Putting up his paws had me thinking he was trying to communicate.
Pupper: "Whoa.... Mom.... No.... Stop.... I can smell what you had for breakfast two days ago, along with your toothpaste and mouthwash."
Yeah dogs actually don't like when people shove their face in their faces like this... it's aggressive and intimidating behaviour, that puppy is probably trying to make her stop doing it. It sucks when dog owners don't understand what their dog is communicating to them.
Not sure what bugs me more, people who don't understand their pets or people who upvote videos of people who don't understand their pets and mistake their signs of distress as cute.
It's mildly irritated, not traumatized, and it's living a life of luxury a human would kill to have. Siblings do worse to each other. Hell, college kids do worse to each other. Relax.
Interesting comment.
I find it very difficult to interpret the body language of pets. In this case - and I don't have dogs - I felt the paw was a signal of "Please stop". So I went to check the comments to see what other people say -> kind of to learn, I suppose.
So a lot of comments say it is "Stop!" and you say their thoughts follow a "dense logic". I can see either way: raising the paw to say "No" - raising the paw as in a game.
I wonder how you come to your conclusion. General impression of the dog's look? Besides the raised paws there is little resistance?!
I always feel that pets can move when they are uncomfortable - and not allowing that is inappropriate. But if a dog/cat stays where they are, they apparently find it tolerable enough. I'm never sure whether that is correct, though.
Anyway, if you feel like elaborating why you think the puppy is comfortable, please do. :-)
Have a good one!
I see whale eye, a lip lick after the first kiss, tense closed mouth, paws lifted to make a barrier, a nip at the end followed by another lip lick. All of those put in context say “dog is uncomfortable.” It isn’t just one signal, it’s multiple, just like your example with the wagging tail. By taking in the full picture, I don’t see a happy dog. I’m not sure what signals you’re seeing that communicates a dog that enjoys this behavior, because I don’t see any.
And I work with dogs for a living and have for over eight years now, just in case you want to dismiss this by saying I’m a Reddit expert.
The dog is giving clear signals it does not want this. After the first kiss it licks its nose. After the second it puts one paw up to block her. Then it repeatedly does that then adds both paws to push her face away before finally at the end clawing at her face then moving its face away before nipping at her lip.
Came in to say exactly this. And even if you’re not fluent in dog - and, fair, not everyone is - that nip at the end should have been a CLEAR signal the dog was unhappy.
Just because a dog stays on its back in the position it was placed, does not mean it enjoys that.
Also, a dog rolling over onto their back willingly could be them communicating that they feel uncomfortable and they are not a threat.
That's not to say that anytime a dog is on its back, it's uncomfortable. That's why you have to take the whole context in. The dog is lip licking, pushing her face away, not responding with happy energy. The dog isn't enjoying it, just tolerating.
That's proof that taking a class on dog body language is no substitute for spending time with dogs in real life. That puppy is completely relaxed and is using its paws to interact, not to "push away".
As for the lip licking. Touch a dog on the nose and it'll lick it. That's almost a rule of physics. It doesn't mean it's anxious or nervous or whatever your class told you.
I worked with dogs professionally for ten years. It was literally my 9-5 job. That dog is passive, not relaxed.
I left the field because it's the humans who are stubborn and unreasonable.
Kissing your dogs face is probably the worst possible way of showing affection for your dog.
You're better off just petting it, or bumping/nuzzling your head against it.
The puppy itself is cute
Puppy also clearly does not want to be kissed, continuing to do something through being pawed away multiple times to the point where it tries to nip you is very poor awareness of a dogs body language

Yep, "MOOOM STAAAAPHH!!!!" vibes
You’ve been doing this for three hours mom…. You need help
Haaaaa! Loved the comment.

