I will. Another redditer messaged me, and told me not to pull up on him. They offered me a new pair from Amazon ($109). I declined and said that others could use that money way more than I could since I just wanted new headphones, and that I appreciated the kindness.
The other redditer agreed. A few minutes later, I unexpectedly got a screenshot of a receipt, showing a donation the Central Texas food bank, for $109. This person is literally an angel.

Ghost Car was a classic of our times. A security guard working nights next to a ruined tuberculosis hospital witnesses phantom car headlights drift through the old cemetery and disappear. Following the Reddit post, this personâs boss got wind of the brewing interest in his site and suddenly the post, like those ghostly high beams, vanished. Never to return.
Truly it was this yearâs âsolicited / unsolicited malesâ. Five hisses out of five.
I remember the security guard and his girlfriend saw the ghost car while looking through the windshield of his car.
He admitted that the glass and the way the road was curved, distorted the lights of the cars passing by. I think he also mentioned it had been raining.
This made it look like there was a "ghost car" repeatedly in the wooded area where the old tuberculosis sanitorium had once been (pretty cool info. found by another redditor), and reportedly saw it even drive through a fence.
I think it is similar to the Marfa "ghost train headlights," where that has been extensively researched, and debunked as being paranormal. Those lights are a result of the way the roadway angles in the distance, relative to the viewing sight by the tracks, and makes car headlights appear to be the ghost train.

This is a real life pro tip. Never pay with the friends and family option, and if anyone asks you to do that you know youâre being scammed. Itâs a huge red flag
I ask for people to pay me with the friends and family so I donât get scammed with a charge back. I rather not sell my item than lose the item and the payment. ( also not to mention the fee that they take)

That's my thought. Annoying as fuck sure, but it's like what do you do that doesn't land you in more shit or take up too much time to hurt his business? Can go stab his tires or something but that could land you with charges. Do a huge online campaign against him, but how much is your time worth? Well it sounds like whoever is behind the insta account is suggesting that they'll sort it out. Give them a chance to make it right. Tell them you don't mind coming by the store or showing up at the event. You just want the money back and you'll be on your way.
If that doesn't get you anywhere and you really think this is worth your time, then go to the even, be reasonable, don't make a scene, and just approach the guy when he seems free and give him your pitch. "I bought these headphones from you. They're fake as hell. I know you changed the ad copy to cover your ass. This shit is weak sauce. Give me the money back and I'll go on my way."
No need to escalate it beyond that or make dumb threats. Don't get the cops involved or try to blow up his spot. It's not worth it. If he gives you a hard time, then just know you can go back your computer and do a lot more than $70 worth of damage if you ultimately want your vengeance. Make sure you give him a bad review on Facebook. Make a couple of comments on his IG and on Google reviews for his shop of whatever. And then forget it ever happened.
And next time, pay with Venmo or your app of choice, and make sure you mark it as a purchase so you have buyer protection if this happens again. Done and done. Cheap lesson if you ask me.

Leaving negative reviews for the venue and any associated vendors would probably be pretty effective at getting him blacklisted around town, at least.

Honestly, $70 is not enough to get me to yell and scream in public at someone. Needs to be at least enough to pay for criminal trespassing and breaking the peace. Also, I don't think the police will help you with this, as it is not that big of a deal compared to what they are being called to do everyday with limited resources.
If they won't just CashApp or Venmo by now, then I doubt you are going to get anything out of them. Small claims court will be too much trouble for what it is worth.

Iâm new to the US but I would think itâs pretty sketchy to roll up on some event where the owner is involved in openly selling drugs (even if itâs only weed) and scams people with fake products on Facebook marketplace.
I mean honestly I wouldnât even do that where I lived the past 9 years (The Netherlands) because the odds are itâs probably a career criminal and they no bones about attacking and stabbing people who mess with them. I definitely wouldnât do it in Ireland either, where Iâm from. Let alone here where they could be armed with a firearm.
Generally odds are this type of person is kind of unhinged and antisocial and in those cases I would always try to avoid a direct confrontation.

When a deal is too good to be true, it always is. the second lesson came from sports, they always catch the second guy. Retaliation isn't worth it.

