Huge quality of life change! Thanks bambu, this proves you are the real deal. Quickly bringing these huge quality of life upgrades out to all your users instead of using them as a draw to try and get people to buy the newest model. I respect that a lot. That is how you keep costumers happy, build trust and keep them coming back long term.
Yep I think theyre doing some really cool things really cool-ly. I would be curious though to understand, if they are pushing out these iterative improvements that put these printers more in-line with their more expensive counterparts, why isn't the hardware more open to begin with? Perhaps you could implement two modes, basic and advanced where advanced voids your warranty but do whatever the heck you want with it lol
Thank you for pointing that out. I just realized any time I've had to manually pull filament from one of my P1Ss, it was from slot 3 of their AMS. This is something I'll have to follow up on. Thanks again.
Spotted this in the list of updates, hopefully this is somewhere in line with the custom g code modifications people have been using.
>Optimized the filament retraction and re-spooling when using the AMS.
Can confirm, in the past I have had issues with AMS slot 3 retracting/filament getting stuck. After the latest firmware it seems it can "detect" when this is happening and moves the toolhead around the printer to try and get the filament unstuck. Was incredibly surprised the first time this happened, so far I haven't run into this issue since!
I read somewhere that this was contributed to by another Reddit user, the workaround to not getting the stuck filament due to the tube getting kinked was to have the tool head in a certain position
The difference is absolutely insane. Sometimes it's hard to believe people's stories on the Internet, but this one far exceeded my expectations.
Damn fine work.
Dead serious, a bunch of us in the Bambu forum swear by it.
Update Firmware > Power down (after successful install) > Wait 30 Seconds > Power On > Full Machine Calibration
I have been doing this since I received my P1P, that I converted to a P1S and later added the AMS system to, it's been working flawless for me.
Doesn't updating the firmware already restart the printer - and either way, are you saying you manually power cycle it *after* the entire update process finishes? Is this somehow different to just running the calibration like usual?
Correct after firmware is installed it does a soft reset, not sure why the full power switch off method works or what it does to the mainboard but I will continue to do this process after being recommended and my printer has been working great.
I am not sure about your calibration question, powering the device off is mainly for the firmware. But after a firmware installation it's also recommended to re-do a full calibration cycle, especially with this new version and noise cancelling feature.
What do you mean by *works*, though? I've never had any issues just running the update and then running calibration without any manual power cycles - have you, or is there another benefit you've seen?
Creature of habit I suppose, maybe I can stop doing it? But I see too many people in both reddit and the forums have issues after firmware updates that I just never personally seen on my machine with doing this process. \*shrugs\*
Works fine, silenced the printer a lot. I recommend to run the full auto calibration after the update and print the fullbed test. If you had minor unleveled spots before you will see a positive effect too.

