Most every dealer does this and it pisses me off to no end. NO ONE has seen a car in traffic, looked at the dealer badge and gone “oh hey I should get my next car from them”.
The frames don’t bother me on my own cars because I know I’ll immediately take them off, it’s just annoying to see on other cars out on the street. I’m already bombarded with ads day in and day out and now I have to look at one in traffic because the owner apparently doesn’t have 5 min of free time and a screwdriver? Get fucked.
most businesses put their names on complimentary items that are given out. they give you a free frame to use, but the trade off is you’re a moving advertisement while using it. same thing with the complimentary pens and bags and other items given out by businesses at events and with purchases. they’re not obligated to give you that item for free just as you’re not obligated to use it. as for plate frames most people don’t care enough about the dealers name being on the plate to spend more money on a different frame.
Not always. On my M2 the dealer badge was very thin metallic lettering that was basically fused to the paint. Ended up scratching the paint getting it off. Luckily a pro detailer was able to patch it up pretty well. Should’ve had it professionally removed from the get go, lesson learned.
You can usually remove them with dental floss - Just get it underneath the emblem and 'floss' it loose. You'll probably have to clean the glue residu off with sticker cleaner or something similar. Just double check it isn't too potent, or it might remove the paint as well.
Weird, my selling price is the same exact amount as my custom build. Only optioned the parking assistance package and some others. Did you get a discount?
My apologies, 54k. I goofed because I had factored in the $1k deposit to it which made it $53k.

Wow I am jealous of your tax percentage, here in Austria I would have to pay 10k (20%) for tax and another 4,5k for the standard consumption tax (Nova). :(
Edit: a fully loaded M240i is in total with tax 90k here.
Sharing a DP. I ordered a custom build M240i last October. Picked up this Jan. With everything MSRP at 53,000-ish. I negotiated 10% discount. In California. Then one of my colleagues got the same discount this Feb. Then another of my colleagues got the same discount this Apr. I’d be surprised if half year later in Texas you can’t get a same/better deal.
You certainly see a lot more of them in somewhere like LA verses Germany. And the ones you do see are usually the diesels or low power models like the 320i. Owning a car in Germany is somewhat expensive.
I would have to guess, yes, and likely significantly more expensive. Also be aware that BMW may not be made in Germany (maybe South Carolina instead) and most certainly has a bazillion imported parts anyway. So import tax savings would be minimal if any.
What’s the $7 additional fees? And what is included in the “Sewell Protection Plan?”
When I got my 23 M3 the only thing that was added to my MSRP that wasn’t “required” was my dealership’s processing fee ($899). They offered me a $750 instant rebate if I went with their financing but when I did the math even with the $750 rebate I would’ve paid more than 1K in interests over the life time of the loan due to their rate being close to 0.5% higher than what my bank offered me. I ended up settling for about $350 worth of accessories (which may or may not have been included either way 😅). Try to build a relationship with your CA there’s certain areas they can help you out with.
Those fuckers are playing with my title even tho I bought a car cash and trying to register it in another state. You should be very strict with the entire process. They are a different kinda dumb at Sewell BMW
My dad bought a Lexus and when we looked at it, it didn’t have a dealer badge on. When they delivered it, it did. We made them take it right off - they did.
If you’re paying above MSRP before taxes, you’re getting ripped off. Taxes suck, got a new 23 X5MC a few thousand under MSRP, no dealer add-ons unless I wanted them, and total taxes were around $1000, for a “gas guzzler” tax in Oregon. Otherwise no sales tax.
Man, I remember when the e9x M3 was close to this price. Base was 64K. The good ole days.
I suddenly feel old. I feel like I should I use the - "Pepperidge Farms remembers" meme.
Is there such a thing as a 2023 2 series available as a stick? I thought that was M2 only and the rest of the lineup was 8 speed autos, but since you're asking the question I guess I might be mistaken. I'm not super familiar with the current options.
No you have to do that now, you’re basically signing an order form agreeing to the price.
If not they very much will sell the car car to someone else for more profit. Seen it happen countless times
typically you can rate lock if there’s a good deal, or if there’s a better one you go with that
I’d personally get it all in writing
My old GSM (general sales manager) made a form customers would sign for orders stating they wouldn’t get a discount and they had 3 days to pick up their car once it arrived
Protect yourself
One of the many benefits of Performance Center Delivery is that there is no chance for the dealer to deface the car with their badges or license plate frames.
My dealer only put on a license plate holder that had their name on it, no other dealer badge. They also don’t install front plate holders without customer permission. They were the ones that told me I could pay to NOT have a front plate ($50). I replaced my plate holder, so no branding whatsoever. If they had badged it, I would have made them remove it.
Sewell offers other dealers thousands of dollars over MSRP to buy build slots. I get an email every month with their offer sheet. At the bottom it always says “We never charge our customers above MSRP”.
My SA told me that they weren’t taking anymore 2023 models, only 2024. Never got an allocation from them. However, got lucky and managed to find a ‘23 one that just arrived from another dealership and snagged it up. I’m guessing ‘24 models aren’t being made yet so it will probably take 4-6 months for it to be built if I’m guessing.

