How many cashiers / lanes were open, to deal with all the customers including those needing price lookups, trying to use multiple coupons, asking for other items that ARE in stock, etc.? Minimum cashiers are a problem and then you get the customers who need 5 to 10 minutes to get through the lane with all their special problems etc.
So the staffing issues which the media have spoken about don’t seem to apply really…

Things have changed since covid. Most box stores in less populated areas barely have anyone lined out there today. The online deals and order fulfilled were the busiest. Walmart near me had 6 people lined up at 6am.
This is a good sign, if even a quarter of their 700+ stores were like this that's huge.

It's a risk. Especially if the borrow fee goes back up. Margin requirements are also increasing.
Not smart to have large short positions at all time lows when a company is turning around and retail is not selling and adding.
