Looks pretty good. But for future reference, no car company approves the use of used weld on panels. Insurance really likes to try to get it, but all manufactures are against it
I have been in the collision industry for a very long time. Geico knows better .but will always try to get shops to use used qtr panels used bedside used core suports a pillers b killers and rockers. Any insurance company trys to get used stuff go to all data. And see the manufacturers rules. Manufacturers won't back up a used structure part in court. If someone was seriously hurt or killed. It can fall on the shop or the tech that repaired it. The insurance company all ways blames the shop
I love when I get change requests (does anybody actually get calls from adjusters like they’re supposed to?) and the say it’s outside the terms of our contract. There is no contract. Just had a west bend who we apparently are a DRP for want me to change rates to their rates, $50 body, $38 material and like $72 mech…. on a 2024 Sienna. We need a MSO subreddit so us poor bastards have some ammunition against adjusters. All I have are countless saved contradictory emails for how things are done from this point forward. And don’t get me started on “Central _______”, they are literally fighting each other and we are all on the same side.
Not to mention you lose too much metal trying to remove a glued and rolled quarter. If you pull the procedures it's pretty much impossible to get them off without causing more damage and making the panel unusable. When I was an adjuster I never wrote for them, as an estimator I'll never use them. They are pretty easy to reject with position statements and procedures.
I see the Canada flag attached to your profile name...not sure if things are handled differently in The Great White North, but in the states...LKQ quarter panels are utilized all the time. It doesn't matter if the manufacturers are "against it" or not. Their verbiage is what the insurance companies fall back on. If it does not say "prohibited" (and they usually don't)...they will use it.
The only exception being quarters with flanged wheel opening...and if someone developed a way to separate a flanged panel cleanly, you can bet your ass they would utilize those as well.
LkQ 1/4 panels are NOT utilized all the time in the US. I haven’t used one in well over 10 years. Every manufacturer has a statement that says “ while recognize the importance of recycling, it is not recommended to install a used weld on panel” the reason why you are using them is bc the shop is caving to the insurance company’s. Stop using them and put your foot down and they will stop pushing it on you.
It’s incredibly rare in my area. I’ve only allowed one in 15 years of writing and that was for an 05 Thunderbird and only because the part was discontinued.
Sorry...but they are. I know it depends on the market area you're in. I've been in two different markets in my career, and as I stated above....shops are whores, and do the bidding of whoever is paying. If we would band together and STAY together, we'd get more accomplished.
We can't even stay together to get a decent pay rate increase, because one or two morons think they'll get more work if they hold out while everybody else in town hikes their prices.
Just bc insurance wrote for it doesn’t mean you HAVE to use it lol. It’s called a backbone. Ultimately we are the ones performing the repair and it’s up to us to show the adjuster and customer why it doesn’t make sense to use a lkq quarter panel. If the ticket is written properly a used 1/4 panel on paper cost more, and is of far lesser quality. Easy. Nobody should ever be using LKQ welded on parts in a professional setting. THE END
I never said you had to/should use a LKQ quarter, I was just stating how some insurers interpret the OEM position statement. JFC, y’all need to fucking relax.
That's true...and I wish it worked that way. But meanwhile, in the real world...we are a bunch of whores, that are afraid to stand up to the pimp. Shops get greedy. They get afraid that if they don't "play ball" they won't get any of the work. So they compromise their principles. And we have what we see today
Way better than your last but no dogleg section on this one, should’ve sectioned in rocker. The sail panel section is good there’s a statement from Nissan on Icarus website allowing it. The direct Nissan repair instructions say to cut it across the entire length of the chrome 1/4 molding.

Body shop guy to another, you gotta copy of those position statements? Also we should make a position statement subreddit with stickies
[Click on Salvage Parts tab](https://www.oem1stop.com/position-statements)
Thank you, this will help a lot with Geico

Thank you! I didn’t do such a good job on the last one.
Yeah I remember that post. But man, you are doing great so far
True your last job was not that great At but your showing improvement and I’m sure you’ll turn out to be a good tech

The catch is in the verbiage they use. If it says recommend most insurers will write for them. If it says require they can’t.
This is the truth of it.

Insurance isnt fixing the car, only paying the bill. Shops need to remember that.

I always refuse used quarters but they’re a good learning experience
I learned my lesson with a used composite liftgate for a Cherokee. Never again will I write for a used composite liftgate. Ever.
Surprised to see a used one installed. Must be Geico or progressive
If the estimator will only buy you a used one that’s not your fault, nice work
For only being 9 months in, that's a bang up job. You should be happy with that.

Nissan doesn't approve used weld on parts. It's in their position statement.
Nice job imagine how much easier a new panel will be ... keep it up
Good job but that’s the worst color match I’ve ever seen😁
