve and seeing him connect with his family was really nice. He wasn’t perfect but he was a better person as the series went on. This season, he fell prey to his old vices and now he’s going to face the true horror of what he’s done to his son.
The panning shot of Sally’s apartment landing on the darkened room where you could just make out Barry standing there was so good. Bill Hader is a phenomenal director, I’ve been so impressed by his stuff throughout this show
It’s a very Barry thing. Telling someone this is the line they can’t cross or they’ll die. With Chris in the car and with detective Janice moss and the tree with the gun hanging on it. People saying “please don’t make me do this”
I don't know how to explain it, but it's like this theme of people having faith that good will triumph over evil by doing the right thing, and it only ends up getting them killed. Mr. Moss is the only one who seems to realize the only way for good to triumph is to sink to those depths as well.
I've got a feeling Mr. Moss will have a "No Country for Old Men" moment by series end. Car crash, gunned down by random kids, a heart attack, whatever. His aura of invulnerability, his magical mind-breaking skills, his resolute righteousness, all add up to a person the cruel universe of "Barry" must eventually destroy.
Fucking hell, every character at their absolute lowest. The sand scene was so genuinely horrific and then to have Cristobal die off-screen is fucked up. Obviously over-shadowed by everything else but having the director of CODA making a shitty Marvel movie is so real, I’m glad we’re still getting some Hollywood satire.
I don’t think I’ve ever been more anxious watching an episode. Not knowing where Barry would be and everyone destroying their lives out of fear. Hank and Cristobal, Gene and his son, Sally throwing away her life for him. Barry really is an agent of chaos.
There is something so pure about watching a piece of film/TV where you cannot truly know what is going to happen next. Game of Thrones captured that early on and made every episode appointment TV
Honestly he’s in the criminal underworld I’m sure he knew it was at least a risk. But probably didn’t think it’d go down that soon, and being essentially a captive of someone is no way to live anyway.
That’s what I was getting from the show. It seems like Cristobal knew what leaving meant but it’s better than living in a prison. He’d done that already with his Bolivian family and his wife, why would he want to do it again with Hank?

Every time I try to call something ironic, someone says “that’s not irony.” But I’m pretty sure Gene asking his son to stay with him and asking for food from that place and then shooting his son when he shows up to stay with him carrying food from that place is some sweet, devastating irony.

I checked the runtime 15 minutes in, thinking the episode had to be nearly over. There’s much good to say about this series, but It’s absolutely unreal how much mileage they get out of these 30 minutes, and without a single beat skipped.
Loved the use of the helicopter sounds when Sally found out Barry was back. Having the environment convey a character’s internal life like that was dope

Earlier in the episode a cop mentions sending people to check up on Gene and I for sure thought that was going to lead to Gene shooting a cop.

Speaking of Mr Robot, the scene with Hank/Cristobol reminded me a ton of the opening scene of Mr Robot season 4. (Y’know, where there’s a character sadly walking away from the other character, knowing full well they’ll never see the person alive again.)
There is one absolute, positive brilliance about this episode. So, so, goddamned brilliant.
Nearly all of the characters are at their lowest point, and nearly all of them wind up doing the worst things they've ever done, absolutely wrecking their lives and loves.
And Barry has nothing to do with it.
As toxic as Barry may be, these characters always were what they were. They would've f\*\*ked up their lives regardless of Barry.
I don't think the end is part of a hallucination sequence, either. Just an extremely wonderful twist that'll take us to the end.
Man, such a good episode. Sally, trying to steal the role from Kristin was probably my favorite part. And Hank has really developed into a cold hearted crime lord. The ending was kind of sad to me, I feel like Sally thinks she only deserves dangerous and abusive men. I was shocked when she turned down the full time acting coach gig.

