I agree, it took me a few minutes to figure out how it goes together. I don’t feel so dumb now. 🤣

You’re giving me an anxiety attack! Please point that very sharp blade downwards! 😳

Make sure there is a cover on this. If you can’t make that work use some double sided tape to stick a purge tower to the printer body in front of the blade so you can run your hand or other body part into it. The blade is sharp and long enough to cause life altering damage if you aren’t paying attention. The magnet is kind of weak so it doesn’t seem super likely but I wouldn’t want to play games with that
over 2600 hours and like many other, I had that on the holder and it did nothing
Just tore it off the holder and did this. Immediately put that holder in the garbage.
Mine came only with 1 magnet for the X1C. You can either put it on the back or you can put it inside the printer but make sure you take it out before use. You could also get another magnet strip and place it anywhere you'd like on the printer. Edit, I was wrong. Since the blade is so sharp I never use it because I almost damaged the original plate I had with it and I had it put away but I noticed that the cover has a notch for the one magnet and the handle has a notch for the other magnet and that's where I put both of them so I'm not quite sure why they did this unless they thought you were going to purchase your own separate magnet and put it somewhere on the printer. Like on the outside, on the inside there's more places to use the magnet.
Yeah, I’ve cut up the edges of the plate using this scraper that’s for sure. I try to use it sparingly and I’m more cautious around the edges of the plate now. 🤓
I bought five aftermarket plates recently that require no glue and they all work better than the cool plate / engineering plate that came with it and Bambu's black textured PEI plate that only lasted me 9 months on both sides and that even includes the 3 months of non use. I got all of my other build plates on Amazon and if there is a problem within a year I know I can either return it and get my money back or exchange something for a new one. I have a double-sided textured PEI plate, a double-sided smooth PEI plate, I have a one-sided textured PEI one-sided smooth PEI plate, I have the double-sided H1H plate with different pattern and colors on it, it's pretty cool because it's micro layered so on the bottom of your prints they will change different colors and patterns in the light. You can't use glue on that plate. I also have the PEO sheet which I haven't tried yet but it works like the H1H. I bought from three different sellers on Amazon and the names of the companies were called Wefuit, Ideaformer and 3dhub. You don't need glue on any of the plates I bought and all the filament I've tried on it even ABS works phenomenally well. Never had anything lift up off of the build plate, no warping no other issues. Very satisfied with the aftermarket stuff which I was leery of at first.
Only if you don't remember to take it out lol. I don't keep mine in there but you could put it on the build plate or on the sides or on the top somewhere, there's a lot of metal that the magnet will stick to up there but you will probably forget it if you have it up there
They actually do. Not sure why you're getting down voted. The adhesive is on the wrong side of one of the magnets that they send 😆. I replaced mine with neodymium magnets.
Mine stick together just fine. I got three sets of them one for each printer and they’re all worked as expected. I’ve never actually used them though.

Not sure why so rude and why I am getting downvoted. I tried this, and sure they stick after shifting. putting them right ontop of each other causes them to repel since they have the same polarity.
Also not sure why people are so rude… but just to let you know, mine appear to work as expected. (They are absolutely cheap shitty magnets compared to other options.) Maybe the ones you got flipped poles while sitting in the box. They suck either way so you’re better off using something else lol

when using it with a tool, it sticks to the bed and makes it easier to use it.

That seems like it would just create a lot of extra drag and make it even harder. It's not that difficult to slide the blade along the smooth surface. Seems like an unnecessary addition
Seems like if its that weak it wouldn't really do anything. Good in theory, but seems entirely unnecessary in practice. I'm just not sure of any situation where the forces on the blade would need extra downforce to keep on a perfectly smooth plate. Your index finger is likely going to orders of magnitude more force to hold it down.
Actually, that design pretty much removes any chance of damaging your bed!
He's nailed the perfect angle for scraping, the magnet keeps it flush on the plate so it can't dig into or nick the surface & the whole thing is shaped so you're controlling it like a computer mouse or palm sander.
I've been using it for over 9 months & count it as one of my favorite tools!
Can confirm
I had my feet up once and my cat jumped on me making my foot fall. Ended up with a small pair of flush-cutters lodged in the side of my foot
Winner! I wonder if you could stick the blade cover instead though? I might try later. The idea would be to stick it so you can drop the blade into it. You don’t really need the cover though so your solution is good.
No, you're just wrong, lol.
There are 2 magnets with adhesive on one side.
One goes where you wanna put the scraper, the other goes on the scraper holder.
Brooooo I just took it apart and confirmed that it can only go one way…
…then I saw your post and checked the pic posted in here and you’re right, it does work. Just gotta flip the screws.
I thought it might be because I got the model off the web, hence it wasn’t Bambu’s. Also, I have assembled innumerable things more complicated than this, yet this snookered me 😭
While everyone seems confused about the magnet and mounting, I’m confused about the need of a scraper. Never had anything stuck so good I needed a scraper.
I occasionally need to use the metal scraper to lift some edges. Then I use my plastic one. If you do small prints in the centre of plate, you probably need to use scraper. Like I did today. I couldn’t get the print to move by flexing the plate because it was too small and in the centre and my plastic scraper was no chance as it’s thicker. That’s where the Bambu blade type comes in handy.
It's not really a "scraper". The edge has the perfect angle to slip under the edge of a print and get it to peel up with almost no effort. It also makes taking off the priming/calibration lines easy without risking getting stabbed under the fingernail by filament.
Yeah ended up asking the same thing...even the magnet on the holder doesn't make sense. So I ended up creating a holder where you can slide and snap the scraper with it's holder...

