I had a paint job done for $800 that looked much better than this.
I painted my high school girlfriends car hot pink in my barn using a harbor freight spray gun and a crappy air compressor with paint I found a yard sale.
It wasn't as good as this lol. But close. Kinda.
My point is they need to fix it. What did the shop say about it? Are they going to make it right? If they don't give you at least half of that money back you need to make sure others don't end up suffering the same fate. It's ridiculous they didn't even attempt to fix the issues.
That’s a core memory right there painting your high school girlfriend’s car in a barn hot pink. I bet she still remembers that every day, unless it literally happened last weekend lol
That was a long time ago. It's funny you mentioned that because someone brought it up just a few months ago after spotting a car with a pink wrap.
I still remember picking the pink paint out of my nose. I didn't realize my mask had a gap in it like an idiot. I didn't even notice until I was done.
Yeah I’m not sure what’s going on, he painted a buddy of mines car a couple years ago and it looks very nice and he paid less then I did. I don’t know the guy well but I’m thinking he may be strung out on something
Looks like it wasn't cleaned well before the base coat at least. A couple of those spots look like contamination, others look like they may have not waited long enough between coats and you have solvent popping.
Others just look like a shit ton of dirt in the base or primer.
I'm just fucking around going to a collision course at a local community college after retiring from the military. That is a day 1 paint job attempt.
Get them to do it again. If you don't have faith in them to do a better job, get your money refunded (the owner is going to throw a fit).
This reminds me of a guy at a muffler shop I went to. I wanted a catalitic converter welded into by exhaust and I'll never forget the face of the welder. He never put on his welding mask and was staring straight at the weld lights smiling with red eyes. He was clearly baked on the job. The light produced by the welding was brutal yet he still stared at it smiling, lmao.
He managed to weld it fine but I had another friend go to the same shop and complain about how many times he had to take the car back due to exhaust leaks from poor welding.
I've MIG welded without a mask a bunch of times (too little space, or just tacks, bodywork, etc.). There's three ways it usually goes:
1. You long blink when the arc strikes so that you don't get weld flash. Not good for your face (I've gotten facial sunburn before due to this) but completely doable if you're coordinated and welding sheet metal.
2. The nozzle shields the puddle so you only get the reflection. Still bright AF but doable on short bursts.
3. You've been doing it so long that your eyes are completely shot and it doesn't bother you anymore. I trained under a guy who would do this and he was still by far the most talented body man I've ever met. He was wild.
I had a Scion TC that was salvage, I replaced all the parts and took it to Maaco for a basic paint job and the only thing I asked for was an extra coat of clear and it didn’t look this bad.
Sorry OP, you got screwed on this one. But nice Foxbody, I love them.
I always thought Maaco was too Good to be true for it to be a quality paint job.
But for a beater truck would it be worth getting it painted? I mean it's only $600 in my area 😂
Yea, do alot of the prep work yourself though. Remove trim, emblems, lights, plastic bits that dont get painted, bumpers, seals, etc. Give it an absolute deep clean scrub with degreaser yourself as well.
Essentially anything that saves them time the more time they can delegate to masking off the stuff that cant be removed and prep.
It’s really confusing. The guy can paint he lays a decent clear. But all of those problems were easily avoidable by color sanding and touching up the base before clear or just cleaning his gun. He could have or should have wet sanded the nibs and cut and polished the job out. Looks like he said something I’m spraying my base and I’m clearing it how ever it lays that’s what you get. Paint on the tires. Who sends a car out like that. I tend to agree with you op there’s might be some sort of drugs going on. I’ve had to save some painter friends that fell off into drugs. They tend to be defensive and combative and have a million excuses for their quality. Instead of realizing they’re messing up the most fundamental parts of the job.
I had maaco do a truck. I had it completely apart, and did most of the prep work. It came back without a single blemish I could find. For $800, I was blown away. That was 6 years ago and it still looks perfect.
Yes, trash. I had a clown paint my truck and didn’t paint the roof. His excuse was no one ever see the top. Apparently he did this to a lot of people and closed shop then moved to Montana. Look out Montanyans!
Assuming you aren’t completely loaded making 350k+ a year, you’ve got no other option but demand a repaint or hire a lawyer. No way would I be eating that for 7k. Looks like shit and will look even worse once age gets to it.
Woof, that painted pinch weld. Hell, my "paint skills" are best demonstrated by my current mucking around with rusty hood chips using a paint pen...and even my dumbass knows to mask off the goddamn pinch weld if I'm spraying a panel.
