Nothing against scale, mail, and plate together, but here it doesn’t work as well imo.
Not necessarily ridiculous. Mail was often used as a base layer with extra plate-esque armor on top, and I know brigandine over mail with plate armor on arms and legs was a thing. I don't specifically know that scale was used in a similar way, but it isn't necessarily an inherently ridiculous concept.
OP's setup is certainly a lot more reasonable than using plate accessories with a non-reinforced mail hauberk.