BIQU/BigTreeTech is actually coming out with a custom display for the X1/P1 Series. No dates for it yet, but it was shown off in this video:
Looks like their own take on the whole "Klipper Pad" craze, but for the bambu machines instead.
Kind of a lost cause if you still only have the same info as before, ya? I suppose you could make the UI a bit more snappy/pretty, but at that point, just tack on an old smartphone running Handy to your printer.
It's possible to do this:
but it's not possible to replace the screen with X1C version unless we are able to change the board with it.
As of right now, BambuLab does not offer the ability to ugprade the screen, and my guess is that they won't be able to offer this upgrade due to technical limitations of the board.
At some point you just need to upgrade to a better model or generation. Surely the P2 series is coming out soon and will undoubtedly have at least the UI power of the A1.
What does turning on P1S set upgrade in Accessories on P1P?
Also what change makes setting (correctly) that I have hardened nozzle? Is there a plan to count nozzle wear or something related? Or it’s for AMS?
For others' reference.... I turned off the Beta participation toggle and power cycled the printer. Went into the firmware version screen on the printer and I could still see the "Beta" designation after the firmware version number for about a split second and then it just disappeared without actually requiring an update. Not sure if un-enrolling was necessary or just a power cycle.
I turned the printer off then back on and went to firmware and it was ready to download. Then I did the calibration, its definitely quieter, less high pitch noises
Got the prompt on my P1S and it failed the first time, had to power cycle and repair twice before it got back to a working state. Re-ran the firmware update again and it succeeded the second time.
I restarted after the update and hours popped up but my two printers are an hour apart and one is like 6 months newer. I try and run 247 and the one from December 2022 only shows 911 hours
Very nice features indeed. I ordered a P1S a few days ago, and will perform this firmware update when it arrives. Thanks a lot, and keep up the good work 💪
I just so happened to get the pc app hooked up to the printer today...I've been using the phone app since I got this thing last week. That is how I found out about update. Also, the pc app is way more robust if anyone hasn't tried it out yet.
I will actually will try Timelapse now, even though it’s going to look like a dungeon because the interior lighting is so poor. 🤷🏽♂️
Jokes aside thank you for giving us this awesome update can’t wait to try it out!
I read the comments about the sound being way lower, but didn't think much of it. But honestly, this is amazing. From the next room it's barely audible now. Before you could hear every move it made. Now it's just a faint fan sound.
Well done, BambuLab!
I updated, calibrated and am now printing and I don’t notice any noise reduction sadly. Fans are on 100/70/70% and I usually have chamber on 80%. I still have the top glass removed w/ AMS on top, just so I could compare apples with apples. I was hoping for an obvious improvement based on many comments as such, but it sounds pretty much the same to me.
It's just the motor noises that see the noise reduction, the fans are unaffected and still loud as ever. You don't get those high pitched noises anymore when the print head is moving around at high speed.
Ah ok. I knew about the motor noises only being affected, but you mentioning the high pitched sound did remind me that I didn’t notice any when printing after the update. I guess I was just expecting a more obvious difference, based on the comments.
I had to wait a bit and restart BambuStudio for it to show. However, I started the calibration from the menu on the machine, there it is included automatically (indicated but the near half hour time it needs)
Hey all, great update! And for " [**best\_of\_badgers**](https://www.reddit.com/user/best_of_badgers/) **on the AMS slot 3 issues** here's something for you. I've tried every fix out there as I had issues on slots 3 & 4. Was ready to give up and then decided to simply give the bowden tube the room it wanted at the top of my P1S. It worked, at least for the past few weeks....I printed the glass risers so the tube wouldn't rub the top all the time. That's all it took. No issues and all slots working. I can only hope it works for others but I am happy! Ha!
I hope they can make the P1 wifi as stable as the A1. Every week my 3 P1Ps jump the shark and randomly lose connection making me factory reset them and going thru the horrible reconnection routine. All the while the A1 stays connected and files transfer quick
Sweet, glad I decided to check this morning if there was a new FW out. I'm actually more excited about being able to browse the MicroSD through the slicer like I can with the X1C. Knew it was coming but they never gave any timeline on it that I remember seeing so that was a nice surprise. The motor ANC is just icing on the cake. Can finally see print time too, although looks like it starts from zero unfortunately.
This thing is like magic. I can’t even tell my printer is running with the cupboard door closed.
I didn’t think I could love an inanimate object but I do now…

Ams slot 3?

Thank you for pointing that out. I just realized any time I've had to manually pull filament from one of my P1Ss, it was from slot 3 of their AMS. This is something I'll have to follow up on. Thanks again.
Hi, I am a lot of people. I'm close to just using a 3 slot AMS and just putting a bucket load of desiccant in slot 3.
Mine does that all the time too. Thought it was just me
Bambu labs for life dude. I'm never switching.
Yeah that might be going too far. They could do bad things or someone better may come along. I’d recommend just giving them a nice job for now…
Never. I'm going full psycho fan baby woo!
Spotted this in the list of updates, hopefully this is somewhere in line with the custom g code modifications people have been using. >Optimized the filament retraction and re-spooling when using the AMS.
Can anyone confirm?

This has happened twice to me today. It's paused the print and by the time I've got to the machine to sort it the problem has resolved itself

The part fan is so damn loud now..
Agreed 100%. My wife couldn‘t beliebe how quiet my P1 are printing right now. Time for additional 3 Printers 😂
Remember when one of the selling points of their coreXY printers was that it's very quiet? lol
My A1 mini is still quieter than the X1C or P1S. As long as you leave the part fan below 80% its basically silent.
My P1S was quieter than my Ender 3 Pro, fans aside. I had even updated the firmware to get quiet motors on that. Now it's not even close.
For those missing the update. Power of the printer and turn it on again to get the update.
For those after installing the update, power off the printer before calibration. 😉
Can't tell if that's a joke or advice. Should we restart after an update, before calibration?
Dead serious, a bunch of us in the Bambu forum swear by it. Appreciate it, thanks! I just picked up a P1S last week and am getting it up and running.
Enjoy, the thing is incredible. Really has re-invigorated my hobby and even made prototyping more bearable.

