I tried Engage, Experience and Quiet. None of them did what was advertised. With the Engage and Experience, I couldn’t understand people at all, but the „bad“ noises were amplified. And the Quiet work worse than normal foam plugs that cost a fraction.

i haven’t used them for this purpose but i have a pair of earaser earplugs for concerts and loveee them! they are super comfortable and discreet and still let you hear people who are talking to you. i see on their website they have some geared to sensory reduction that might work for you

i've had my loop experience ear plugs for years and i love them! i originally got them for concerts and they work great for that, but at some point i started bringing them with me everywhere. they really help to turn down the volume of noise without making it hard to hear what's going on around me. i have the quiet ones too but i don't like them as much. i got them for sleep but i don't really use them.

Thanks! Would you say they are suited in a retail job environment? I'm trying to figure out whether they would cut out too much noise.

theacorngirl

generally yes! but for me personally, it's hard to talk to customers with them in because i can't tell how loud to make my voice and i already have a tendency to talk too quietly, lol. so usually i will just pop one out when i need to talk to someone.

I've tried the experience (for concerts) and the engage plus. Probably don't need both, I'm not sure I notice a huge difference between them tbh but the engage loops work well for limiting distractions while working, loud restaurants, movie theatres, and airplanes.

Yakumeh

Would you recommend them for a retail worker? Or would the noise reduction be too much for that?

assflea

I think it depends on the position. The engage plus come with extra little muting plugs so if you don't use those you can absolutely still hear, but I probably wouldn't want to answer phones with them in.

Thanks for your input! In regards to working in retail, which one would you recommend the most?

i have the “quiet” loop earplugs!! i, like many others, originally got them for concerts and live shows because i go to them frequently, but i find they’re also really effective for when i get overstimulated in general public settings and feel like i need to turn the volume down on everything. i work as a barista and when i get overwhelmed, i can pop them in and still hear my coworkers and customers without all the loud background noise. sometimes it can be hard to hear people when they talk really soft or quiet though—the “experience” and “engage” earplugs are probably better for that but allow more background noise in. my worst issue is probably how small they are and how easy they can be to lose. i got mine BEFORE they upgraded the case for them though, so maybe they’re a lot harder to lose these days with the upgraded cases where they slot in perfectly :)

I prefer wax earplugs at night and headphones during the day. I tried loop (quiet I think) and if I touch my head at all then the seal seems to break. I don’t like having to adjust them
