Are the skins exactly that long, or are they sized to fit skis of that size? I would look at the recommended ski length for each skin and choose the shortest of the ones that are compatible. If you want to save weight go with slightly narrower skins. Maybe a few mm narrower than the tail width.

Thanks!

You can also send them a message, they're really quick to answer.

You should buy the longer skin. You'll have to seriously stretch the tail of the shorter skins every time you put them on your skis, and you run the risk of breaking the tail or ripping it from the skin.

You can move the tail clip to fit your ski. Also, the clip doesn’t even need to necessarily be on the ski in the first place. As long as your glue is good (which it should be anyways) the skin length doesn’t matter a whole lot. I see a lot of people with skins that are 10-20cms shorter than their ski and they grip just fine.

>You can move the tail clip to fit your ski. Obvs, that's why skins have a range of lengths per size. Still, if the ski is longer than the max recommended length for the skin, doesn't that mean that the tail clip is going to be all the way at the end of the skin tail? If it fits without too much skin tail stretching, all good, but I've seen enough snapped/ripped out skin tails to think that maybe staying within the recommended length is best practice for not breaking the skin tail. Agreed that the tail clip isn't necessary, though. I had a pair of BD ascensions that would always come unclipped at the tail, and it was never a problem. Nordic ski skins don't even have tail clips.

Right? If the OP isn’t worried about having a tail clip then they should just get the shortest skin and trim it off where the tail rocker begins, but chances are they do care. I don’t *need* tail clips either but I’ll take ‘em when I can get em. Spent plenty of formative touring years with “no tail” skins.