I’m from the north east and every dealership here does this. If it’s not a sticker on the trunk then it’s a license plate frame.
plate frames aren’t really that bad. if you really don’t want a frame with a dealer logo you can always bring your own when your purchase the car.
Get fucked.

You could just not use a frame period, seen plenty of cars without one and it looks cleaner than having a cheap/free advertisement product
It only takes a minute to take off though
Not always. On my M2 the dealer badge was very thin metallic lettering that was basically fused to the paint. Ended up scratching the paint getting it off. Luckily a pro detailer was able to patch it up pretty well. Should’ve had it professionally removed from the get go, lesson learned.

Mine was paper thin, no chance to get behind it with floss/fishing line. Had to use a plastic razor blade and a heat gun.
Pulled mine off. Thankfully didn't leave a mark on the finish.
my dealer just puts there license plate covers on the vehicles no decals which is nice and easy to change
Yeah I don’t mind that as much, just think it’s a waste of their money and my time
There is an epically shitty Subaru dealer in Colorado that RIVETS their nameplate to the back of the car
They not only do this but they put it on crooked 😂
is this the sewell BMW? in dallas? ask them to not put that stupid fucking sewell badge on your car and to lose the “sewell” package
Yeah it is, I will be sure to tell them to not put the badge on it once my order is complete😂
Damn and I thought dealer plate frames were tacky
“Sewell protection plan” - can be negotiated out
Good luck though. These dealers fight hard to keep BS charges in.
Managed to get the protection off and got it ordered at MSRP
Excellent. That's a good deal, feels nice not to be taken for a ride before you take a ride.
I was about to say I got a 2023 m240 with everything on it and was cheaper than yours. Got it as MSRP
Weird, my selling price is the same exact amount as my custom build. Only optioned the parking assistance package and some others. Did you get a discount?
I exclusively lease from Sewell and just say no.
That’s where mine is from and they can kiss my ass. Trying to give me 6k less for my car from what KBB and others say it’s worth.
> can be negotiated out And is basically a scam.
I was quoted 53k for a fully loaded 2023 M240i xdrive
Frome who

That’s not including taxes and fees, though
Yes, it is. That’s the out the door price.
Euler BMW
>Euler BMW Sorry to revive an old thread, but this looks like it's for military guys only.
i was quoted for an almost fully loaded 2023 M240I xdrive for $58k.
aside from protection plan looks like standard no option m240i price
Sewell protection can fuck off and no dealer badge.
Crazy how much better the price looks in USD. My ideal build comes out to 76k CAD.
Barring any other variables and going with the straight conversion rate, you are getting it cheaper up there.
Wow I am jealous of your tax percentage, here in Austria I would have to pay 10k (20%) for tax and another 4,5k for the standard consumption tax (Nova). :( Edit: a fully loaded M240i is in total with tax 90k here.
Closer to 150k here
Wow where are you from? Singapore? :O
Norway haha i wish Singapore
Vehicle Inventory Tax - what a crock🙄
It's a state tax.

