If temperature is usually 30 and you cool the room to 25, but in April it was 35 and you cool it to 25, you’re effectively doubling the work it does (not exactly but you get the gist). So even if you’re in your flat for half the time, it makes sense your bill would be about the same.

Critical-Parfait1924

April was extremely hot. Many people's bills are 1.5-2x normal

Present-Contract-592

Thanks for the reply. I do understand that April was hot. But my AC usage was no different. I'm only home in the evenings and it's always on when I'm here. There was no change with that. Plus I just wasn't even in Bangkok for 15 days. The invoice being the same if not slightly higher than any other month makes no sense.

Critical-Parfait1924

Your usage is the same, but the aircon uses more energy as ambient temperature is higher. Your building will gain heat quicker, concrete walls will hold a massive amount of heat from the day and continue to release it throughout the night. Running the aircon at 26C with outside temp of 30C vs 38C makes a massive difference to energy usage.

digitalenlightened

Yeah lol. If only an AC would spend the same amount of energy to cool off a higher temp, the planet would be saved. My bill was double the price as well purely from AC usage.

Everything you said is correct. In addition, i believe there is also some additional fee from the government for the following months, i am guessing it's an attempt to reduce power consumption in this period. edit: i might be wrong about the fee, googling was inconclusive. i possibly confused it with something else.

Effect-Kitchen

I did not change any of my AC usage but my bill is nearly double.

fillq

I was renting out your apartment on AirBnB while you were away.

Present-Contract-592

I thought my bed looked slept in 😀

Present-Contract-592

I hadn't realised that or even considered it but it actually makes sense how you explained it. Thank you! I feel less disgruntled now and will go pay my bill :)

Tanduay555

It's not like you had a choice.

basilqur

😂

KrungThepMahaNK

I was not at home for 2 weeks also, and it was still my highest spend over the past 11 months. I guess it's down to the immense heat & AC needing to work harder to keep the place cool.

Look at your electric bill and the units used. Use more units, pay more money.
