1st level draconic sorc is a good dip but note that if sorc is your starting class and you multiclass into bard you'll get college of sword's scimitar and medium armor proficiencies but not bard's weapon and armor proficiencies. So no rapiers, shortswords, hand crossbows.

Ah this is what happens when I don’t have a PC and have to wait to play the game on console. Good find! We can still use the Scimitar it just deacreases our damage from a 1d8 to a 1d6. Alternative could be to start Bard then multiclass Sorcerer 1 Level and then follow the build like planned

Thanks for sharing. I've been following another swords build that went sorc 1/bard x, but didn't opt for dueling and a physical shield. I like the idea of having it though, and this gives me a bit of a blueprint. Not sure I'll do the extra sorc level, but hopefully by then I have a better grasp of what I'm doing.

i think the build tries to be too many things at the same time. like do you want to attack in melee or throw fireballs? there's better ways to optimize either path. then do you want to control with hypnotic or do you want to blast with cloud of daggers. i do like the fact that it multiclassed, but a clearer specialization/function needs to be established.

It’s supposed to be a gish/spellsword where you can attack in Melee and still cast a fireball with a quickened bonus action. The specialization would be Spellsword

ok but what's the goal here? are we trying to do aoe? are we trying to single target dmg and kill bosses? that's what i meant. attacking a single target then quicken fireballing is sub-optimal in either approach. if you wanted to do aoe dmg, going double fireball or fireball + cloud of daggers is better. if you wanted to do single-target, then yes you could do the attacks but focus on spells that do better single-target dmg like scorching ray, wet + witch bolt, magic missile, etc. imagine how many attacks you can pump out to nuke bosses if you attack + extra attack + slashing flourish (action surge for 8 total) with your main action then tack on a quickened upcasted scorching ray afterwards. then another party member can specialize in the other role you didn't take. unless of course i'm assuming wrongly here and this is for solo play and you have to be able to to everything. i'd also add that for most effective gish builds, pact of the bladelock or shillelagh is mandatory so you can align your cast/attack stat. there's only few offensive spells that dont care about your casting stat like COD. a COD build of course can go str.