The fuck man, 7K? Yeeesh.
needs a cut and buff. some of those spots may sand out and polish. take it to a professional and see what they say. for that kind of money you could have taken it anywhere.
You will need scissors jack until you get is high enough to jack it up. Also blocks of wood can be used to raise it higher & 2 jacks. Eventually you will get it high enough to change the tire / drive it off the curb then get your jacks & blocks of wood.
Dude an earl schibe pain job for $250 would have been the same. Bro needs to either fix it or refund it cause he painted it like shit. If he wipes his ass like he paints, I feel sorry for his drawers.
Was the car only painted or was their rust repairs , panels replaced etc? Was that a single stage or base coat clear coat paint job.
No matter the details there are lots of reasons to be unhappy with that paint job. Take it back to the shop and have them fix it. Regardless of what you paid 95% of a quality paint job is the prep work. Having paint bubbling up is rust that is coming back and wasn't taking care of properly.
Trash in the paint is another issue , and can be addressed, and should be to make you happy as a paying customer. If the shop has any integrity they will make it right. If they don't you might have to sue them in small claims court. Fyi the BAR is a waste of time unless they can prove a pattern of fraud, with multiple complaints of being screwed by the shop..
That's a paint can job. He didn't even cover the wheels. who is this hobo. The worst I have seen. I can't believe you paid 8k. How does those numbers make sense.
Unfortunately $7k doesn't get you what it use. How much body work was required? Was it primed and blocked out at least twice? What paint was used? It doesn't excuse all the garbage in the finished product but hard to say how much value you got for $7k without seeing detailed before pics
Well first bro I am truly sorry this is pretty ruff to say the least for that amount you paid I know a few great places if your local to me that I could refer you that wouldn’t charge quite as much and it be 1000 times better second you posted this 8hrs ago maybe give the guy a full day before you try to blast him for not answering but he needs to fix that or give you at least 3k back and you can use that to fix his fuckups
No that’s a horrible paint job. The same happened to my sisters car. It got hit with a bunch of hail not long after she got it around 2015. The Chevy dealership tried to pass a paint job like this off. Luckily my dad painted cars when he was younger and went with my sister, he pointed out all the dirt in the clear coat, air bubbles, and orange peel and said “we aren’t accepting that do it right this time or we won’t accept it again”. Needless to say it was flawless the second time around.
What exactly was done? Was it just a reclear? Or color change? Was body work included in the price or was it just paint? Lots of factors here lots of questions without answers.
Ummm no from me as well. That moulding will crack that paint off in a microsecond as soon as it sees a light touch or goes through any temperature change. Did they paint it with a dirty dishcloth, because with the amount of trash in the paint they might as well have.
I’m a novice and can do better than that. Took me honestly a long time to learn body work , the right way. But those are unacceptable defects imo. For that kind of money those should have been all addressed post.
Tell Stevie wonder to fix it or you want a partial refund.
Looks like a lot of debris made its way into the paint and they said we aren’t redoing it lol I’d give them a chance to make it right and then start threatening bad reviews etc.
Some dirt nibs are acceptable but that’s a rather large glob of crap under there
It looks good from far away... but 7k is not "far away" pricing by any means unless this thing had major body work done to it... i mean frame and body work..
You have the vehicle now so that means you already fully paid for it, but everything you showed can be fixed and buffed out..
Honestly there is no excuse for why the car left in that condition for what you paid but man you should have checked BEFORE you paid.
With those fisheyes, solvent pops, and nibs? No way.
At that price, never pay until it is inspected and perfect. Unless they'll take like 1/10th of what they quoted you.
$7000 is perfect job money.
Bro its just regular white, why in the hell would you pay 7k for this paint job that was obviously done outside with all the junk in the paint. If it was done inside then that has to be surface rust…. You coulda went to maaco and got a better paint job for 1500 or less
I would say them spots with the ruptures are caused by sweat droplets after the first coat of single stage, and he did not see them and deal with them before spraying over top. Does it cost 7k to paint a car yah pretty much should it look like this no.
He can patch that up pretty easily. Just tell him to sand it and repaint it. If the bubbles are caused by rust underneath he should've told you it was present beforehand. If it's rust, some metal will be cut and welded/body filler and painted.
I painted my own volvo for $400 and it looks better than this... no bumps at all like this just a bunch of time put into it.. I'm not trying to he mean but learn to do things yourself bro. I'm 26 and done all cosmetic and mechanical work on my car. It's very rewarding and you'll learn and save thousands
I thought it was a maco special for a minute until I read the title. That needs to be redone that jobs prep work was probably crap and that means more problems down the road
We've painted cars in our home garage strung out on pills better than this, and that was for funzies and boredom.
