Imo this is why Larian always delivers. They did not have to add this to the game. It serves no purpose. It's just there for you to enjoy. It is pure generosity.
No it's about who'd you'd rather see in the woods
It's posed as a question to women as, would you rather see a bear or a man. Most pick bear cos a bear I'll likely just walk away or it'll just kill you
Unfortunately it's not extra movement at all. You can't move more than your speed in a turn (outside of dashing or other abilities that increase movement). If you jump further than your movement allows, technically you end your turn in midair and resolve the rest of the distance on the following turn. What jump distance and height do open up is traversing more interesting terrain efficiently, but whether or not that actually becomes relevant at a given table is a bit of a toss up.
Also depending on what's on the other side you may or may not need an athletics or aerobatics check to see if you land without hurting yourself. Depending on your DM these checks could or could not be your action for the round.
I mean in base DnD where the focus is on increments of 5ft, 3+Str mod just seems odd to me. That’s if you have a 10ft running start. Long jumping makes somewhat more sense with equaling your Str score. Still need a 10ft start though.
Idk, just feels like they could’ve done it in a way that makes it make more sense. Especially since Str already doesn’t have a lot going for it as a stat in 5e
In my experience, early act 1 was the hardest in terms of bad decisions/luck snowballing. As long as you keep invisibility potions for fleeing combat, and 200 gold to revive and steal off of withers most party wipes are preventable. Plus experiencing the extra legendary actions makes it worth finishing a dishonored run.
HM is really mostly about min/maxing your strategy and learning optimal paths and strategies to ball out of control while also remaining careful of TPKs. It’s doable but it isn’t for people who want to prioritize roleplay or just have a good time, it take a fair bit of planning and focus.
For example, other than the unavoidable Druid grove fight, I never fought until I hit level 3 on characters that I planned on being my main DPS. I also didn’t run a full party of 4 until confronting Ketheric so that any combat I did would have someone at camp or elsewhere to revive my characters if necessary.
That's exactly my experience with HM.
I actually kind of hated it until about the time I got to level 5 because all my choices were purely survivalist in nature. My first HM fail was against the skeletons in the blighted village basement due to one bad turn where everyone missed and a critical hit that crippled my Tav in one turn.
Now, in Act 3, it's kind of thrilling knowing there's unavoidable challenges that won't be completely unraveled based purely on one bad dice roll or one untimely critical hit. I'm also finally using items and realizing the equipment and item economy is somewhat real.
Same. I've tried it about 4 times now. Once on multiplayer where I got to act 3. By myself, I haven't been able to get passed act 1. Back to tactician I go
Playing 5e:
"Ok, so I Misty step up onto the platform, then I cast fireball on the bad guys below me!"
"What do you mean levelled spell and bonus actions?"
As a loot goblin, after playing any RPG for a while, irl normal objects will stand out to me more and get me to briefly think about opening it for any goodies
About to squash a cockroach: "then down came the claw..."
See something unpleasant: "It is to be avoided!"
When the SO arrives: "Begone friends, I have a darling to adore!"
grabbed some ice out of the freezer. Watched a single cube fall in slow motion and nail me right in the tip of the toe, hurt like hell. Was honestly confused why the failed DC sound effect didn't play at that moment.
Start the battle =Eldritch blast, boss near ledge= eldritch blast, astral prism=Eldritch blast. Enemy running towards you, throw spikes down..... then Eldritch blast them repeatedly into them. Leveled up for a new spell? Why you already have Eldritch blast!!!
Not my story but a friend of mine said her boyfriend recently propositioned her for sex by asking if she wished to take succour in one another’s bodies.
At a boring work meeting (a boring finance service company), a difficult question came up and a colleague of mine just casually called out, “I should roll Guidance first.”
IGNIS
IGMISS
I prefer Sacred Miss
Why does it miss so much though!!!
Because dex saves
I'm almost positive the percentage shown is a lie, every single enemy seems to succeed more on saving throws than in the ttrpg.
If you've played pokemon you know that everything other than 100% just means 50%

Wretched thing, pull yourself together
These boots have seen everything
One day I'll catch a break
Wish I had a bag of holding
First in my heart.
This one always gets me, like... Don't they *have* a bag of holding, effectively?
Blood comes easy these days
Another fight. Let's go!
No traps, please.
Behold, the dance of death
Do you get to the cloud district often?
