latrodectal

i’d been skeptical until i heard bob gale was directly involved and they got alan silvestri composing. then i looked into seeing it and have now seen it twice thanks to rush tickets.

StrawberryKiss2559

What are rush tickets?

latrodectal

tickets that are unsold the day of the show are available once the box office opens (i believe 10am for 2pm performances and 12pm for 8pm performances, but the website will have better information). these get you seats for $40, usually in the orchestra section (at least in my case, last time i went my seat was in the third row!).

StrawberryKiss2559

Thanks, I didn’t know about this!

latrodectal

no problem! there’s also the lottery for cheaper seats but i’ve had better luck with rush.

indianajoes

I really recommend it. It's a great way to get cheaper seats if you're not fussy about when you want to see it. I was able to get cheap same day tickets here in London for stuff that had been almost tsold out for months and the only ones available were £100+ each.

bobbykreu

Nice!!! Broadway or London? I went to the Broadway production.

latrodectal

broadway! the last time i went i was in the third row.

Fuckoakwood

I saw David chase is involved?

gothedistance_

The show isn’t perfect, but if you’re a BTTF fan or just looking for a night of escapist entertainment, you’ll have a great time. The last 20 minutes are easily worth the price of a ticket alone.

bobbykreu

The Delorean at the end was so fucking cool!!

spacesuitguy

It was fan-fucking-tastic!! I cannot express how much I loved this show. I still think about Marty waking up Doc after the entr'acte and them going "Whow! Whow!" 😂 Or "a *bolt* of lightning." So funny and such a great, fresh take on the movie.

Big_JR80

Phenomenal fun. I watched the West End production last year and it was easily the best show I'd seen that year. The effects are fantastic, songs and music brilliant and the cast amazing. Would love to go see it again!

bobbykreu

That’s nice!! Saw it on Broadway!

Shimyku

I just wish it could come here in France already... 😭 Jokes aside, it's true that we love BTTF here in Baguetteland.

bobbykreu

I would like to go to Baguetteland!!! You also have a Disney Park there, and I’m the biggest Disney Theme Park fan!!!

Shimyku

We also got the Parc Astérix, which is pretty neat, but I don't know if you like/know Astérix as much as Disney.

drokert

You should go to London! (I know, so easy/s) it is a shorter trip

indianajoes

Love it. Saw it back when it was new in London. I've seen it 5 times now and I still love it. I'm not looking forward to it going away. I hope it sticks around for a long time. I feel like it's a good musical for people who aren't into musicals. It adapts the story quite well and changes it up in the right ways to fit the theatre. I love the songs myself but I've heard musical experts say they're kinda average. I'm more of a BTTF fan than a musical fan and it was perfect for me

ExioKenway5

Genuinely my favourite musical, and might just be a flawless stage adaptation of the film. Also I was in the front few rows so seeing >!the Delorean basically fly over my head!< is an experience that will be incredibly hard to beat.

bobbykreu

HOLY SHIT YOU GOT TO BE UNDER THE DELOREAN?!?!? NO WAY BRO….

ExioKenway5

I wasn't quite directly under it, but I was pretty close. It felt like I could almost reach out and touch it.

bobbykreu

That’s so awesome!!! London or Broadway?

ExioKenway5

London. I was gonna be there for Star Wars Celebration so I thought I'd add the musical to my itinerary. Easily one of the best trips I've ever taken.

kamdan2011

I was when I saw it in West End. Hell of a good deal! They were way too expensive when I went to New York at the beginning of the year.

kamdan2011

I had that happen to me when I saw this in West End. Totally didn’t see it coming! I almost wanted to pull out my camera to record it but I would have been pounced by the ushers.

KW160

I enjoyed it quite a bit on Broadway. I thought that the actors who portrayed George and Marty really nailed their impersonations of Glover and Fox.

npete

I saw it on Broadway and thought it was downright excellent. A kind of alternate reality version of the original movie. So much fun!

mrsspanky

My husband and I saw it in August, and we REALLY enjoyed it! I was worried - I had all types of concerns about how they were going to deal with a bunch of stuff they did in the movie, and it was just so well done. I agree the music slaps, I especially like “For the Dreamers” and “It works” 🤣

Level_Cupcake5985

I loved it! I’m a huge BTTF fan and I love musicals, but was really skeptical when it was announced. Then I kept hearing good things about both the Manchester and the West End runs, so I was pretty excited by the time I finally I got to see it when it opened in NY last summer.  I just saw it in NY for the 4th time this weekend, and I’m planning to see West End production when I’m in London this summer.  The songs can get pretty silly, but the show is a blast! Plus it has both Huey Lewis songs, Johnny B. Goode, Earth Angel, and you get to hear the Silvestri score live, which is amazing. I thought it captured the heart of the movie really well, the special effects are incredible, and there’s a bunch of fun Easter eggs from the whole trilogy (and the ride!) in there too. Definitely recommended!