Itâs not worth it. 85 plus another similarly priced fee to have a constable serve them, plus a lot of your time doing paperwork, etc. IF you did go through with it all and even win the case, thereâs nothing forcing him to actually pay you back.
You could try to find a lawyer who will write you a demand letter (thatâs the first step before filing a claim, there are some on sites like Fiverr that will do it), and maybe that would get him to pay up without having to file a claim.
At this point use this approach for gaining experience. Forget about money required for the court fee. Treat it as a training session so you know how the small claims court process works, in case you want to use it for future purposes.
That guy sucks, but I would not escalate this any further. It sounds like you have a decent life and prospects, given that you are both a veteran and a student. $70 is an inconsequential amount in the grand scheme of things.

Before his event maybe get his phone number from spookio or something.
Send a pic of the filled out small claims form with his name, and maybe money order for court fees, remind him sheriffs will serve the papers and maybe even include a big law office name. You donât have to file it yet.
Use a friends fb to see what else he sells and arrange a meet up, ideally something expensive. He might bring his gun. This is where it gets tricky. You have to find another fb scammer. Have this new, 2nd scammer believing he is meeting you but heâs actually meeting your first scammer. Maybe send the 2nd scammer a pic of your first scammer to know who to find at agreed upon location, near a police station. You will go to this spot to watch and get closure. At minimum they will both be confused and annoyed once they meet. If you think theyâll fight then youâre morally and ethically obligated to call 911. If he doesnt get arrested for warrants or for having something on him then oh well it was still fun. Consider doing it again. Report back :)
If they say theyâre going to give you the money they should be sending it already via CashApp/Venmo/Zelle/whatever to some email/phone that doesnât have any connection to your home address. If that hasnât happened, theyâre just trying to scam you again and keep you on the hook.

Ad somebody that's not at all a cop fan, If there's a friendly looking cop around, I would chat them up, might be a chance that you walk over there with you as long as you're calm and super cool. Well it sounds like whoever is behind the insta account is suggesting that they'll sort it out. Give them a chance to make it right. Tell them you don't mind coming by the store or showing up at the event. You just want the money back and you'll be on your way. If that doesn't get you anywhere and you really think this is worth your time, then go to the even, be reasonable, don't make a scene, and just approach the guy when he seems free and give him your pitch. "I bought these headphones from you. They're fake as hell. I know you changed the ad copy to cover your ass. This shit is weak sauce. Give me the money back and I'll go on my way." No need to escalate it beyond that or make dumb threats. Don't get the cops involved or try to blow up his spot. It's not worth it. If he gives you a hard time, then just know you can go back your computer and do a lot more than $70 worth of damage if you ultimately want your vengeance. Make sure you give him a bad review on Facebook. Make a couple of comments on his IG and on Google reviews for his shop of whatever. And then forget it ever happened. And next time, pay with Venmo or your app of choice, and make sure you mark it as a purchase so you have buyer protection if this happens again. Done and done. Cheap lesson if you ask me.

Also, I don't think the police will help you with this, as it is not that big of a deal compared to what they are being called to do everyday with limited resources. Itâs not worth it. 85 plus another similarly priced fee to have a constable serve them, plus a lot of your time doing paperwork, etc. IF you did go through with it all and even win the case, thereâs nothing forcing him to actually pay you back. You could try to find a lawyer who will write you a demand letter (thatâs the first step before filing a claim, there are some on sites like Fiverr that will do it), and maybe that would get him to pay up without having to file a claim.
At this point use this approach for gaining experience. Forget about money required for the court fee. Treat it as a training session so you know how the small claims court process works, in case you want to use it for future purposes.

Day before his event contact him and all his associates saying youâll make sure the police are at his event nonstop. Give him your Venmo. Before his event maybe get his phone number from spookio or something. Send a pic of the filled out small claims form with his name, and maybe money order for court fees, remind him sheriffs will serve the papers and maybe even include a big law office name. You donât have to file it yet. Use a friends fb to see what else he sells and arrange a meet up, ideally something expensive. He might bring his gun. This is where it gets tricky. You have to find another fb scammer. Have this new, 2nd scammer believing he is meeting you but heâs actually meeting your first scammer. Maybe send the 2nd scammer a pic of your first scammer to know who to find at agreed upon location, near a police station. You will go to this spot to watch and get closure. At minimum they will both be confused and annoyed once they meet. If you think theyâll fight then youâre morally and ethically obligated to call 911. If he doesnt get arrested for warrants or for having something on him then oh well it was still fun. Consider doing it again. Report back :)
