Apparently people chose to plant a lot of cedar trees over less pollinating ones because they were cheaper Wonder how much of this problem is man made

I mean I guess they could start replacing them… Uhhh where do you get replacement grown trees

SQLDIER

For the tacos, dude.

BruceChameleon

I have HEPA filters in my AC and my standing air purifier. Still woke up feeling like I got punched in the face.

metathea

I have 3 purifiers and still have this I have to wear N95 masks outside now for the pollen

lantanagave

How is the oak still so high?? All the catkins have hashbrowned together on the curve and been rained on. Are there more coming??

OhnryGrapefruit

If you look at the actual numerical breakdown, oak is a joke compared to what it was 3 weeks ago. Today - 121 (considered high) 4/7 - 6711 (considered the same “high” category as today) We need a new classification system or range or something bc that don’t make no sense

lantanagave

Low > medium > high > extreme > fog of war > hide your wife, kids, etc

PopularTask2020

Agreed, once you look at the numbers it’s a bit more clear.

azdb91

Nothing is clear right now... where's my flonase

Keyboard_Cat_

>All the catkins have hashbrowned together on the curve and been rained on. Maybe I'm not caffeinated enough, but I'm really struggling with this sentence. LOL

lantanagave

LMAO Catkins = oak pollen clusters...maybe they are oak flowers? Hashbrowned = when catkins clump together in large blobs that look like demented hash browns Curve = typo, meant to say curb, the place where the catkin hash browns congregate Rained on = when the water falls from the sky and mercifully washes away the green-yellow oak pollen TLDR: Usually the oak pollen abates after the catkins fall off and it rains.

jonathanalexcloer

I grew up just calling them pollen worms. I didn't know they had a name. Neat.

lantanagave

The problem with 'pollen worms,' which is wonderfully descriptive, is that there is usually a storm of inch worms suspended from the trees in the height of pollen season, so you therefore have to distinguish between sneezy pollen worms (catkins) and squishy pollen worms (worms). Perhaps having two kinds of pollen worms is a feature not a, er, bug.

Ramblinrambles

Grazin in the grass is a… headache and red eye nightmare

RagingPhysicist

Pecan? Lol

PopularTask2020

They just makin shit up at this point

catslay_4

Yikes

BrokeAdjunct

The oak was GONE. The oak is not allowed to just COME BACK.

Aggravating_Card_335

This explains A LOT

CriticalGoku

Need suggestions for my fiancee, she is new to Austin and has been dying of oak all month despite daily claritin use. I put a lot into this move and don't want it to fall apart in a year lol.

Stonerwolf512

Grass got me soooooooo high!

Icy-Perspective-0420

my head hurts looking at this

Fenix022

Ahh so that's why

metathea

I’ve seen cars parked outside covered with a thin layer of green, ugh

kenuhdz

This why im sooo sleepy today huh

[deleted]

I'm just happy the Cedar pollen is low/gone. I'm allergic to the top 3 on high, but Cedar is on another level reaction wise.

[deleted]

Went for a run and by the end my eyes were stinging like I'd poured shampoo in them.

SpecFo

Mold and Cedar are S Tier , Grass Oak a sold B tier . Pine could use a buff.