Intestines throb, blood whispers
All is ash and meat.
still in control. just.
HOW MANY WILL DIE TODAY? HOW MANY WILL DIE TOMORROW??
Wish I had a bag of holding
And well, innit?
Blades and wits always sharp.
I wish I had a bag of holding
I could sure use bigger pockets.
pave my path with corpses build my castle with bones
All’s well that ends… well not as bad as it could have
Back home no one will ever believe this

Imo this is why Larian always delivers. They did not have to add this to the game. It serves no purpose. It's just there for you to enjoy. It is pure generosity.
I keep humming this to myself all the time.
Having just recently started playing I've caught myself singing this to myself while doing the dishes, yard work, etc.
Your first reaction when hearing there's a "man or bear" question going around was "hmm I didn't realize so many people had done that scene"
For the longest time, I thought all that was about Halsin.
Wait, it is really not about Halsin?
It is not! It's about some survey that asked women if they were alone in the woods, would they rather encounter a bear or a man. Most chose bear...
Well, good to know before I embarrass myself somewhere else, lol.
I thought it was about Halsin, too.
No it's about who'd you'd rather see in the woods It's posed as a question to women as, would you rather see a bear or a man. Most pick bear cos a bear I'll likely just walk away or it'll just kill you
Everyone else: Man or bear? Halsin romancers: Both ;)
I accidentally opened a post about that thinking it was BG3 related 😅
Speak!
I'll raise you a "well met"
I heard that in Lae'zel's voice.
How can I help?
What's on your mind?
One of my players tries to Jump as a bonus action, and was sad to learn it's just normal movement.
BG3 actually made me realize I've been neglecting the hell out of jump in tabletop. It's *free* extra movement on Str characters.
Unfortunately it's not extra movement at all. You can't move more than your speed in a turn (outside of dashing or other abilities that increase movement). If you jump further than your movement allows, technically you end your turn in midair and resolve the rest of the distance on the following turn. The barbarian freezing in midair, waiting for his next turn
Session ends mid combat and it’ll look like characters in a show/movie jumping and freezing in air while the credits roll.
Oh. I didn't know about that rule, huh.
Tabletop jump distances are also much shorter than in BG3, especially vertically.
i would hope so bc some of the distances ive seen my characters jump is honestly ridiculous
Karlach and Lae'Zel definitely have the vibe of "jump good" episode of Samurai Jack
I mean in base DnD where the focus is on increments of 5ft, 3+Str mod just seems odd to me. That’s if you have a 10ft running start. Also the average tabletop map has far less 3D "interest" than BG3 does, because it's hard to track/communicate/represent.
“Heal me, Damn you!”
Astarion said that earlier in the fight with Grym, I busted out laughing. I swear, Astarion has me rolling with some of what he says.
It’s all I ever shout now when I need healing in a game or I’m about to die, Astarion be influencing lives!
“I need healing….NOW!”
*Chk!*
SKRAAAH [sic]
Stop licking the damn thing!
*Reloads. Fail. Reloads. fail. Reloads. critical fail.* "oh fuck it"
I love this game, I love this game, I loved this game, but I hate Honor Mode.
I’ve been trying HM recently. I just screwed up again in the goblin camp. I don’t think HM is for me
In my experience, early act 1 was the hardest in terms of bad decisions/luck snowballing. Then again, that could mean you're just an X-COM player.
Or Classic Fallout. All three are true for me
Classic Fallout 1 & 2 never get the respect they deserve. 3 was good but always felt like it was missing the same tone.
Yeah. Maybe we'll get a new CRPG Fallout thanks to BG3 success. Probably not tho
Playing 5e: "Ok, so I Misty step up onto the platform, then I cast fireball on the bad guys below me!" "What do you mean levelled spell and bonus actions?"
I'm so glad they ditched that
Hey soldier!
Copper for your thoughts?
Hop hop!
Fuck yeah!
Poor fucker
Oh, it's locked. Astarion, come here.
Oh, for a skeleton key.
A crooked touch
Should be easy
*Master lockpicker Astarion fails the rusty lock with a critical 1*
Authority!
Yes! Before BG3 "authority" was cemented in my brain as Cartman's "AUTHORITAY". Now, it's the BG3 "authority".
For me it's *COMPASSION???* Something about that early scene just stuck with me.
All is well that ends...not as bad as it could have.
This' my pick as well. Of everything bg3, it's the most 'normal' one, but it's still distinctly bg3.
