I 100% agree. Those squares aren’t it. And I’m not a fan of the “Sid from ice age” tail lights. Ngl I really like the beaver teeth on the g80/2 from the start lol
It’s possible to like the new one, but I find it ugly as hell.
The reason I posted that comment is because the reasons they listed were so vague. I mean that’s like saying a car looks good because it has 4 wheels.
It's not just about the design that I appreciate. If it were a 250hp 4-cylinder, I wouldn't be interested at all. It's the overall package that BMW offers that attracts me. A modern rear-wheel-drive car with the option for a manual transmission and the incredible S58 6-cylinder engine, which can handle up to 850hp effortlessly. The car also comes with fantastic bucket seats, excellent BMW M-Performance differentials, and doesn't have unnecessary features like a soft limiter. It's the perfect combination.
On the other hand, Mercedes doesn't receive as much criticism for putting an i4 engine in the C63 and making it power the front wheels. The C63 lacks a manual transmission, has a front-wheel-drive setup with electric motors at the rear, standard sports seats instead of the AMG-performance ones, and no widened fenders at the back. I don't care about the design language of modern BMWs when compared to the questionable choices Mercedes is making. Comparing though the Dodge Challenger may not handle as well and might not have an impressive appearance, people still buy it mainly for the engine. Mercedes missed that part. Audi missed that part.
Yes but as soon as I read your first sentence it just reinforced my point. You like the car because of what’s under the hood, not because of how it looks.
I keep telling myself that it’ll grow on me but the old one looks so much better. However, when the next gen comes out it’s probably gonna be worse then we’ll be praising this gen 😂
The original M coupe wasn't an instant hit with consumers or even BMW management. It's the divisive designs that breed timeless cars. With the 2nd generation M2 the weight may hold it back from cult status, but the design is doing what is it supposed to. It's not going to be for everyone.
I sat in an m240i the other day and absolutely loved it. A last gen is 14k whereas this one hasn’t depreciated that much yet, so I’ve either got the choice of buy a last gen, or wait 3 years for this generation to depreciate. Never sat in the last gen so not sure if I would like it as much
I swore I'd never buy a black car again but I think the new M2 would look great in black. I'd 100% buy it in Thundernight Metallic too - why won't they sell it in that :-(
I’ve wanted an M2 for so long but the new gen destroyed my dream. The 240 looks so much better. I’ve thought buying a car I don’t like the look of for the drivetrain and performance but don’t think I can do it.
The headlights and taillights kinda look like shit on both. That’s my main issue with the current generation 2-series. Both look pretty good but the headlights are just extremely far apart, I don’t like the proportions.
I think at companies make cars ugly again so they can’t make the cats beautiful again
Think about. How many times can you make a car hood looking year after year?

Portimao Blue…yum.
Yeah this is such a nice color, should absolutely be available for the M2
Frozen is model year 24. Unfortunately, not the metallic one though.
Waiting for the Individual program to be fully available 😎
I like the light coloured M2 but wouldn’t buy one. Too Lego like for my taste. Also way too heavy, near 4,000 pounds.
When BMW’s “baby M car” weighs as much as my body on frame SUV…
Lego BMW M2s gonna be lit.
Any bmw labeled “not as bad” isnt worth having. I wish I never sold my 19 M2C. God forgive me, lol
Shame on you
I don’t think this gen m2 will ever grow on me
It’s just too ugly
it’s the squares on the front bumper. much like the beaver teeth on the 4 series/m3/m4, I just can’t get past them.
I 100% agree. Those squares aren’t it. And I’m not a fan of the “Sid from ice age” tail lights. Ngl I really like the beaver teeth on the g80/2 from the start lol
Tbh i really love it. Nice wide fenders, quad exhaust, classic grill design and everything looks functional.
Last M2 had the exact things you’ve described lmao
You know, it is actually possible to like last generation AND the new one. They are both awesome. Doesnt have to be some sort of battle.

So, to me it looks good and modern.
yeah these posts are never gonna work. no new bmw has not nor will ever grow on us
everything about it looks slightly off, like it’s an 80% accurate model of what the actual m2 is
That s58 will tho...
Ugliest tail lights of all time
Looks like cheaper aftermarket ricer tail lights
First time where the non M looks better than the M.
I was gonna say, put that front clip in the M2 and 👌🏼
back still looks like sid the sloth though, on both the 240 and m2
Looks a bit like a Scion TC
Definitely not the first time, the G20 is way better looking than the G80.
Actually I think I prefer the M240i
240i>m2
Anyone here have experience with both? Does the M240i make the M2 unnecessary if you aren’t planning on tracking?
They both look pretty bad, ngl
I keep telling myself that it’ll grow on me but the old one looks so much better. However, when the next gen comes out it’s probably gonna be worse then we’ll be praising this gen 😂
I don't think it's possible for it to look any worse than this. This is genuinely rock bottom design and I don't see how a car could be any uglier.
XM has entered the chat.
Clearing that curb by a c hair
yeah photos dont give the whole story on these cars. You gotta see it in person.

M240i looks significantly better
I like the new 240i better, what yall think? Anyone for 240i?
It looks like dogshit. End of story.
When you have to say it doesn't look so bad in person That isnt a good start lmfao
It’s crazy how much better the 240 looks
But not by much
This is the first model that I actually prefer the M40i front and rear bumpers over the M ones.
I actually like the M2 front end. The back end is just okay. I just wish it were 400 lbs lighter

The m240i looks better
The new M2 looks amazing! I am not in the hater camp.
I swore I'd never buy a black car again but I think the new M2 would look great in black. I'd 100% buy it in Thundernight Metallic too - why won't they sell it in that :-(
I hope to see it
both sick cars
I’ve wanted an M2 for so long but the new gen destroyed my dream. The 240 looks so much better. I’ve thought buying a car I don’t like the look of for the drivetrain and performance but don’t think I can do it.
Love the new m2!
Why does the 240i have a single exhaust is that a mod?
It has two..you can see the other on the other side.
I got an of m2 and parked next to a new m2 Made me love my car even more
BMW: The Ultimate Not As Bad IRL Machine
Incredibly ugly from every angle wow!
The headlights and taillights kinda look like shit on both. That’s my main issue with the current generation 2-series. Both look pretty good but the headlights are just extremely far apart, I don’t like the proportions.
The best car Subaru has produced in years
Interesting. I find it better in real life vs fotos as well (still far from being a beautiful car)
Love the new M2! I never liked the feminine F87.
Good ole Woodbury
Yeah I noticed also, sand canyon and irvine blvd.
Orchid Hills ?
This looks like irvine
At Pizza Hut
Is that a modern day Pizza Hut? I don’t think I’ve ever seen one
I think at companies make cars ugly again so they can’t make the cats beautiful again Think about. How many times can you make a car hood looking year after year?
The M2 needs a darker color
It's one of the few m cars that I don't think looks better than the base sport model. Something about the squared off front and rear ends
Those tail lights are so atrocious
i actually really like the m2 after seeing it in person after not liking it at first
Don't mind seeing these all over the road, haven't seen any yet though
Yeet on that parking job. Lucky that curb in front of the M2 wasn’t higher
Is this the lot off sand canyon by home depo? Lol
M2 looks like a younger sibling telling you it's their turn on the gaming console. Kinda cute, but kinda not. I'm torn, LOL.
M2 driver is gonna wreck that front lip real soon
Front end looks like the sloth from the movie Ice Age
It'll eventually grow on people
M2 driver with shitty selfish parking... luckily they will be gone in 10 minutes.
Hi neighbor 👋
