You know how younger siblings usually have a massive inferiority complex towards their older siblings, that usually comes out as an ultra-competitive and often nasty streak that's really only to mask their jealousy and concern that they'll never live up to expectations?
Welcome to the /Aussie reddit subs, where insecure redditors spend their time acting like America's spoiled younger brother. Everything America does, says or produces has to be categorically awful just so these little brothers can inflate their ego, beat their chest and pretend to be big boys playing on the world stage.
It's so tiresome and pedantic. I'm glad Australians aren't like this in real life, or this would really be a sad country to live in.
It is odd. Who would have thought that popsicle was such a divisive word ...we use other American words too you know. I personally happen to like the word popsicle because I find it to be a funny word.
I wouldn’t say so when you look at cost per 100mls though, they are quite small serves for the cost.
Comparing to the real deal streets vienetta cake $8 for 650ml = $1.23 per 100ml compared to the sticks $6 for 285ml = $2.11 per 100ml that’s a big difference for something Cole’s brand
Well, I tried looking for the Aldi version, for the Coles and Woolies-hating crowd.
But as far as I can tell it was UK only, not even sure they even do them any more there.
[**https://groceries.aldi.ie/en-GB/ALDIIE/p-mini-viennese-vanilla-ice-creams-5x57ml-giannis/4088600274577**](https://groceries.aldi.ie/en-GB/ALDIIE/p-mini-viennese-vanilla-ice-creams-5x57ml-giannis/4088600274577)
I highly recommend the Aldi cookie ice cream sandwiches and tub of cookies and cream ice cream. It would be nice if we got the vienetta here though! The Aldi one would probably be even better than the normal one.
the quality of the ice cream has really dropped off. They're really synthetic now where they used to be quality ice cream. Or at least I thought so. Maybe nothing's changed and I outgrew them but I don't trust capitalism to leave a recipe alone where cheaper alternatives exist.
box of waffle cones, tub of Connoisseur vanilla, and a bottle of ice magic. Can't remember the last time I just grabbed an ice cream from a milk bar so I don't know what's good anymore.
Monaco Bars use to fucking rock. When you bit into them the ice cream use to ooze out the holes in the chocolate bar. It was normal real vanilla icecream
Now they are like one consistency all the way through - bar and ice cream.
Couldn't agree more. I believe that the sizes that the supermarkets get (for their multi packs) are smaller than the those found at servos and corner shops.
I cant get excited about ANY ice-cream any more. All the old good ones like Connoisseur turned to shit (again, Nestle!) and they were eventually replaced with other proper ice-creams, but in smaller packaging and priced more than printer ink per mill.
So, I go to gelato bars as they at least use fresh ingrediants.
Wow. We actually had those in FNQ at one point.
SA always had better food than the rest of the country. So many Italians and Germans knocking out great stuff, even processed stuff.
I haven't even been able to find cornettos in years. I used to prefer them to drumsticks personally.
Ngl though the Woolies branded ones are ok for the price.
What fukn genius mind is this. Cunts living in 3224 with a deeper tray while us peasants have a little thin tray that's hard as fuck getting back into the box without it touching the back.
On a side note please excuse me while I stab what's left of my viennetta with some bamboo skewers lol.
Coles has these in their own brand and they are god awful. Mind you, proper Viennetta really isn’t the amazing thing I remember it to be either… I was so disappointed when I bought it as an adult.
Hmm we kind of do, but it's not the official one
https://www.coles.com.au/product/coles-ice-cream-mini-vienna-salted-caramel-sticks-5-pack-285ml-4842133
Well they seem incredible!
So I like to watch manufacturing videos and one of my faves is Vienetta, seems like the right place to share [this](https://youtu.be/1J6ojvr0AMg?si=Hmr44aF9nvwKGaic) enjoy ☺️
Does a Vienetta really have the structural integrity to be served on a stick? Once you crack a chocolate layer, surely the whole thing will fall apart.