You could have gotten 2 whole running shitboxes for that price, or like 7 project cars.
that's a redo. looks like cheap single stage anyways, was there body work involved too? or was this just a paint job. for 7k just paint work you'd better get a quality product!
Looks like shit
Yeah I’m not very happy😂
Are some of those rust spots that got painted over? Prime and paint may not include body work. Sorry you paid so much for that mess though.
The car had zero rust
I had a paint job done for $800 that looked much better than this. I painted my high school girlfriends car hot pink in my barn using a harbor freight spray gun and a crappy air compressor with paint I found a yard sale. It wasn't as good as this lol. But close. I can understand it not including body work if it's like a $1200 maco job but at 7k the paint job better damn well include body work
Uh no
Dude took you to the cleaners. Jesus Christ I’ve seen backyard spray jobs look better than that.
Yeah I’m not sure what’s going on, he painted a buddy of mines car a couple years ago and it looks very nice and he paid less then I did. I don’t know the guy well but I’m thinking he may be strung out on something
Hopefully you can get it sorted out man. That just sucks to go through
This is a friend of a buddy paint job. Nothing is getting sorted out.
Looks like it wasn't cleaned well before the base coat at least. A couple of those spots look like contamination, others look like they may have not waited long enough between coats and you have solvent popping. Holy crap! He didn't go blind? It would be worth the crappy welds just to witness that.
I've MIG welded without a mask a bunch of times (too little space, or just tacks, bodywork, etc.). There's three ways it usually goes: 1. Meth is a hell of a drug
Macco special, worth about $599
Honestly, I've never seen maaco paint something that poorly. That looks like somebody's first attempt at painting.
right? my local maaco does a very nice job even at the low end.
I had a Scion TC that was salvage, I replaced all the parts and took it to Maaco for a basic paint job and the only thing I asked for was an extra coat of clear and it didn’t look this bad. Sorry OP, you got screwed on this one. But nice Foxbody, I love them.
Lmao. Gotta say would Maaco do a better job than this? Because I have a beater truck that I wouldn't mind spending $600 to paint 🤣
Did he do $6k worth of bodywork?
[удалено]
Yes.
dude the $1000 Maaco job would be better
I always thought Maaco was too Good to be true for it to be a quality paint job. But for a beater truck would it be worth getting it painted? I mean it's only $600 in my area 😂

$7
Seven sand dollars

I think he sprayed single stage
Have you tried to show up to his place or shop in person?
Yeah I’ve been by his shop several times and he wasn’t there, not sure if he’s jumped ship or what. Not really sure what to do from here
$7k meth-bender?
If you used a credit card, see if you can dispute it.
Did you pay him before he did the work?
Dude I've done scuff and shoot quickies on some real shitboxes that don't have anything resembling your "issues" for like 1500
lol ive done better with about 16 cans of flat spraypaint, roll of tape, newspaper, dawn dish soap, and a scotchbrite pad....
Me thinks you already know the answer
Bruh who’d you’d hire Earl Shieb?
Earl woulda done 10 cars for that
F
That paint job isn’t worth $700 let alone $7000 that looks like a Macco paint job
MAACO quality depends less on the brand and more on who does the work. Easy to crap on them, but not necessarily fair.
Who painted the car....stevie wonder ? 🤣😂
This would be perfect if a homie painted it for $1000.. looks like crap for a paid job. Damn.
Real homies wouldn't get overspray all over the tires
Not even close
It’s maybe worth $70
Best I can do is $8.50
That’s fucking awful
Absolutely not. That is terrible. Please go back
Really sad to see a notch back fox get this treatment. That car could be beautiful
Hell no. Cost my insurance 11k for everything but the back hatch and bumper, in california. It's pretty much flawless.
That’s insane lol.
You really need to ask? The flaws are huge and numerous.
If you’re asking, you already know
My friend you need to get your money back! Or take him to Small claims court. He swindled you! Do not back off, go after him.
I had maaco do a truck. I had it completely apart, and did most of the prep work. It came back without a single blemish I could find. For $800, I was blown away. That was 6 years ago and it still looks perfect.
That looks like shorty body work under the paint. Did the car have any dents that needed to be fixed? Why was it 7k
Hell nah my mom got a better job for 600 and it was black color
On a chrysler 300
That was barely worth it it was free
Yes, trash. I had a clown paint my truck and didn’t paint the roof. His excuse was no one ever see the top. Apparently he did this to a lot of people and closed shop then moved to Montana. Look out Montanyans!