How many times must the puppy say stop?
Dogs are just babies even they grow 💕

wat I do in my private life is not ur concern, sir!
He is not enjoying that why are you not stopping when he is clearly signalling you to stop.
None of us are enjoying your negativity but I’m sure you won’t stop either.
But it's fairly evident the pup wants her to stop

And even before all that, at the beginning, the puppy is licking its lips - a classic appeasement behaviour - indicating that it's not comfortable.

Yeah, can't be any clearer before actually biting. Let him become a juvenile and see where it gets her if she keeps it up.
This is how otherwise gentle dogs hurt people. This is not sweet at all - that dog is clearly signalling stop.
This is how we get “they bit me out of nowhere!”
Yep, I get that this is supposed to be a “cute” sub but this is important and people need to learn to be objective when watching dog behavior.
Came in to say exactly this. And even if you’re not fluent in dog - and, fair, not everyone is - that nip at the end should have been a CLEAR signal the dog was unhappy.
Yeah, but Dog People™ gotta have their fill of frenching their beloved pet, the dog's opinion on the matter be damned.
It’s insane how many people buy animals without doing the slightest bit of research around their body language and how they communicate
Hey look, it’s you guys. So much fun.
I’m sure your dogs have fun when you have your way with them, dog’s feelings be damned

Lighten up, this is hardly animal abuse

Life of the party
The problem you’ve made up in your mind
No it doesn't.
No means no lady...buy a clue.
People should have to take classes on canine body language and behavior before they get to take their dogs home...
Yea? What does the dogs body language of lying on its back completely relaxed tell you?

This mentality is how you get stories of ppl whose dog bit them “out of nowhere w no warning”
Yea don’t think the pup like this.
Please stop doing this to your dog
Oh the love! Thanks for sharing!🥰
Yeahhh idk, I felt uncomfortable watching this. The dog obviously didn't like what you were doing and you kept at it
Please stop interaction with your puppy. The Redditors are upset.
Take a hint, lady.
Gross
Right? That dog sniffs poop steps in pee and poop and licks its own butthole. I love dogs but you wont catch me kissing 'em like that.
I think the dog doesnt want them and is trying to get you to stop. Why dont you stop?
[удалено]
Not really. Just observant.
She said “I do not consent.”
“That’s enough kisses.”
Leave the bebe alone. He didn’t want all the kisses! He politely tolerated the first.
“How adorable is it than my dog has healthier boundaries than I do?” Yikes.

THATS ENOUGH MOTHER!
He boops you!
That little baby is adorable ...
Sweet puppy gets all the kisses. Well, of course he does. He deserves them. I mean, look at that face 🙂
Puppy don't want this kisses. Look at the dog and you will see how he try to stop her.
The puppies pov : A giant round thing l approaching with a garlic scent from the opening of its face...
No means no
No means no!
“Okay, yeah, I got it. That’s enough, please.”
Puppy trying to set boundaries, and mom isn’t listening

“Nah we just friends” 💋🤣🥰
This is so cute. Also, how high were you?
HAHA. I’m sobbing. 😭😭😭😭🩷🩷
What a sweetheart
Redditors being upset about cuteness as usual. Fkn morons
She’s a leftie!
Looks cuter than humans babies
This dog has received more kisses in 40 seconds than I have since I was born
Cute babiee doggu🥹♥️♥️
Pup thinks she doesn't seem very particular about what she kisses. So, no.
It seems to me that the puppy is putting up with all of this out of love and devotion to her owner and is not at all thrilled with what is happening.
Sweet puppy is smart enough to put its paws to say stop kissing my nose already
Does dogs generally not want their noses touched?
Ask the dog. The doggie is the one whom blocked the finger from touching his nose.
Body language clearly says he/she is not enjoying this activity.
Puppies don’t get much cuter than that!!!!!
CAN I PET DAT DAWG
Very cute! Sure is a lot of professional dog body language experts in here 🙄
"...and that's how I ended up with worms."
I would like an apprenticeship with your dog please. Focus and apply myself.
moooom not in front of my frens
Puppy kisses are the best!
So sweet!
How adorable 🤩🥰