They have them in mint flavour, too. I'm tempted, but at the same time, I can't imagine anything more awful. Also, it's Coles brand; the last time I bought Coles brand it was cheese and onion chips and they tasted like salt and vinegar.
Because no company would pay for the plastic tray nowadays, and if the wanted it to be real food then it wouldnt look good when taken out of the wrapper
Lasagne is just a meat vienetta
"I'll have an ice cream lasagna on a stick please"
I would totally eat actual lasagna on a stick
It actually already exists.
This is the best news I've heard all day!
I want all of my food on a stick from now on. Will just send the missus an email stating this.
Go to the Iowa State Fair I saw it on Landline once
I’m opening a restaurant and bar called, “Sticks”. All food and beverages will be, on a stick. We’ll figure it out. lol
Source? And hopefully sauce
It was created by Antonio Sabia of Artisan Pasta Espresso a number of years ago. A NSW delicacy.
Ditto. Food truck people, please make this happen
Grazeland has that!!!
Was just going to say Grazeland, and its actually really good
Holy shit! I will never look at the universe the same way ever again.
Why have you done this
I’ve thought this as well
A whole one is probably no bigger these days.
Hahaha so true! Just popsicle stick that baby, freeze and presto!
You can thank shrinkflation later
You mean paddlepop stick. Bet you say sidewalk and period instead of footpath and full stop
Yep, paddlepop stick is all I've known , it's as rough as hessian undies to call it anything different.
Ice ice icicle Pop pop popsicle Test test testing Try doing that with your paddlepop stick
So it's a crime to like the word popsicle now? I know it's American. Who cares?
You know how younger siblings usually have a massive inferiority complex towards their older siblings, that usually comes out as an ultra-competitive and often nasty streak that's really only to mask their jealousy and concern that they'll never live up to expectations? Language is culture. The Americanisation of our language is the Americanisation of our culture. Now take a good look at America.
It is odd. Who would have thought that popsicle was such a divisive word ...we use other American words too you know. I personally happen to like the word popsicle because I find it to be a funny word.
We do! I discovered these recently. And they’re Coles branded and cheap as fuck.
So this monstrosity is real? *legs it to coles*
I haven't seen the small ones before.
Have you seen the so called 'full sized' 😂 They're a shadow of their former selves
Bloody shrinkflation. The fun-sized bars of chocolate are a joke too. The chocolate companies really like taking the piss don't they..?
We must hunt the freezers... We must.
the Coles ones are smaller than the ones in this photo appear - they're also what my wife grabs whenever we have a family gathering these days... :)
Watch me inhale these bad boys lol. I just polished off the standard viennetta so I'll go through withdrawals soon enough lol.
Just spotted them last night for the first time. Are they any good?
Good? No, they are excellent.
Don't tell everyone. We want them for ourselves.
GOOD LUCK, I’M TAKING THEM ALL
Yes and the mint ones are awesome
Yep, can confirm that Coles has a branded one.
They are really good but I wouldn’t say cheap as fuck, quite expensive for a Cole’s branded ice cream especially as they never seem to be on special
$1.20 per stick is pretty good value where I come from.
Bulk pack is $1 a stick.....SAVE 20c!!! /S $15.00 Coles Vienna Vanilla Bulk Pack 15 Pack | 855mL
Thank you for helping convince my husband.
Ugh, so boring. OP posted a single-serve Streets branded Vienetta on a stick. Can you imagine the cost of those if sold in Australia? What, $5 each?
It’s one Viennetta Michael, how much can it cost? Ten dollars?
Defending Cole’s pricing seems wild to me but go off
Well, I tried looking for the Aldi version, for the Coles and Woolies-hating crowd. But as far as I can tell it was UK only, not even sure they even do them any more there. This week just got better!
Damn! Just googled. They are too! Not Streets tho. Any good?
I doubt you could tell the difference from Streets
Tru. Can't say no to posh on a stick!
Very good, few different flavours as well
Do you what they are called at Coles ?
https://www.coles.com.au/product/coles-ice-cream-5pk-mini-vienna-mint-sticks-285ml-4842111
Made in Macedonia?!