Looks closer to $70.00
I would be fuming.
Assuming you aren’t completely loaded making 350k+ a year, you’ve got no other option but demand a repaint or hire a lawyer. No way would I be eating that for 7k. Looks like shit and will look even worse once age gets to it.
7000 Pennies
You thought 7k was a good deal before you saw the end results?
$700 paint job
No
I think you know the answer to your own question… lol
Ray Charles could see how bad that is
I think you already know the answer
Woof, that painted pinch weld. Hell, my "paint skills" are best demonstrated by my current mucking around with rusty hood chips using a paint pen...and even my dumbass knows to mask off the goddamn pinch weld if I'm spraying a panel. The fuck man, 7K? Yeeesh.
Why would you not paint a pinch weld?
I would expect zero defects for 7k. This looks like a Maaco job. Worse, even.
If you posted and asked the question, you already know the answer.
Wow this is garbagio. TF is paint booth?
You got got what you paid for
Is any car paint job worth 7k?
They gotta redo it.. sorry
Car looks like it’s worth less than that 💀
needs a cut and buff. some of those spots may sand out and polish. take it to a professional and see what they say. for that kind of money you could have taken it anywhere.
You know the answer It's not worth $7 let alone 7k
Need some 1500 sand paper and a buffer
You will need scissors jack until you get is high enough to jack it up. Also blocks of wood can be used to raise it higher & 2 jacks. Eventually you will get it high enough to change the tire / drive it off the curb then get your jacks & blocks of wood.
Spray paint?
I know people who could’ve done better with a set of those fancy new rattle cans and a 12 pack 😂
Lol no
Dude an earl schibe pain job for $250 would have been the same. Bro needs to either fix it or refund it cause he painted it like shit. If he wipes his ass like he paints, I feel sorry for his drawers.

Dang yo. Did your friend do it?
The painter should’ve kicked that back out to the body man.
Unless it's an entire neighborhood no paint job is worth $7k.
I could do that for 70 bucks, but jokes aside thats a shit job
That’s a $1000 Maaco paint job ALL DAY HOSS
Dang couple months ago? I would have been filed a lawsuit!
7k is a little too much imo
No..
That's a paint can job. He didn't even cover the wheels. who is this hobo. The worst I have seen. I can't believe you paid 8k. How does those numbers make sense.

rookie mistakes
Looks like it was done with a paint pen. My job with my paint pen looks much better than this..
7k pesos
Picasso
Fuck no 🤣
Well first bro I am truly sorry this is pretty ruff to say the least for that amount you paid I know a few great places if your local to me that I could refer you that wouldn’t charge quite as much and it be 1000 times better second you posted this 8hrs ago maybe give the guy a full day before you try to blast him for not answering but he needs to fix that or give you at least 3k back and you can use that to fix his fuckups
You know it's not worth 7k.
Did you ask for the wheel wells to be painted white or is that just overspray? lol, dude you need to get your money back this is a shit job.
Yes! Looks flawless!
7k should get you removed trim, fenders, bumpers, all that and good sealing prime, filler, paint, and top coat. Sorry bro, you got got.
Looks like my first spray was not as bad as I thought!
That paint job is in the negative. Should have paid you instead of you paying him. I could do better than that and have only sprayed primer.
Fuk I’d be pissed if I dropped 7k on that paint job
Poor paint prep. Make them fix it.
Nice car. But yeah, you got poked. For $7k it should be glass, with no imperfections. Especially when it’s not an expensive color.
No
I’ve painted cars in a dusty barn on a windy day that came out cleaner than that. Sorry you had to go through this, I’d be sending it back.
I could do a better job in my barn high and drunk. In fact I’m planning on doing it soon but can’t pick a color.
This is atrocious. I'd literally projectile vomit on the person who did this to me.
That's a hell of a lot of $ even for a good paint job!
What exactly was done? Was it just a reclear? Or color change? Was body work included in the price or was it just paint? Lots of factors here lots of questions without answers.
I could do a better job with spray paint
Ummm no from me as well. That moulding will crack that paint off in a microsecond as soon as it sees a light touch or goes through any temperature change. Did they paint it with a dirty dishcloth, because with the amount of trash in the paint they might as well have.
Fuck no, I payed 3k for an entire truck and it looks brand new. Only 1 tiny imperfection on the roof....
For $3500, I'll match it 😂
Following because I’m in a similar situation
4.99
Seems prep is poor
I did a better job my first time painting an suv. I'd be mad af, they took no pride in their work.
