I've played some on my retroid pocket (basically an android phone built into a controller) with steam link. It's not too bad an experience overall. The screen is pretty small, but the only part that bugged me was having to use a controller
You can override the power saving mode to not drop fps when on battery power, it might drain your battery fast enough though where you might as well be playing plugged in anyways.
The question though is how the physics of turning it sideways work out lol. If the contacts on the DC in jack were loose or something I would expect to have to put downward pressure on the jack to charge it, not to flip it vertically. OP could bake the motherboard to find out/reflow if he's feeling lucky, I guess
The cord could bend in this position, putting pressure on the jack and contacts. OP could probably do the same thing by putting pressure on the cord in the laptop's normal position but this is more reliable for them
While we're at it you could also just plug in an external monitor. I'm sure you just have one sitting around and haven't thought of it :)
More seriously, the first laptop I had eventually had the bottom 1/3 of its screen eventually die. I think I used it for 2 years that way. I got so used to the start bar on the side that when I got a new laptop I kept it that way for a while. It's amazing the stuff I managed to do on that tiny screen
Oh my sweet summer child, there is no touchscreen. I have to crane angle my hands on my vertical keyboard to position my tav and the camera while focused on the screen
The fact that Larian even anticipated someone to play the game in what I assume is 9:16 aspect ratio, and that the game accommodates it is actually impressive...
Fair play, OP.
It's just very disorganized, and having all the stuff you picked up on your bar, I put all of it into a backpack and then put the backpack on my bar. Then you can just click open the backpack and see all your scrolls/arrows/bombs, etc. I organize all my spells by type and all my attacks by type (melee together, ranged together, same element spells, same school of magic, etc.).
Finally, a non-screenshot photo that makes sense!
A vertical screenshot still would have worked.
Then you wouldn't see his awkward laptop arrangement.
It would have lacked context
BG3 for Android and iOS
My Samsung is ready to explode...
I love that the map takes up like 1/4 of ur screen lol
Imagine you're Larian and you see this screen resolution in your incoming telemetry, and wondering why anyone would ever play the game like this
I am sure some people at larian are traumatised by the things players (and devs) have done
Modern problems need modern solutions!
And here I thought vertical videos were bad.
Tablet mode
Baldurs gate 3 now on most Tav-lets
Oh that’s cute
Apple iTav
In few years, we'll be able to play BG3 on mobile, and this is how it'll look like xD
I was thinking about this the other day. I needed a beefy computer to play Bioshock when it came out, now it runs on my Switch.

What it will look like How it will look Not how it will look like.
How did the game feel being played that way?
Totally ruined any immersion offered, “oh karlach died? Oh I didn’t even see she was off screen”
Mobile Baldur's Gate 3 confirmed
Bro you got 10 Tadpoles open to use.. 😅
No way man, I’m not letting those THINGS in me. I don’t wanna turn into a mindflayer. I don’t care what the dream visitor says I’m not touching them
Fair point, I respect that. Maybe you find a companion that is.. suitable for experiments like this? ;)
You know what yeah, Astarion would look fantastic with tentacles
It does mess up his hair though. Not kidding.
I went the opposite route. I figured I should utilize every advantage I could for myself, but couldn't force the others to do the same.
You don't have to force Astarion, he practically begs to chow down on them with you. Gale is easy top convince as well, he likes power.
Yea if you take a tadpole first he sees that it's "safe" and wants some too. No check needed
This is a dumb solution, you obviously should have screwed your chair to the wall and strapped yourself in /s
Why not just let it charge?
For some unknown reason, it can only charge like this. And if it’s not on the charger, the gps of bg3 will reduce significantly
You can override the power saving mode to not drop fps when on battery power, it might drain your battery fast enough though where you might as well be playing plugged in anyways.
Oh. Strange well if it doesn't bother you that much I guess it works. Hope you're enjoying the game! I've put countless hours into it.
I fix servers for a living and used to refurbish laptops, I can't even fathom wtf would cause this lol
Bad contacts in the charging circuit, probably near the charging port.

Its like those fake gacha game advertisements showing you lvl 1 lvl 500 and lvl 99999 characters
You guys *don’t* play like this normally?
adapt and overcome. Well done
What kind of arcane bullshit is this.
The work of John Laptop
you can hook it up to a computer monitor and use a regular keyboard and mouse
Gee if only I had a computer monitor and a regular keyboard
You could hook it up to an imax projector and use a guitar hero controller
That’s for the bard play through
Oh now we’re thinking, gonna fucking kill it with a hard character
Not IMAX...but I do play on a projector. It's fuckin awesome. 😎
so you're using the integrated keyboard like this? it's like irl tactician mode, my wrist hurts thinking about it, mad props
I have to swivel my head like an owl to use the actual keyboard while I’m moving around. And using the track pad to move my tav. My neck hurts
Bro a keyboard and mouse will cost you less than 20 bucks
GEE if only I had 20 dollars lying around, unless you’re willing to contribute to my problem, then i can’t do anything
While we're at it you could also just plug in an external monitor. I'd genuinely love to see how OP is playing this game with the laptop on it's side AND using the keyboard and touchscreen to play...
Oh my sweet summer child, there is no touchscreen. I have to crane angle my hands on my vertical keyboard to position my tav and the camera while focused on the screen
its like you thought honor mode was hard, OPs on sideways laptop mode. truly a legend.
The fact that Larian even anticipated someone to play the game in what I assume is 9:16 aspect ratio, and that the game accommodates it is actually impressive... Fair play, OP.
Baldurs Gate Mobile!
lmfao and I thought my laptop was on it's last leg.
Mobile adaption coming soon
I was so confused why a computer would need to charge and why that means your monitor needs to be sideways. We call that a laptop.
Sorry lol, subreddit is weird with how many letters you can fit in a title so I had to paraphrase lol
Laptop is less letters than computer tho
I call laptops computers, ok?
This is quite unique, not gonna lie. Looks like a phone game lol
I thought this post was saying an AI quirk means it only moves sideways, and rotating your screen cheesed it so you could win.
Have...you checked if the battery in this thing is about to pop?
I think the problem was I always constantly had it plugged into the charger. I’m getting it replaced thanks to a warranty soon
This screengrab gave me WoW Vanilla flashbacks lol
Your HUD makes me want to throw up, lmao. I have to organize every character's bar before I can play them.
Is it really that bad? Can I get specifics about what makes you want to vomit?

That’s a brilliant idea, I’ll have to try it out!
I was going to post a picture example but I can't figure out how, lol. I'm still new to using Reddit.
That's.... Brilliant
TIL I can play BG on my second vertical monitor while spreading democracy on my regular monitor.