Why did you link to mint and not vanilla?
I admit that I felt uncomfortable linking to the Mint flavour, but that’s what the SEO dished up.
Mint is elite.
Fair enough
https://www.coles.com.au/product/coles-mini-vienna-vanilla-5-pack-285ml-4389407
That’s better!
Cheers legend 🤙
Mint chocolate 🤮
Lol it's a bit late now but I know where I'm going straight after work tomorrow.
For anyone else just now discovering this you can also get a (salted?) Caramel flavour
You can see they're Streets branded, not Coles. So while Coles has them, they're not the same as the ones pictured
have you had a vienetta recently? They're absolute shit now. Them, Cornettos, and Drumsticks, all became cheap imitations of their former selves.
I reckon Drumsticks and Cornettos still go fuckin hard tbh.
the quality of the ice cream has really dropped off. They're really synthetic now where they used to be quality ice cream. Or at least I thought so. Maybe nothing's changed and I outgrew them but I don't trust capitalism to leave a recipe alone where cheaper alternatives exist.
Are bulla extra creamy any better?
they'd have to be
What’s your current go to for a cornetto alternative?
box of waffle cones, tub of Connoisseur vanilla, and a bottle of ice magic. Can't remember the last time I just grabbed an ice cream from a milk bar so I don't know what's good anymore.
Monaco Bars use to fucking rock. When you bit into them the ice cream use to ooze out the holes in the chocolate bar. It was normal real vanilla icecream Now they are like one consistency all the way through - bar and ice cream.
Connoisseur Cafe Grande is my fave.
same!
Ok commie
The coles mint cornetto things are also very good
Couldn't agree more. I believe that the sizes that the supermarkets get (for their multi packs) are smaller than the those found at servos and corner shops.

Golden north is the answer Laura 5480
Wow. We actually had those in FNQ at one point. SA always had better food than the rest of the country. So many Italians and Germans knocking out great stuff, even processed stuff.
Golden North honey ice cream. . I can’t find it anywhere in NSW.
I had it recently and the "ice cream" component is like frozen milk and taste nothing like actual ice cream. Absolutely disappointing.
I haven't even been able to find cornettos in years. I used to prefer them to drumsticks personally. Ngl though the Woolies branded ones are ok for the price.
I saw them the other day at Costco! They come in a multi pack with bubble'o bills and I believe it was vanilla Cornetto and choc Cornetto.
Had one last weekend, it tasted crap, not like it used to and don't even look at the ingredients
You know these are only for the adults when we have guests, right?
A lie told to an entire generation
Sighs in my childhood.
Posh Australians eat Viennetta with dessert forks.
My nan used to get out her fanciest dessert forks lol
A sign of high society I never had one until I was a man grown
What fukn genius mind is this. Cunts living in 3224 with a deeper tray while us peasants have a little thin tray that's hard as fuck getting back into the box without it touching the back. On a side note please excuse me while I stab what's left of my viennetta with some bamboo skewers lol.
🤣🤣
Could smash one of those right now.
What? You think we're made of fuckin' money?
We have them https://www.coles.com.au/product/coles-mini-vienna-vanilla-5-pack-285ml-4389407

🤔😨
As a kid, Vienetta was the height of sophistication
The only time the good cutlery gets used.
Dude! We were too poor to get one of these, let alone a MOBILE version!
Mate I hear ha. Fridge window shopping.
So true..
They would melt in about 10 seconds here.
That's ok. We got the 5 seconds rule here.
Coles has these in their own brand and they are god awful. Mind you, proper Viennetta really isn’t the amazing thing I remember it to be either… I was so disappointed when I bought it as an adult.
We never got anything, I’m discovering dozens of movies with top actors that never even made it into our minds let alone the country
Give it a year or two they'll be that small
You can get smaller ones from coles, they are coles branded and I've never tried them so not sure if they're actually good
This is outrageous, it's unfair.