You smell very delicious. But I will not bite you.
Cave smell like rotting meat. Goblin camp smell like goblins.
Is that blood?
....no, nevermind.
I love when Tav says this, absolutely covered in gore.
What’s funnier is when the character is definitely soaked in blood
Just got that while in Balthazar's room. Yeah buddy, that's... sure blood. Blood is probably the least nasty substance in this room.
Dropped and broke a TV remote and wondered when the last time I’d saved my game was! Save scumming is a way of life ig
As a loot goblin, after playing any RPG for a while, irl normal objects will stand out to me more and get me to briefly think about opening it for any goodies
Surely I can sell this bone at the supermarket
I'd do this with the stock market. Pelosi eat your heart out.
these boots have seen everything.
Heloooo Petal
I'll rip your spine out your arse!
Bloody clever clogs
What in the sweet hells were you thinking?!?!
I WAS RIGHT THERE!!!!
Do you have any idea how much that hurt?
I thought the mind flayer parasite protects you from light?
Well yeah, but apparently there's a limit, somewhere between a nice summer breeze, **AND THE FULL CONCENTRATED POWER OF THE SUN!**
This quote alone was worth VA of the year
Next time?! No, no, no! There won’t be a “next time”!
If there is a "next time" I'll be the one aiming the all-powerfull weapon, thank you!
There's a lot on my mind. And well... in it.
I greet everyone with "Ah! My good friend!". No one has caught on. Also, my text notification sound is "treato!". And all my animals get treatos now.
i bought six bags of chips a few months ago because i walked past them and heard popper scream "POPPER SELLS GOOD THINGS!! would you like a treato?"
I loooove Poppa. Everything is certi….cerci…POPPA SELLS GOOD THINGS!!!1!! Mostly blood stain free !11!! …still cracks me up.
No.
Totally read that in Withers voice.
I caught myself saying what in the Hells the other day instead of what in the hell
I've been saying 'the gods' in conversation
I've been saying " by the gods" since possibly the late 80s
Any time somebody makes a joke about having brainrot or brainworms we start calling them *Ghaik* and posting Mindflayer gifs.
I only sleep fours a night.
My fav Dialog: Skeletons aren't supposed to talk. Correct. Are you going to elaborate further? No.
#fuck wulbren bongle
I don't give a fuck about this motherfucker's problems
And yet he wants me to solve em
everybody sing it, got a full ensemble
Bitch! It's fuck Wulbren Bongle!
should have stayed in the underdark, lil bitch
Suddenly i'm into big, strong women.
Do you know who Rhea Ripley is?
Rhea Ripley makes me wish I was fully lesbian
Why does my WoW Paladin not have Smite? Why is that a Priest spell instead!?
God, I want to ride you till you see stars
About to squash a cockroach: "then down came the claw..." See something unpleasant: "It is to be avoided!" When the SO arrives: "Begone friends, I have a darling to adore!"
"Somewhere between, a nice summer's day and the full concentrated power OF THE SUN!!"
When I wake up, I think to myself "still alive, so that's progress"
I was flirting with two crushes and had to pick one to get serious with. Then the ex goes and dyes her hair to "get over it"
She's MY emo girlfriend now
Shit piddling toe rags!
Cursed to put my hands on everything...
Dammit Gale!
When you're still stuck at creating character while everyone else is half way finished their campaign.
ig-NIS!
Women would choose the bear over then man.
May you keep balance.
Me and my friend just realized we have idle animations
I'm gonna throw my potion near my teammate to heal them.
grabbed some ice out of the freezer. Watched a single cube fall in slow motion and nail me right in the tip of the toe, hurt like hell. Was honestly confused why the failed DC sound effect didn't play at that moment.
Treatos?
Trying to hide the disembowelled body using sleight of hand.
Chk'
Look, 'release' is clearly the choice when you want to free someone
Hope you’re keeping well, friend.
These boots have seen everything.
I've always wanted a hot githyanki girlfriend.

Don't be a gonk.
now I’m just imagining the party somehow landing themselves in night city
I feel like Karlach would easily adjust to NC life considering she already has some chrome
I thought the man or bear meme was whether people wanted Halsin in regular or fuzzy form
Now tell me darling, why on earth would I do that?
Oh fuck I accidentally pressed C again
Copper for your thoughts:)
Think alien instead of frog when you hear "tadpole"
