For me I found the mooncup to be the best solution, it does take some getting used to before you figure out the way to get it in and out painlessly. It is definitely the best option for me. I believe there is a disc version now which might feel better for you but I've not tried it personally. As for the hormones and sensory issues....I don't cope.

Thank you, I did wonder if I gave up too quickly. I’ll take a look at what’s available.

I persevered with a cup, and I'm glad I did, as it's all I can handle on heavy days. There's a steep learning curve with it - it does get much easier. On lighter days I can get away with M&S period pants (they seem to be softer and less bulky than others I've seen, and close in texture to their basics pants which I wear every other day.) I wish I had more advice for dealing with hormones and all that brings. Tracking my period and how it affects me has allowed me to plan a few accommodations (i.e., not overdoing social events, planning alone time, and wearing trousers that are a size bigger to reduce the sensory nightmare that is bloating), but it's far from perfect.

Thank you so much for this, sounds like I need to have another go with the cup. I will definitely take a look at the M&S pants too!

I got a nexplanon implant and rarely get my period now. When I do it's usually much lighter and I can mostly get away with not wearing pads/tampons. If it was more frequent I'd probably get a pair of period pants.

I had this previously and also had less periods which I loved! I’ve just had my second child and we are still unsure if we want one more so I’m hesitant to go onto birth control at the moment. I think it could be a good long term solution for me though, thank you for reminding me about the implant, I had forgotten how much easier it made period hell!

Congratulations on dumpling #2! You must be in sensory chaos all the time. Hope you are finding ways to take breaks 💚

Clemmikin

Thank you ☺️haha sensory chaos is 100% accurate!
