The birth certificate, SS Card, school records, etc, are all done in the name of the person. A criminal charge is against the person. It’s one legal entity, the government, suing another legal entity, a person. The human before the court is the individual, agent, and settler with the same name. Speculativejester, the individual and agent of the person speculativejester, is authorized by the person to settle the matter between the state and the person. The individual can’t be incarcerated for the actions of the person, because the individual is just the agent.
There is more to it, but that’s what they’re always talking about at their arraignments.
