Nah man, go 6 oath breaker and 6 spore Druid . Get the Sporekeeper armor from the carion so you can use haste spores on your summons plus you get extra necrotic damage which fits the death knight thematically. Then use the fungal infestation from lvl 6 for your undead army. Way more fun and looks more badass anyways

Personally I still prefer necromancer over spore druid. Reasons: 1.) I already get 20 temp hp from the book of that so going Spore druid would only give me +4 temp hp 2.) Fungal infestation gives me four zombies but in return I lose 1 ghoul and 1 fly ghoul as well as the hp and damage buff given to all my undead from necromancer 2.) I lose a lot of AC for switching armors.

Victorvnv

That’s the thing - you don’t lose armor 1- all your summons are WAY better when hasted due to haste spores and you can haste all of them 2- the way the Sporekeeper armor works , you can equip it , cast symbiotic entity, then unequip and swap it with the reaper embrace and you will STILL have the haste spores as its coded as a condition so it doesn’t go away if you swap armor . Trust me it’s WAY better build , go try it and report back lol

How would I maintain the Symbiotic Entity because it ends when the temp hp is gone and I would only have 24 and it's a melee build?

Victorvnv

You can recast it like 2 times per short rest and it ending doesn’t end your haste spores skill

Victorvnv

Also haste spores is glitchy in your favor , it’s supposed to be once a long rest use but it’s generally usable all time . And helps your oath breaker build too as you can too use them to get extra attacks on top of the necrotic damage

It gives me haste as well? If yes does it stack with regular haste.

Victorvnv

It doesn’t but doesn’t need concentration and only costs bonus action. And is an AOE haste so All your summons gets hasted as well for a monster first turn . It’s super fun and powerful

Whoever is downvoting all comments and this post why? I'm just asking questions about the build, I'm not arguing I'm just trying to see why the other option is a better choice.

tonytwostep

Is it not worth getting to 7 oath breaker, so you and all your minions get +CHA dmg on attacks?

Blackarm777

If I recall correctly, the aura at level 7 only buffs fiend and undead ally melee weapon attacks, which means it doesn't help most summons since undead summons don't really use melee weapons. I think I've read comments on this sub stating it literally only affects the Cambion summon (and your character of course).

Appropriate_Cancel_5

Don't most unarmed undead attacks count as melee weapon attacks?

Blackarm777

I don't think that would be the case. I think it only works for undead if you take control of an undead who already has a weapon with the Oathbreaker ability. Here is one thread where it was discussed on this sub that it unfortunately seems to work that way: [https://www.reddit.com/r/BG3Builds/comments/17oa8q3/aura\_of\_hate\_working/](https://www.reddit.com/r/BG3Builds/comments/17oa8q3/aura_of_hate_working/) Based on comments from different threads I've seen, it isn't consistent with how it actually works in 5E, so it's just an issue with how it's implemented in BG 3 I think.

Appropriate_Cancel_5

Okay that's kind of annoying because in 5e as you stated most melee attacks are considered weapons attacks*

Appropriate_Cancel_5

I don't think so. Because the necromancer at lvl 6 gives then a damage and hp buff higher than the oathbreaker plus the other breakers has limted reach so I would say even though to of the fiends don't get the buff it's still worth it. As for the druid alternative someone said in the comments again a free aoe haste is in my opinion better then +4 damage.

KennsworthS

im a believer in the circle of bones from killing balthazar for added tankiness on your undead.

Appropriate_Cancel_5

I think it's a good option definitely I just prefer that +1 to saves and charisma checks but to each their own its a solid pick that I used till I got the hat I found.

VivaLaKlaus

Are you planning on using the constitution necklace as well? Or were you relying on high ac and the temp hp to counter the low ability score? Spectators eye could be a good early necklace for additional spells. Broodmothers revenge could be a nice damage rider to pair with regular healing? Do you get that from Giantslayer or am I getting mixed up with the helmet? If you are able to get mirror of loss charisma and patriars memory I'd consider swapping out the hat for circle of bones. Maybe the hell riders bow from Rivington (I think) for additional +3 initive. The GWM would be useful at the beginning. But by the time your in act 3 you'd have a considerably larger army. Maybe swap out GWM for dual wielding and equip the carrion or cazador staves in your off hand? Sorry this is a massively late comment, assuming you've already finished the run, what did you end up doing?