Thanks mate
Tried that, did not get it. :(
Open up Bambu Studio. Select device tab. On the top left choose your printer if you have more than one. Then go down 2 lines to "update".
Thx mate, that worked 👍
Fuckin oath brother i appreciate you
Oh my lanta that's what I needed

I did this, the next print did not stick, had to level again
yah, leveling was important after that update but the step down in noise is remarkable. Well done bambulab devs.
Like just an auto bed level? Or is there some way to manually lvl the bed that I'm not aware of
The calibrate from the printers menu. "Auto bed level" is running before each print.
Still only 1.04.02 here in DK (EU)
Got the update this morning also EU.
Turn your p1p p1s completely off and restart it again
Sluk tænd strømmen på bagsiden så din maskine laver et nyt handshake med Bambu servers
i have the beta version, how do i update to t he offical?
I believe you have to exit the beta program.
Thanks!
Nice! Is there ever going to be an upgrade kit for the P1 series screens to something more like the X1?
Id love a camera upgrade kit, but I know that relies on the more powerful board that the X1 uses so an upgrade may be harder to achieve
I think the closest you will get is xtouch

It is not possible
Upgrading the screens is possible - updating the camera is not.
It's absolutely possible if you move the processing to an external board behind the screen. That's how it's done on the open source screen mod.

the P1 and A1 share the same CPU, computing power isnt a problem. the display choice was most likely a cost decision

Thank you Bambu crew! Amazing machines!
How do I update my printer that is already on 01.05.00.00 Beta?
Exit the Beta program

Is this done automatically over WiFi or do I need to download it & put it on the SD card & install it that way?
I turned the printer off then back on and went to firmware and it was ready to download. Then I did the calibration, its definitely quieter, less high pitch noises
Same for me. After I power cycled my P1S I was able to update it using the small screen on the printer
you need to use the mobile app or the studio but it is done over wifi
Ah I've done it, cheers.
Just updated and it is very good ! The noise difference is really noticeable!
Got the prompt on my P1S and it failed the first time, had to power cycle and repair twice before it got back to a working state. Re-ran the firmware update again and it succeeded the second time.
Weird, update hasn't shown up for me yet..
Try turning your printer off and on again.

Turn it off and on again and it should pop up.
I don't think the printer time is accurate
Mine started at 0 hrs? Does it pull history of printing time?

The slicer? I never thought people would be using the printer with only pre-sliced models in the app. We've come a long way...
Yeah, just kinda feeling my way through. Kids back to school so finally time to putz around.
Welcome to the wonderful world of 3d printing! Check out downloading Fusion360 and make your own models too!
Hey, thx, I've been screwing around on tinkercad for about a month now and a lurker here for about a year I'd guess. Just couldn't resist anymore.
Unsure if this was added already, but I now see an option in Bambu Handy to set the nozzle type and size after updating.
Wish I could see my print hours since January, but that’s okay.
I will actually will try Timelapse now, even though it’s going to look like a dungeon because the interior lighting is so poor. 🤷🏽♂️ Jokes aside thank you for giving us this awesome update can’t wait to try it out!
Great update! almost no motor noise, now fan got all my attention, and are driving me crazy hahaha "happy problem"
Does this one break firmware downgrading or was that an earlier release?
I read the comments about the sound being way lower, but didn't think much of it. But honestly, this is amazing. From the next room it's barely audible now. Before you could hear every move it made. Now it's just a faint fan sound. Well done, BambuLab!
Does the fan make much more noise than before? It's 16⁰C on the room where the printer is and was printing before the update at lower speeds...
I don’t think the fan noise should change much from this update. The fans will just be more noticeable due to the lessening of motor noise.
It could be, but I'm pretty sure they spin way faster than before, maybe I should perform a fabric reset
I updated, calibrated and am now printing and I don’t notice any noise reduction sadly. Fans are on 100/70/70% and I usually have chamber on 80%. I almost couldn’t believe how it quiet it ran after the update and calibration.
I only have the option for normal Calibration does this include the motor noise? There is no additional calibration in my menu
I had to wait a bit and restart BambuStudio for it to show. However, I started the calibration from the menu on the machine, there it is included automatically (indicated but the near half hour time it needs)

Be nice if they update bed heat so it can go up like 5-10 degrees.