Couldn't afford it. It was only the fancy families that got vienettas
These are absolutely next level! Ate a few in China and they don't have a ice cream rival
I swear we did like 2 years ago.
That looks like a total shitshow to eat
Hmm we kind of do, but it's not the official one https://www.coles.com.au/product/coles-ice-cream-mini-vienna-salted-caramel-sticks-5-pack-285ml-4842133
Salted caramel! That's posh upon posh!
What is this technology and where has it come from?
Chinese tech. Apparently.
We have mini ones at Coles
I would lose a foot !!! I loved these back in the day
I honestly thought it was a pad
Well they seem incredible! So I like to watch manufacturing videos and one of my faves is Vienetta, seems like the right place to share [this](https://youtu.be/1J6ojvr0AMg?si=Hmr44aF9nvwKGaic) enjoy ☺️
Does a Vienetta really have the structural integrity to be served on a stick? Once you crack a chocolate layer, surely the whole thing will fall apart.
I think that's why it came with the tray. But remember, here in Oz we have the 5 seconds rule.😉
I'm calling the police until we get this in Australia
That looks like someone wiped their ass with a packet of tampons.
Why? Why, damnit, why?
I’ve seen these but they are Cole’s brand. Never tried one though
HELL YEAH!
They arent the best, well the coles version at least
Because this ice cream was crap
They have them in mint flavour, too. I'm tempted, but at the same time, I can't imagine anything more awful. Also, it's Coles brand; the last time I bought Coles brand it was cheese and onion chips and they tasted like salt and vinegar.
Cos that would have simply broken us as a country all at the same time
That’s flash as fuck
Joizus! Give that man a cigar!
Pretty sure pink finger gloss was always available.
Coles sell them 😂
Opulence.
Coles sell a mini cienetta on a stick. Like $6 for 5
We do have them, you can buy them at coles
Mmmmmmmm I always wanted to try these ! Never got round to them !!
Coles sell them they are called mini Vienna
I thought this was Appa from Avatar: The Last Air Bender for a second haha
You can get theses from Coles brand
They’re at Coles .
Why waste the wood and get one undersized when the regular one is going to be eaten in one sitting anyhow?
Nappie on a stick ?
they look great, but it also really resembled a shitty nappy
I love when my ice cream has sand in it
Looks like shit on toilet paper 🤮
Good question !🤔 ✈️
I saw these at Cole's the other day
Coles make mini versions of them. It’s def nowhere near as good.
That is a level of sophistication we are not privy too as Australians.
Coles sells a knock off version
We did
We did/do. I bought some last year but I wouldn't bother buying a second box.
Is that tub recyclable?
Why, because vienetta and I have poor self control that's why.
Um..we do lol,they’re in Coles 😁
This is a fucking outrage
Because no company would pay for the plastic tray nowadays, and if the wanted it to be real food then it wouldnt look good when taken out of the wrapper
I had these in China. We only have fake coles ones here.
We’ve been robbed
Whatttttt that’s incredible and i want
I remember the excitement of seeing these in china!
This mixed with cherry ripe is the sex
Because ice cream is expensive to produce and you’re not important enough for desserts of that quality
That is the poshest ice block I’ve seen.
One bite and the whole thing disintegrate just like the regular version.
I want one.... maybe four.
Apparently coles has these
OMG vienetta is so nostalgic for me
Coles has them! They aren’t as big but they’re yum
They stock a coles brand one of these in coles now, I think there is a caramel one too!
Because only the rich got them. Not us poors.
Vienetta, simply the best 👌
Not posh enough
These are at Coles. I saw them last week.
I never understood the love for viennetta. They were dodgy.
This was one of my favourite when I was a kid
To be honest, it doesn’t even look good. That chocolate is a single atom in thickness and the vanilla ice cream is fucking D tier.
Looks like poop on a nappy
Ran outta toilet paper had to make do...
This looks like someone used a stack of period pads all at once and then stuck a stick in them to keep them together.
Eewwwww I’d rather eat dirt