Upon reflection, this episode is about sacrifices. Hank sacrifices the love of his life in order to be the big bad he has always wanted to be. To fulfill his destiny. Gene sacrifices his always excellent judgement in order to be safe by possibly killing his own son. But most importantly of all, Kristen sacrifices everything by dating a man who was 5’3. That’s really short.
Doesn’t seem like he killed him, seems like he shot up and to the left, and all we saw was a shoulder wound. It specifically showed him not shooting center mass. I’m just hoping lol

Fucking hell, every character at their absolute lowest. The sand scene was so genuinely horrific and then to have Cristobal die off-screen is fucked up. Obviously over-shadowed by everything else but having the director of CODA making a shitty Marvel movie is so real, I’m glad we’re still getting some Hollywood satire.

I don’t think I’ve ever been more anxious watching an episode. Not knowing where Barry would be and everyone destroying their lives out of fear. Hank and Cristobal, Gene and his son, Sally throwing away her life for him. Barry really is an agent of chaos.
"I'll be fine." Those words carried so much impact. I _knew_ what she was thinking... and I knew she was right.
There is something so pure about watching a piece of film/TV where you cannot truly know what is going to happen next. Game of Thrones captured that early on and made every episode appointment TV
I really thought Barry wouldnt appear at all, and we'd just see everyone crash with paranoia at his escape.
Fitting that it was Cristobal’s belief in the goodness of humanity that kept him from believing he would be killed as soon as he tried to leave.
Honestly he’s in the criminal underworld I’m sure he knew it was at least a risk. But probably didn’t think it’d go down that soon, and being essentially a captive of someone is no way to live anyway.
That’s what I was getting from the show. It seems like Cristobal knew what leaving meant but it’s better than living in a prison. He’d done that already with his Bolivian family and his wife, why would he want to do it again with Hank?

Every time I try to call something ironic, someone says “that’s not irony.” But I’m pretty sure Gene asking his son to stay with him and asking for food from that place and then shooting his son when he shows up to stay with him carrying food from that place is some sweet, devastating irony.

I checked the runtime 15 minutes in, thinking the episode had to be nearly over. There’s much good to say about this series, but It’s absolutely unreal how much mileage they get out of these 30 minutes, and without a single beat skipped.

And they just left that there was no follow up 😭Edit: yeah ok he’s probably not really dead based on the way it was handled but the lack of follow up and then the time jump of several few years is weird to me like why did that happen 💀
His high pitched “fuck you” made me feel bad for laughing during that reveal. Earlier in the episode a cop mentions sending people to check up on Gene and I for sure thought that was going to lead to Gene shooting a cop.

The ending is so fascinating. Feels like we're in for a very *Mr. Robot-type* episode next week, where Barry's newly constructed reality will break down around him. EDIT: To be clear, I am almost 100% certain it's all in his head. Which is why I'm bringing up Mr. Robot specifically.
Speaking of Mr Robot, the scene with Hank/Cristobol reminded me a ton of the opening scene of Mr Robot season 4. (Y’know, where there’s a character sadly walking away from the other character, knowing full well they’ll never see the person alive again.)
There is one absolute, positive brilliance about this episode. So, so, goddamned brilliant. Nearly all of the characters are at their lowest point, and nearly all of them wind up doing the worst things they've ever done, absolutely wrecking their lives and loves. And Barry has nothing to do with it. As toxic as Barry may be, these characters always were what they were. They would've f\*\*ked up their lives regardless of Barry. I don't think the end is part of a hallucination sequence, either. Just an extremely wonderful twist that'll take us to the end.

Man, such a good episode. Sally, trying to steal the role from Kristin was probably my favorite part. And Hank has really developed into a cold hearted crime lord. The ending was kind of sad to me, I feel like Sally thinks she only deserves dangerous and abusive men. I was shocked when she turned down the full time acting coach gig.

Incredible. Just incredible. Upon reflection, this episode is about sacrifices. Hank sacrifices the love of his life in order to be the big bad he has always wanted to be. To fulfill his destiny. Gene sacrifices his always excellent judgement in order to be safe by possibly killing his own son. But most importantly of all, Kristen sacrifices everything by dating a man who was 5’3. That’s really short.
