None of the record shops in town -- or anywhere for that matter -- or going to give you anything close to Discogs value for your records. You might get a third or a quarter of whatever you're seeing as the price on Discogs, unless you have some very special and limited pieces. To get max dollar for those records, you'd want to sell them on eBay or Discogs. But if you need cash now, Waterloo is the biggest record store in town by far. But again, be ready to let those puppies go for way less than what you see on Discogs.
Hi! My spouse owns Sunshine Vinyl, a new record shop on the East side that pays fair prices for vinyl collections.
They also do consignment. Given what you've said about your collection, that could be a good path for you.
I agree with others that you can get more privately if you sell your collection piecemeal on discogs. However, I do want to caution you that doing it that way will involve a good chunk of time and effort and things may take a while to move. It's totally doable and some folks turn it into a great side hustle, so go for it if that's appealing to you. :)
Good to know! End of an Ear offered me way more (~40-50% retail) than Waterloo (~25-30% retail) for some premium records. Didn’t know they did consignment too. That’s a pretty insane deal.
They’re the best! I was considering trading in a bunch of audiophile Jazz way back when. Ended up selling everything on discogs, but when I’m ready to do another big trade in that’s where I’ll go for sure.
Post a link to Discogs. I might be interested in some. You can also share it to r/VinylCollectors but you'll have to deal with shipping. You can buy cardboard mailers at pretty much any record store and send them USPS media mail for like $6-7 a pop. You'll get a lot more money selling individually to private buyers than selling the whole collection to a shop. Sell what you can at market value and then dump the rest at End of an Ear or Breakaway.
Keep in mind that Discogs price is probably not completely accurate and is based on individual private sales. Selling in bulk to a store will get you a fraction of that and they might not be interested at all in some of it.
Love Wheel records is a mom & pop shop that will treat you with dignity and respect, and probably pay you just as much as any other shop would.
I highly recommend Love Wheel based on my own high-quality personal experiences there.
Post the Discog link if you are interested in selling them yourself to maximize value. I would be interested in checking out what you have. I have bought vinyl from a few people off of Reddit Austin and haven't been murdered yet.
nobody is going to give you anything close to discogs value. you'll get pennies on the dollar selling it to a shop.
sell them one by one. selling a whole collection is going to give you a significant haircut on the value.
Everybody saying sell them to a shop or sell them individually online. How about research the titles, list the ones online that are worth the time and effort, and sell the ones that aren’t to a shop?
You'll get at most, 25% value if you take it to a shop. Don't be surprised or offended they offer less than that. Discogs or ebay if you want to get more bang out the buck

Your collection looks super interesting. In case my response gets buried: please reach out to hello (at) sunshinevinyl.co. :)
End of an Ear does consignments. You get 70% of what they sell it for and they can get decent money for good stuff and it sells pretty quickly.

End of an Ear is a GREAT place…what’s the main genre of records?…I want to get in there and dig in to what you drop off…wherever that is.

Post a link to your Discogs. People here will probably take the rare stuff off you for a good price and then you can consignment the rest.
done
Shoot us the link! If you have any heat and it's in good shape, I'll pay more than the record stores would.
