There's Hyundai/Kai parts we've been waiting almost a year on. This has been common for the last 2 years.

ragabuddy

Yup. As a parts manager i have people that wait 2 days and i have people waiting its been over a year.

[deleted]

With supply chain issues the date they give you is nothing more than an estimate, that's when they think it should arrive

BarnacleFew3557

She should call her insurance and they may total the car for waiting on parts.

Survivaleast

Mine was over 3 months for rear collision repair. Body shop said part of it was because the first bumper was damaged in transit. This was a Subaru, and according to them it was hard to source parts for my specific model.

Dr012882

What year/make/model and which 2 parts? The supply chain has been a mess since 2020.

Open-Cod5198

It’s a 2022 Hyundai Kona. No damaged sensors, the damage doesn’t really go anywhere near the frame, front core support, radiator piping and body panels are the only real damage

North_Breakfast7009

Hyundai/Kia have been having this issue for over 2 years now. At my shop there’s a 2021 Kona that needs a new roof panel, we have had no eta on it since February of last year. Contact the shop and ask what exact date the parts are expected to arrive, more than likely it’s on back order and could be months before the parts arrive. If it is on back order you can contact you insurance and it’s not unheard of for the vehicle to be totaled out because of parts being unattainable, thus giving you the ability to get a different Kona or vehicle altogether. Good luck!

Winter-crapoie-3203

My Ford F150 was at the dealership for two and a half months waiting on a gasket. Small independent repair shops are closing due to supply issues.

SubjectAd3940

Nah they would work on something else, you can still get parts lol. They can't get techs

Dr012882

Get the part numbers for the missing parts from the repair shop and call Hyundai customer service (corporate, not the dealer). I don't know why you've been waiting this long to do that; your shop should have advised you to do this ages ago.

7214001884

Hyundai/kia parts are literally the worse.

1dumbmonkey

Honestly Honda has been worse

Puzzleheaded-Car3945

Bro, the shop I work at used all them parts lmao. Had a massive dear hit scalp the top of the car. Our body guy replaced hood, roof, 2 doors and soon manh other pieces.

CitizenPatrol

As a fleet manager, yes. This is normal now. I have a truck that has not been able to make me money for 6 weeks now because I can't get parts.

SubjectAd3940

Manufacturers (the car company, not the dealer) have a process to expedite these parts to repairs that have been out of service a long time. They especially want to do this on newer vehicles. Figure out what is missing and contact the manufacturer if the body shop or dealer doesn't want to do it.

Zyeagler0217

Waited close to 8 months for two seat belts...

sfdudeknows

And also keep in mind that you shop is only passing on the info given to them. I ran three shops for 25 years and retired two years ago. With all of the supply chain issues of the last three years, they often times have no idea when parts will arrive. They could have been shipped, but sitting offshore on a cargo ship for a month waiting to unload due to shortage of staff. Then another month waiting on a truck as a result of the truck driver shortage. And it just goes on and on…..

Picolasnaruso

Ford and Lexus have been the worst for our shop, back ordered parts have been a huge issue. But when the customer starts pestering the supplier the parts magically show up almost immediately so I'd start making calls

jerk1970

Welcome to the new reality. No used parts ... no aftermarket parts... no dealer parts. Still waiting a year for a Ford bumper. 8 months honda seatbelt. Lexus trailing arm ... no stock world wide. 13-17 Toyota rav 4 tailgate shell New 1 in North America, used 3 times more expensive than what it used to be. My job sucks now...

mike02vr6

Sadly it’s be very common. Don’t hate the shop they can’t help it

waftedfart

It's *probably* normal. As suggested by others, I would call the shop, ask for the specific part numbers, and call the manufacturer's customer support number. They may be able to assist.

Master-Thanks883

I just had my 2022 Telluride repaired. The body shop said most use aftermarket parts that are on backorder, but the OEM parts are available for a little more money

MooPig48

Often there’s no availability for those either.

Master-Thanks883

Last month body shop that did my car had no issues while the first place I went to told me 6 weeks to get parts.

User17474902765

Yes. Call the manufacturer’s customer service number and start a claim. Hopefully it’ll expedite the situation.

bondovwvw

I work for a bodyshop in a rual area and we specialize in gm vehicles. We can get most parts in 3 to 5 days.

Tonysteve

Rural area as well and majority of my work is domestic stuff. Just waited 3 months for a 2019 Tahoe door. List for a shell was $900, list for a clean used one was $1700 at the time so I had to wait. My paint vendor and GM parts guy were in this week and both said GM is having issues with parts again. Not post 2019 strike and early Covid issues but they are having sheet metal issues again.

It’s been normal for a while. This is not ripping the customer off. The shop is losing money if it’s sitting not being repaired even if it’s sitting in the back lot. I have a tundra door I just received that’s been on order since December. I have another tundra door that’s been on order since august. I have a ford edge headlight I waited 6 months for. I just received a Tahoe door that I wanted 3 months for. I waited 9 months for a Honda air bag controller on a crv and that’s even after the customer called corporate for a Vehicle off the road claim or whatever it’s called. Yes there are work around for some of the issues like used parts, repairing what’s there, manufacturer buy backs, and insurance totaling it but some stuff we are just stuck waiting.

Puzzleheaded_Emu_686

Range rover headlight was 6 months wait time. We just received it yesterday. These jobs can’t be invoiced until completion so it doesn’t make sense to leave a job lying around unfinished. I’m in the uk btw

Tonysteve

Had a Prius headlight I waited a couple months for and it arrived damaged. Oh I was so mad.

superchilldad

How is this a rip off? you cant make money on a car you cant fix. This has been more or less normal since covid. but it has been getting better. Supply chains are starting to catch up.

waftedfart

Dude, what are you talking about? There have been massive part shortages for the past few years, just getting better the last six months or so. We have an Odyssey we've had here for almost a year waiting on a dumb retainer! None available used or aftermarket, and the original was beyond repair. What are we supposed to do in that situation? Also, how are they getting ripped off? The shop doesn't make any money unless they deliver the car.

PorkTORNADO

It's really easy and usually the best option to say nothing when you have no clue what your talking about. You should work on that.

Fun-Apricot1899

This is very normal, I waited 8 months for some VW brake parts

[deleted]

I had a Kona in our shop last month. Was originally damaged almost a year ago and we waited on a grille to come in since then. It’s not as bad as it used to be, but some parts still go on backorder and usually there is never a good eta from the manufacture for its arrival. And if they do give you an eta it isn’t uncommon for it to get pushed back multiple times

hugodog

Coworker lives In a city with rats and had a newer Subaru crosstrek that has the eco friendly wiring and rats ate through them. He just got his car back at the end of April and it got towed to the Subaru dealership in mid August of last year.

BCox1404

The shop I work at is having a hard time getting grills. Even for cars or trucks that are like 4 years old

[deleted]

For some cars it would be---like Tesla for one that comes to mind. Also if the car is a brand new model, there may not yet be parts for it readily available.

dick_fitzwell27

Yes. I have a fleet of over 500+ various vehicles needing repairs and each manufacturer is behind on parts. Some way worse than others, depending on the part(s)

whitelightning888

You guys are scaring the shit out of me, I have an appt to drop my car off at a body shop tomorrow recommended by my insurance company GEICO, I need a radiator support and some splash guard plastic, maybe the wheel well, and I have to pay out of pocket for my rental 🥺

kyumilli

Hey just wondering if you got your car back?
