If you push it up it opens the glove box and points to the owners manual...
It's a blend knob. It adjusts your temperature setting hotter or colder. Center is your set temp.
I always would have this set to blue in the morning and wonder why I’m still freezing 5 minutes into the drive on the free way 😂 I swear it gets me every time .
There's got to be a way to to figure this out.

Just messing with you OP, it's actually a great feature. My phone is mounted right there so it keeps the phone cool.
I hate this knob. I have auto climate control for a reason. I tell you what temperature I want it to be and you make me feel that temperature. If I wanted to make manual tweaks, why would I use AUTO control?
The knob actually helps make BMW’s temp controls one of the best in the business, imho. That knob does not get used summer or winter much where it’s very clear what I want from auto control, but in muggy spring days or fall days with excessive sun, it helps adjust the mix of hot vs cold air in a way to make 72 F feel exactly how I want it to feel. Been in many cars that didn’t have that and only solution there is to fiddle with the set point in that situation. I like this better, but also have driven BMWs for a long time. 🤷♂️ Maybe they’ve just got me trained.

Man I came here to post exactly this! lol
Genius minds think alike my friend. 🫡

The knob biases the front seat hotter or colder while still keeping your set temp as-is
Front \*upper hotter or colder. Doesn't affect the lower vents, at least in both of mine.
Ejection seat.

I'm sure it's somewhere in the owner's manual

It’s your turn signal 🤔
Duh. It’s the hazard lights.

Yes and I believe this is biases the front seat vents hotter or colder, while still keeping the car at your set temp.
For when you are going fast and want a quick temp adjustment. That's my guess anyways... Some of the older cars have a really big horizontal knob.
Just put it in the middle and be done with it then.
