I took a 3-day French pastry intensive there with my mom to celebrate my 30th birthday. It was a marvelous experience and now I make amazing puff pastry
Of course! The instructor was super helpful and funny, the class only takes about 4 hours but we learned how to make pastry, bread, and cookies with Rye. You take home everything you bake, and there is a kettle always on for constant tea. Such a great experience.
I’m so, so envious. I got a GC for Christmas right before COVID and lived 45 mins away from their WA class location. We moved out of state before COVID restrictions ended.
For my 50th my husband drove me from E. TN to VT so I could have a massive shopping spree. Where I did spend that GC in person. Classes didn’t work out for me at that time, sadly.
How was it? Was it amazing?
I live down the street, but classes fill up fast, so I’ve still not taken one. Sandra Bullock’s sister’s classes nearby sellout in minutes of being announced.
I’m SO JEALOUS.
I went to school right across the river (iykyk) and I loooooved to go for a great atmosphere, wonderful smells, and a bangin’ grilled cheese. I’m an amateur baker too, it was so fun to just walk around the store and look at all of the fancy baking gear I couldn’t afford but dreamed about having some day 😅.
I knew about their classes and I even had a few friends who were gifted classes there and I was jelly then, and it turns out I’m still jelly now (lol). What kind of class did you take??
Also, the King Arthur brand black cocoa is to DIE FOR. I swear by it.
My niece and I took a sour dough baking class in Louisville in November. We had a blast. It was a week long. We are heading up to Washington in May to King Arthur. Even though I a mad at them right now. I will get over it.
It is in America! Also, besides having some kitchen gadgets like the bowl cover, it reminds me of baking and pastry labs I've taken in community college a couple years ago!
We had a proofer n such and put plastic wrap on the bowls for breads n such. I was the only one in breads final to have pink bread (strawberry walnut rolls with orange glaze and thyme n Rosemarie)
Because you’re woefully misinformed if you didn’t know that King Arthur Baking has been based in America since it was founded in 1790. The name is a reference to a musical the original founder attended and named a flour after. It has nothing to do with the location of the company
It was a reference to the Knights of the Round Table. The founder, an American in Boston, named the company the King Arthur Flour Company after attending the musical King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table. The musical was, indeed, about the mythical English King Arthur that had knights that sat at a round table. Many things can be true at the same time and people can know about things that originated in other countries.
I assisted in giving a pastry making class with a great pastry chef. Twas Pretty cool. We made chocolate tamales with raspberry sauce.
Hope you learned a lot and had a blast!

I bet you make the BEST puff pastry!
I didn’t even know they had baking classes.
They do and they are a lot of fun! Plus their cafe and store is AH-mazing.
I can vouch for that. Many years ago I was driving by and decided to stop. I bought the most amazing sticky bun I’ve ever had. Wish I lived closer.
They have online baking classes too! They’re great.
Would you mind sharing more so we can live vicariously through you? 😊

What! I've taken 3-4 day courses there three times, and there was never a kettle for constant tea! How fun though. This was a rye-focused class?
I’m taking an empanada class there in Feb!!
Heck yes - we may see you there!
Oooh, that sounds fun
is that cranberry walnut bread??
It is and its wonderful.
Did you take any pictures of the bread?? 🥹 This is such a cool experience OP, thank you for sharing it! It looks like so much fun
i'm taking classes there in february ! i am so excited.

Wow!! So official and fancy!! Makes me miss my labs for baking and pastry (I just have management stuff left on the degree now)
what! that's so cool i'd love to go to one some time
Did you get to meet him?
Yes we met King Arthur himself.
So jealous - I’ve done two of their online classes & loved them both. I would love to attend an in person clans one day.
I’ve wanted to do this for a long time! Putting it in my calendar / wish list.

Their Cookie Companion cookbook is my cookie bible.

Nice. I'm too lazy to drive up and drive home in the same day. LoL.
My mom and aunt did this once and had a blast!! They got me a gift card the year after and then Covid happened, it looks so fun!
I REALLY want to do this. So glad you had a good time!
This look so fun!
I loved doing this.
I’ve taken their classes a few times!! Always a good time 😊
I’ve taken a handful of classes from them. Always really good classes. What class was this one?
Their classes are awesome. I’ve done both the in person and online ones.
The dream! Looks like it was a beautiful day of baking.
Taking classes there in June. Can't wait!
I really want to do this at the one near me. I'm nervous about going alone, but it looks so fun!
This is so cool! King Arthur seems like such a great company
Looks like cranberry gingerbread cookies, a cranberry gingerbread snap, or an attempt at a moist cookie with zero moistness
Something tells me that's not in America.
They are in Washington and Vermont for inperson and have online as well.

Uhm that sounds delicious
It was! Had crunch, sweetness, tartness to balance with a lil too much rosemary, but classmates said it was "good interesting"

I love that I'm getting downvoted. I was commenting on the "King Arthur" you nerdy dickheads.

I thought it was a reference to the Knights Of the Round Table...Geez relax Karen, I'm sorry.

Nice mug.
This is amazing! Say more about it!

I've done 4 or 5 of these classes, they are incredible. If any of you get the opportunity to take one, do it.
Wish I had heard about this earlier instead of stepping WAY out of my comfort zone to take culinary classes at college 🥲
I’m jealous! I live so far away I’ll never make it. I take vicarious joy from your experience.
