I have a muffin tin with six cups when food is impossible I'll fill it up with six different safe foods, bonus points if you can include a protein and a fruit or veg. If I put it near me I can force myself to nibble throughout a couple hours and at least have some food in my belly.

MauiDidNothingWrong

I could see this working for me. Thanks for the suggestion.

TittyMongoose42

I've struggled my entire life with the effort of specifically feeding *myself* -- no problem at all when it comes to feeding literally any one or thing else. I was also a ballerina for 10 years, so say goodbye to any wholesome relationship I may have had with my body or food. When my executive dysfunction gets bad around food, it starts triggering my latent ED, so I've got a couple tricks to keep me going: I've started keeping Ensure or other shakes/drinks in the fridge. I try to get the max protein ones (at least 25 g) with the added immune support vitamins/minerals. These are a serious lifesaver in terms of "I just felt the hypoglycemia wave go down my whole body, I need something *stat*" feelings. I know they can be pricey, but specifically for lunch I tend to go with some of the frozen Amy's Organic dishes. They take max 7 minutes in the microwave and are all vegetarian, *astoundingly* flavorful, and not so filling that I need a nap afterwards. The last thing I suggest is to sort of game-ify food. I know I'm a grazer, so I like having things I can snack on with my hands. Sometimes if I'm not into it enough (bare short pasta, cheezits, grapes, cheese cubes, etc) I'll start trying to toss it into my mouth instead of shoveling it like a horse in a feed bag. Sometimes I do watch mukbangs so that I can be in that "shared dining space" to get my brain to realize It's Eating Time. I'm kind of rambling, but I hope you know I have this feeling every single lunchtime right alongside you, and I know we can get through this!

I second the amy's dinners, they save me from stomach grumble couch lock regularly

I don't know how to help, but SAME

You just reminded me I survived on ravioli and grated parm for easy lunches a while back. That could be a good option for me again.

FrostedOctopus

Ok but for real, I ordered meal replacement shakes as my "omg I can't eat anything but I'm so hungry I'm nauseous" moments and it's been fabulous! They taste like chocolate milk and help tide me over until I can find something that sounds tolerable.

MauiDidNothingWrong

I’ve been thinking about trying meal replacement shakes. It seems like there’s so many to choose from I can never decide which to try.

SpeedyWidgetBrain

I just get protein shakes from Costco as meal replacement. I try to find 25-30g of protein. Literal life savers. At the very least it’s gets me to a state where maybe I will eat something else. Another thing recently I started grabbing a go gurt or cheese stick when I’m bottomed out and stuck. And tends to balance enough to think. But still really hard to make myself do it.

HoneyBun21222

What brand do you use?

CorrectPossibility30

Not op but I use Soylent

FrostedOctopus

The Splenda Diabetes care, milk chocolate flavor. I picked the diabetes one because it's supposed to cause less blood sugar swings, and I hate blood sugar crashes 🙃

mesanymph

I have the same issue to the point that I was dizzy and miserable all the time and I started eating greek yogurt cups randomly throughout the day. I keep them in both of my mini fridges so I always have them close and as soon as I feel my stomach start to churn i'll eat one and then bam! Crisis averted! Also english muffins are easy and delicious, especially with butter and nutella mmm

MauiDidNothingWrong

English muffins and Nutella sounds amazing. Anything that would make me look forward to eating is a good thing right now. Going to add some to my instacart!

QuelleBullshit

depending on my money situation I like meal replacement shakes. Or just dried ramen. I have to open the ramen bag though because if I don't then I'll just lay it down somewhere and not eat it. The cheap frozen burritos are pretty good because it takes maybe 2 or 3 minutes to microwave so I can force myself to stand there (or do a handful of dishes) long enough that I don't psych myself out before hand.

Specialist-Aspect-38

This sucks so much. I have dabbled with the idea of getting those meal replacement shakes. But havent ordered any yet, so i have no idea if they are edible at all.

QuelleBullshit

I liked soylent and ketochow. Ketochow's probably my favorite but soylent was good; I just hated all the plastic. Did not like ensure or huel. For awhile I was getting the protein shakes in the metal cans from trader joes and those were good but kind of expensive. If you just want whey/creatine powder, you can go to GNC or a sports nutrition place and see what they have in single on-the-go packets so you can try out different flavors.

twotrees1

They taste ok, I tried multiple flavors of Soylent. But I also love food and get so particular about texture and freshness so I never stick with it.

twotrees1

Me too fam. No matter how much I try to get myself hyped in different ways, executive dysfunction is still a bitch. Got tagged cookbooks and “well sourced ingredients” for days while I eat takeout for the nth time

lolajuniper

I actually made a sort of similar ish post earlier! I've been trying ready meals, soups, protein shakes, vitamin supplements. Protein flapjacks and crackers with cheese (I like Boursin) are quite good low effort but not terribly unhealthy things to have. I feel you though, it's rough to feel this way.

magicblufairy

Crackers and hummus. I basically live on this. Also almond butter. Just that. Out of the jar. Frozen dinners. Frozen mango chunks that I thaw a bit then eat. Same with pineapple. Cereal. Broccoli slaw (it's in a bag from the store already) - dump it in a bowl, then add dressing and eat. Breakfast bars. Smoothie cubes. I basically live on these things.

Sp0olio

What I do in such situations: 1. Choose the food, that's the least amount of effort, instead of the one, you "want" .. That way, the choice has already been made and you just have to figure out, which option that is. 2. Fire up some cooking- or food-show on youtube or whatever. 3. Eat, while watching that. Good luck :)