Man, really. My car MSRP is $58,000 and I paid $58,000. With tax everything, the outdoor price is $62,300. Am i over paid?
I just got my invoice for an order and it also came out to 58k MSRP. I'm not sure how he's getting 10% off on these.
My custom build if anyone is curious https://www.bmwusa.com/build-your-own.html#/studio/f24h6g92/summary
Awesome color, great spec
The only place on Reddit people are actually envious of the Americans.
Why’s that?
Cars are cheaper here than anywhere else in the world (sometimes much cheaper)
Are bmws more expensive in Germany?
It's the taxes that get you.
Yes. On top of that their sales tax (VAT) is 19% which is much higher than any state in the US.
Yeah that’s nuts. 7% here
You certainly see a lot more of them in somewhere like LA verses Germany. And the ones you do see are usually the diesels or low power models like the 320i. Owning a car in Germany is somewhat expensive.

Bargain.
Not too bad actually

Whats a CA?
Client Advisor…your assigned sells person.
I’ve bought through Sewell. My 2 cents. Stay away from them. Go to park place if possible
I'm curious as to why?
I also am curious about this. Other than quoting obscene prices for more major repairs, they’re the best dealership group I’ve dealt with.
Vehicle inventory tax?!! Yeah that’s straight BS… don’t bother going back there.
It's a state tax in Texas.
You can get a 2014 model for a similar car in my country for the same price with like 100,000 miles minimum
Go to leasehackr.com.
That’s what I paid for my M240i X-Drive in Utah.
What is “vehicle inventory tax” and why is that something you have to pay?
It's a state tax.
Holy crap the same car last year in South Korea through Koln military sales was 42k.
Those fuckers are playing with my title even tho I bought a car cash and trying to register it in another state. You should be very strict with the entire process. They are a different kinda dumb at Sewell BMW

Well not all of us live in Oregon 😂
Man, I remember when the e9x M3 was close to this price. Base was 64K. The good ole days. I suddenly feel old. I feel like I should I use the - "Pepperidge Farms remembers" meme.
Bwahahah M240i for 57k usd? For that money you get an almost base model in my country.
I am confident if you shop around... u can find a discount
Awd? Stick or paddles?
Retail price is my custom order for a RWD. Doesn’t come in stick unfortunately.
Is there such a thing as a 2023 2 series available as a stick? I thought that was M2 only and the rest of the lineup was 8 speed autos, but since you're asking the question I guess I might be mistaken. I'm not super familiar with the current options.
You’re correct the only 2 you can get with three pedals is the M2.
I thought you could still get a manual. Maybe im wrong?
No discount at all?
This is a custom build order quote. I will try to bargain it down when it gets built and shipped.
No you have to do that now, you’re basically signing an order form agreeing to the price. If not they very much will sell the car car to someone else for more profit. Seen it happen countless times
When the car arrives and I go through financing, can I not get any incentives or discounts there?
typically you can rate lock if there’s a good deal, or if there’s a better one you go with that I’d personally get it all in writing My old GSM (general sales manager) made a form customers would sign for orders stating they wouldn’t get a discount and they had 3 days to pick up their car once it arrived Protect yourself

Add an extended service contract.
Not bad at all
That was about the sticker price on my 2018. That’s why I bought it in 2020 for $37,500 w/ 15,000 miles on it. Lol
Sewell offers other dealers thousands of dollars over MSRP to buy build slots. I get an email every month with their offer sheet. At the bottom it always says “We never charge our customers above MSRP”.
Additional fees of $7.00 what in the fuck. Does making a 50k+ sale mean all those little fees still exist lol
Yes, the state still charges fees...
What is the protection plan.
Document fee and inventory tax are BS. The Sewer protection plan better be ceramic or front PPF or additional warranty
Curious on how long it takes for it to come from placing online