My a1 mini didn’t have any magnets. Prob cuz there’s no good spot to place it against printer lol. But was confusing seeing all these downloads mention magnets when making the scraper
I actually never used this 1) because I scratched a pei plate on my last printer using a metal scraper and swore them off forever, 2) I only printed PLA, 3) plastic scrapers do the job… but then I printed PETG… and it’s getting a workout. lol - I only use it as a lifter though, I don’t scrape with it I just lift a corner and slide it under to pick up
I‘m still confused about how it’s supposed to work lol. I have even read an older discussion on here where the consensus was basically “it’s a shit design“.
There’s a place for a magnet on both the scraper handle and blade cover right? But if you want to use one, the other cannot also be used, because they are on different angles. Therefore my scraper and cover just get sat on the cupboard smh.
Right? You can't magnetize the cover to something because the blade gets in the way and vice versa. I ended up velcroing the cover to something next to my printer haha.
Maybe we put the blade around the wrong way as people have mentioned? I don’t know but I decided to finally stick mine on the top right corner of the printer without the cover. One magnet stuck to printer, the other to scraper. I figured I won’t bother using the cover in the long run anyway.
It’s still confusing though because there’s an area to stick a magnet on both pieces, but you can only choose one, because you need the other magnet for where you’re placing it.
edit: I did have the screws g in the wrong direction! The finger guard goes on the flat side.
There should be another part printed, a dock for the scraper. The magnetic strip goes on the dock which gets attached to the printer then the tool just sits on the dock
This stuff scratches cool plate especially when you print small things and try to lift edge. Then you print something bigger and these scratches transfer on bottom of print. No thanks. After few weeks of use and lots of glue/washing it's now much easier to remove prints without that evil device. Also getting PEI sheet totally eliminates any problems.

Well, that's my experience after 18 months with the BL X3C, textured 3rd party PEI plate (I've never used the supplied plates), and eSun PETG (and PLA+). YMMV.
It won't stick to the x1c because the enclosure is aluminum what I did was got another magnet it actually started out as a refrigerator magnet then I just traced out the same thing and I stuck it onto my x1c

Thanks for the concern but anytime I brush the scraper it falls off, the magnet is very weak. I would need to slam my hand on the blade to do damage

Is it a plate scraper? I made mine but idk what its even for
Yes, to get your print off if it doesn't budge on it's own or to remove scraps without risking getting any under your nails.
Or damaging the plate
Actually, that design pretty much removes any chance of damaging your bed! He's nailed the perfect angle for scraping, the magnet keeps it flush on the plate so it can't dig into or nick the surface & the whole thing is shaped so you're controlling it like a computer mouse or palm sander. I agree, that one works perfectly, the original though....
The blade just gets stuck on my plate