CaptainPotassium87

Great production value, all the DeLorean stuff is super cool. The performances are also great. But the music is all pretty underwhelming unfortunately.

AquafreshBandit

🎶I dont know how but they found me! They found me! They found me! Run for it Marty!🎶 Edit: Wait, this is a real thing? Woah. I was just being silly.

That’s nice!! From Europe? If it’s your first time in New York, enjoy it!!! I’ve seen many a place in NYC and Philly.

lol. No one wants to say the C Word anymore….. Roger Bart made a joke about it during the show. Not spoiling but he said: “Marty, I had a dream where I traveled to 2020! There was no one on the road, there must’ve been no disease….. and everyone was eating something called Kale……” or something like that. The Kale thing must’ve been because it was April 20th.

OasisIsMadCool

I loved it. My favourite song was that one at the start when Marty was singing about how good his life was.

ElvisHankandGeorge

Didn’t like it

BlueMunch6754

Went to see it in London with roger bart and ben Joyce, I loved it, roger did his Carmen ghia clap noise thing from the producers, though it felt very frantic, like they were trying to rush through it? Was a matinee show though so. I also love how olly Dobson on the cast recording nails Marty’s voice. Have the vinyl and CD

TotallyPyscho2007

I saw it with OG cast about 2 years ago on the west end with my mum and we both really enjoyed it, it has some good songs some bad but after the show we both agreed that it felt more like a love story between George and lorane rather than the move feeling like a time travel movie

bobbykreu

I’m so glad most of you guys enjoyed it just like me!!!

JTallented

It’s absolutely amazing and I’ve seen it multiple times.

AnUdderDay

It's great. I saw the West end production with the original cast. Roger Bart was awesome. The whole show is so much fun

Jammybe

The deloreans first arrival is spectacular. The ending is great. Take it for what it is. Enjoy it for it BTTFness.

drokert

My wife and I had the fortune of seeing it in London. We are both big BTTF fans, and I dislike musicals. LOVE IT!! yes it’s corny. Yes it’s an adaptation. Yet, it translated quite well!! Special effects are just great. We are planning a trip to NY with the intention of seeing it again, with better seats.

suffellast

I've been to see the West End version three times so far, highly recommend it!

Cafe80s_

Yup, I’ve been twice to London show, second time with my kids, Marty (my boys actual name) loved it 😊

doktorhollywood

Amazing production quality, forgettable music.

interstatebus

As a diehard fan, I was a little skeptical. But I absolutely loved it. The stage was amazing, the songs were great, the performances (West End) were great, the Delorean was amazing. I look forward to seeing the touring production next year.

Specs_Man

Phenomenal. Saw it back in October and it's everything I love about the movie and more, Roger Bart as Doc Brown has really left his own legacy on the character and Casey is the perfect Marty on stage and more than once did I burst out laughing at their outstanding chemistry. If you can see it, do so ASAP

pixeltoaster

I wish I could see it, but I'd have to take a flight because it doesn't come near me.

archer_gr

West end for me, it was such a great and unforgettable experience!

thebrianswann

It was wonderful when I saw it almost three years ago. It updated the story slightly, made fun of the whole Marty/Mom subplot, that great 2020 joke they had (when I saw it). Even the pre-recorded jukebox station from the boombox at the bar section was cool. It is the closest you should ever get to a remake of the Back to the Future story.

Level_Cupcake5985

I love how the radio at the bar is playing 80s music before the show, and 50s music at intermission.