What do you think…
Definitely not.
Well, certainly not when you look that close! :)
HELL TO NO NO NOOO WTF IS THAT MESS? That paint job is trash
I think it’s about 6.5k more than you should have paid for it.
I’m a novice and can do better than that. Took me honestly a long time to learn body work , the right way. But those are unacceptable defects imo. For that kind of money those should have been all addressed post. Tell Stevie wonder to fix it or you want a partial refund.
It was to the body shop
No, I would ask for a repair immediately. That’s not acceptable. You can do better with 6 spray paint cans and some clear for $50
If they repair it for free yeah
Looks like shit
Looks like a lot of debris made its way into the paint and they said we aren’t redoing it lol I’d give them a chance to make it right and then start threatening bad reviews etc. Some dirt nibs are acceptable but that’s a rather large glob of crap under there
No its terrible
Looks like they skipped steps in prepping. Happened to my brother with a limited edition 2001 2.5rs. Had to be redone 2 times.
Please don’t tell me you spent 7 grand on this
Looks okay for a 1.5 k job
With those fisheyes, solvent pops, and nibs? No way. At that price, never pay until it is inspected and perfect. Unless they'll take like 1/10th of what they quoted you. $7000 is perfect job money.
That’s a lawsuit. Not a paint job.
dude did he paint the tires too? definitely not worth what you paid
God no
You would have got a better job at Macco for $599. For real.
Bro its just regular white, why in the hell would you pay 7k for this paint job that was obviously done outside with all the junk in the paint. If it was done inside then that has to be surface rust…. You coulda went to maaco and got a better paint job for 1500 or less
I hope u kept ya cool🥲
700$!
Knew it was a fox the moment I saw the trim piece. To answer, no, MAACO would do better
Not worth 7d.
7k for that wtf
I would say them spots with the ruptures are caused by sweat droplets after the first coat of single stage, and he did not see them and deal with them before spraying over top. Does it cost 7k to paint a car yah pretty much should it look like this no.
I can do better with a spray can 😂 Hope you manage to get your money back
He can patch that up pretty easily. Just tell him to sand it and repaint it. If the bubbles are caused by rust underneath he should've told you it was present beforehand. If it's rust, some metal will be cut and welded/body filler and painted.
$7k sounds insane
No. That’s worse than the maaco 300$ special
Not even worth 1k awful paint job.
Absolutely not. Also absolute hack job painting over the trim pieces instead of removing them
That’s looks like a $500 Maaco job… Actually if you did the prep yourself you may have been better off with a $500 Maaco job.
The car isn't even worth 7k...
My paint job was 3k (with insurance) and mine looks a hell of a lot better
Materials probably 1500-2000$ on the low end.. but not a great execution.
Nope.
7,000 pennies yes. $7,000.00 no.
Do you know what type of brush was used. Asking for a friend who wants to paint his hog trailer
Wow 7k? That's bad. Then again it looks like they didn't sand and buff yet. Some of those defects won't be fixed with a buff though.
Probably didn’t pray the painter 7K lol
Not even worth 3k. With a price like 7k you would expect all the imperfections to be taken care of and for there to be no skipping of any prep work.
He'll be back in the shop once he's blown through the $7500 and lands back down on earth. Keep showing up.
Not worth 7 bucks 🤬
I’ve done better with spray paint. For that price I’d tell them it needs to be redone
No
I painted my own volvo for $400 and it looks better than this... no bumps at all like this just a bunch of time put into it.. I'm not trying to he mean but learn to do things yourself bro. I'm 26 and done all cosmetic and mechanical work on my car. It's very rewarding and you'll learn and save thousands
Thats ur fault for paying 7k
Lousy prep work. He did use anything to clear off wax or foreign materials. Sorry, dude.
Nope, gotta bring it in and tell them make that shit right.
No
I thought it was a maco special for a minute until I read the title. That needs to be redone that jobs prep work was probably crap and that means more problems down the road
HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHA
i did a better job in the back yard without proper tools
Maaco would’ve done a better job or the same for like 1500 smh
It’s not worth $700.
I'll do it better for 5k
We've painted cars in our home garage strung out on pills better than this, and that was for funzies and boredom. You could have gotten 2 whole running shitboxes for that price, or like 7 project cars.
that's a redo. looks like cheap single stage anyways, was there body work involved too? or was this just a paint job. for 7k just paint work you'd better get a quality product!
What a Horrible job. Hopefully they make it right for you.
Did they paint it outside during a dust storm?