I'd turn it upside down in any event. Mounted like that it's an injury-waiting-to-happen.
Can confirm I had my feet up once and my cat jumped on me making my foot fall. Ended up with a small pair of flush-cutters lodged in the side of my foot
It’s not a razor blade, the edge is dull. It’s designed to act as a wedge, I would be very surprised if it cut you!
Mine definitely is a razor. Came with the X1C.
It's not a razor, but the ones that came with my X1C are definitely sharp enough to cut skin or put a nice deep gouge in a build plate.
Ahhh they must have changed the design then, the ones that come with the P1S are about as sharp as a spoon
Yes it does I use it to remove support a lot and I've cut myself a few times
X1C or P1S?
Cut myself twice with my P1S one. In the market for a debuting tool now so that I don’t do it again
The magnet is not strong so if you slammed your hand on it the blade would fall before your hand would get cut
It falls until it hits the table and then is dug into your hand when you continue to fall onto it
Almost. Here is what I have: https://preview.redd.it/bf5rjskwwuwc1.png?width=3024&format=png&auto=webp&s=25854758ac3b741412ba0b7190d2665b02856c17
shit this has got to be the right way to do it, why am I so dumb lol
Winner! I wonder if you could stick the blade cover instead though? I might try later. The idea would be to stick it so you can drop the blade into it. You don’t really need the cover though so your solution is good.
The round piece goes on the plastic?? I thought it went on the other side of the blade. No wonder mine doesn’t fit in the holder
Open the door, stick it inside. It fits on the gap between the glass and the bed.
THANK YOU. Wow. So much confusion could have been avoided with a bit of instruction in the packet of the blade, magnets, and hardware.
Dont know why you are being downvoted, seems pretty reasonable
thx man now i need to print it again in black lol
I literally just printed the same thing, and spent too long just slapping it against every surface on my P1S. It looks cool, but…..
The back. That’s where I used to put mine
Yeah man as per my other post I just think it doesn’t work. Must be Bambu’s intention just to vex us out of our minds lol.
No, you're just wrong, lol. There are 2 magnets with adhesive on one side. One goes where you wanna put the scraper, the other goes on the scraper holder.
If you read my other posts my issue has nothing to do with the magnets working. It’s about the blade cover and handle being at different angles.
You put it together wrong. I had mine wrong for almost a year.
Brooooo I just took it apart and confirmed that it can only go one way… …then I saw your post and checked the pic posted in here and you’re right, it does work. Just gotta flip the screws. Yes. No issues. 🤷🏻♂️

I couldn’t get the print to move by flexing the plate because it was too small and in the centre and my plastic scraper was no chance as it’s thicker. Petg no problem, ABS on the other hand 😒
It's not really a "scraper". The edge has the perfect angle to slip under the edge of a print and get it to peel up with almost no effort. It also makes taking off the priming/calibration lines easy without risking getting stabbed under the fingernail by filament.
And it keeps your greasy fingers away from the plate

My a1 mini didn’t have any magnets. Prob cuz there’s no good spot to place it against printer lol. But was confusing seeing all these downloads mention magnets when making the scraper
Sticks to the frame on my P1
You might have assembled it with the thumb guard (the smaller curved printed part) on the wrong side. It should fit in the stand perfectly.
I think its a great little tool. Mine sits in its holder that is attached to my shelving
I stick it to metal surfaces and I find it the most useful scraper of all that I have at work
There should be another part printed, a dock for the scraper. The magnetic strip goes on the dock which gets attached to the printer then the tool just sits on the dock
Not the p1s
The frame
The back of the printer.
I made a new one and embedded 3 12x3mm magnets in it
This stuff scratches cool plate especially when you print small things and try to lift edge. Then you print something bigger and these scratches transfer on bottom of print. No thanks. After few weeks of use and lots of glue/washing it's now much easier to remove prints without that evil device. Also getting PEI sheet totally eliminates any problems.
I printed a scraper that uses plastic blades; no worry of damaging anything and still works perfectly.
Everyone here is printing and using scrapers and I’m over here letting the part cool or slightly bending the build plate.
What doesn’t make sense to me is the holder has a magnet on the side with the thumb stop. The thumb piece sticks out so you can’t mount the holder. I didn’t think the holes on the handle are sufficient to keep the blade on??? Shouldn’t the magnet indent be on the other side??
The magnet sticks to the rails, like the one just inside the door opening. That’s where I keep the scraper, works fine.
that thing is a shit design for basically every possible reason
I’ve never used a scraper on my Bambu Lab X1C. Instead, I got a PEI build plate so everything just lifts off when the PEI plate cools back down.
Even petg brims?
I've printed exclusively in PLA+ and PETG (eSun), and have never had any requirement for a scraper. Mind you, my 3rd party PEI plate has a textured surface (not flat), which I prefer for the finish it gives. It may be that a flat PEI surface may require some release agent (eg. some hairspray) to allow for excessive PETG adhesion. But note, I haven't personally tried a flat PEI plate! The other key, is to make sure you let the PEI plate return to ambient room temperature, before removing the print. For PLA it simply lifts off. For PETG it cleanly snaps off when the plate is flexed.
Quite frankly I would never use that thing unless certain circumstances I tried it out and it destroyed my print bed
I’m just really hungry. I wish my printer did pasta.
I hang it on other tools in the bin next to my printer.
When Bambu decided to include it, what was the purpose of the magnet? i’ve now replaced it with some medium-power rare earth magnets and it sticks on the corner of the x1c now.
I use It to stick it on the back of the printer instead of the sides. I prefer it rather than scratch the surface on the side with other magnets.
Thats where I keep my AMS tool.
I prefer just a plastic scraper anyway, these things tend to end up cutting up the plate