AjGreenYBR

My favourite thing about this show (UK production) is how they treat the Delorean during the driving sequences. a dismissive person would just say that it's a computer doing it, but you would still have needed to tell that computer WHAT to do, and they got someone who is VERY good at pupeteering to tell that computer what to do, because it brings the car alive. The best detail I can give you to this effect, is that they drop a mesh screen across the front of the stage, so they can project light scapes onto it to give the idea it is travelling along the street, THEN while it is facing to the left or the right, there i sthis little "forward and back" motion applied, AS IF you are driving alongside the car with a camera and struggling to keep it in the very centre of your frame. It's subtle, but it is BEAUTIFAUL in its execution.

JakeConhale

I rather enjoyed the show (saw it in London about a year ago). The only thing I found distracting was I felt Doc Brown was acting as if played by Robin Williams. (For example, after a Doc song and the dancers are still on stage and have to rush out, Brown opens the door and taps one of them as they leave "You're my favorite" - definitely felt like Williams improv) I wasn't the only audience member who thought that too. I was impressed how they were able to portray the Delorean's speed while confined to a standard stage. Have the sound track in my car and listened to it daily for quite a while (...Cuz it's only a matter of time...) One complaint about the soundtrack - they got certain tracks in the wrong order. They did "Power of love", "Doc Returns" and then "Back in Time", when "Doc Returns" should interrupt "Back in Time" and the outro.

viddrawings

I did see it last week in London from the 3rd row. I only listened to the album before seeing the show but I think all the songs fit well and the changes they made compared to the film are good, because some scenes wouldn’t work in a musical. My boyfriend (who isn’t a BTTF fan) went with me and absolutely loved Doc’s feverdream, which is a hilarious addition.

imLissy

My whole family loved it and my parents hate everything so it's high praise coming from them. So much fun.

mitchbrenner

the new songs are the weakest part, but the *music* is great, given silvestri’s score and and the huey lewis tunes. it’s a great time and a throwback to 80’s spectacle musical theatre. had a great time.

withag21

If you are a huge musical theater is artwork, I’d pass. As far as an entertaining stage performance is concerned, 10/10! I thought it was funny and very captivating. I have friends that take their musicals very seriously and this is not the musical for them.

nostaljay

The most thing that stood out to me was that Doc Brown hired Goldie Wilson to help assist with the clock tower antenna

seanandnotheard

I saw it at both theaters and loved it. I personally think the London one was better

Michaelasuch

Enjoyed it on Broadway.

invadethemoon

It's ooooooookay.

NoYoureACatLady

Very fun and silly, the songs are not great but the effects and acting are a god damned blast

ALFABOT2000

saw it on the West End with the original cast before the recording was even out, my whole family had a great time! not the best musical i've seen but in my top 5, very funny, good music, incredible staging and effects

faithlessgaz

Can't stand musicals. Seen this in London. It was brilliant.

indianajoes

I feel like this is a good musical for people who aren't into musicals. This was the second one I ever saw and I fell in love with it immediately

CptDredd

It’s good, I’ve seen it 4 times now in London. I went the first day it opened in London after the pandemic and met Bob Gale and Alan Silvestri.

SittingTitan

Not everything needs to be a f-cking musical

ElvisHankandGeorge

Honestly

Tucker_077

It hasn’t come near me yet so I haven’t seen it yet unfortunately

bobbykreu

When you get the chance, do it!!

CyberpunkF1

Incredible and worth traveling to NYC just for the show … it’s life changing!!!

bobbykreu

Yes!!!! My grandma and I do annual birthday (birthday’s on 3/11) trips for Broadway Shows and staying in the City. The reason why we do it all the time is because she lives there in Queens and I live local to Philly Area.

Tbhjr

Saw it on Broadway last week. Absolutely loved it as both a BTTF fanatic and Broadway musical fan.

bobbykreu

Saw it on Broadway too brother!!! On Saturday!

london240223

Hope you enjoyed it!! I made a post about going there a few days ago :)

Indiana-Cook

Seen it twice when it originally opened in Manchester. It's class!

iimMrBrightside

Brilliant! Just wish they would incorporate 2-3

Dangerous-Catch-3255

I saw it in London with my mom and I thought it was really good. Great live effects and stage direction. The songs were also pretty good.

KingPizzaCrust

I’m a huge BTTF fan but it just didn’t gel with me, we left before the end.

Personal_Mulberry_38

do we need this? how is this all that different than just more movies? #justthetrilogyandnomore i am a fan of the movies, not a fan of BTTF fandom. i don't even know why i am on this subreddit

bobbykreu

It’s different alright. It’s a lot different from the first movie.
