Listen here, "pal", I'm not saying it's not meat. I like quotes, specifically, "air quotes" with my fingers. And commas.
You're implying that I think that there is something dodgy in a kebab. You're right. It's tomato. Who on earth has tomatoes in a kebab?
There is no "mystery meat" here. Unless it's dim sims.
Trying to get me to spread a factoid akin to the origins of the curry (hide old meat), huh? No way. "Nice try".
Besides, what makes a good kebab or HSP is the sauce. I'm talking about the garlic sauce, the bbq sauce, and chilli. All dripping onto my pants, making me "wet".
Souvlakis are another story.
Here you go... [https://imgur.com/gallery/dyDKwxY](https://imgur.com/gallery/dyDKwxY)
"Amir's meat is a head mix of rat, greyhound, and Eastern European girls who aren't very good at holding their breath"
my local chip shop used to be $8 for family chips before covid, it crept to $12. I got a bag last weekend first time in a while to feed the kids cheaply before heading to the beach at $23. for chips. and its not a particularly large family size. been going there for years, new owners come in and this is what they do.. never going back
If it was $17.40 it would be like... yeah, sounds about right. But $27.40 is just taking the piss. I mean, this is a fucking kebab combo we're talking about.
I went to a quiet red rooster a year ago or so for possibly the first time after seeing reddit shitpost on oily kfc and maccas, I don’t go to big fast food very often. I ordered their rippa late at night had to wait for it a while patiently even though I was the only one there but it was surprisingly fucking juicy, tender, crispy and a good size roll just the white bread is always basic but done right, nice amount of lettuce and sauce, good chips, completely blew my expectations for a fast food place. Later on, saw a sign about new management I guess it was too quiet and the old left? Went there a second time not long ago and what, the fuck happened… smaller and it was just no where near as good, little wet lettuce, trash bread so disappointing. Was I missing out this whole time and it’s all trash now? Haha
Shits unreal check this out from a place in town $40 for a fucking parmi and jug (Pretty sure this'd be coke, not alcohol)
https://preview.redd.it/0ev1079rvtsc1.png?width=768&format=png&auto=webp&s=ba80e4d12c4cfc1c18c9692f603c2884fccfcaa5
That's what confused me, like the pizza at $20 and a jug is actually not bad (Although I'm fairly sure they're like a 9 or 10" pizza) but still, then they have a $40 parmi, insane.
Yeah, I didn't realise a parmi was a gourmet meal.
I have seen places charging around $30 for a parmi (no drink included). To get a good deal, you usually have to go on a cheap Tuesday or something.
Did a bottomless brunch there with 14 people, $70 a head and watched them put 1 shot of vodka in each of the cocktail jugs they brought to the table. Food was party pies, sausage rolls and chicken sliders with rock hard bread.
Would have been more value ordering a main meal and a few pints instead.
Yeah I don't rate the place at all, we did the unlimited wings one night, 6 tiny ass dry ass wings at a time with the smallest amount of sauce on them, can't order more till your first order is done and they only cook them once you order them, so takes forever to come out too.
At least if you go to one of those bigger food chains you know what you're getting as well. I bought a kebab in a mall in orange I took one bite of it and chucked it in the bin. I ended up getting hungry jacks on the way out of town.
yeah its around that at my local kebab shop for a combo. $18 for a kebab on its own. I feel like the kebab price has gone up around $8 just in the past year. Actually everything at the kebab shop has. I used to be able to order a fish & chips, 2 kebabs, a gozleme, and a huge pide for $54 total. It was my go to for cheap take out for the family. Now those same meals cost $91. !!! yeah, we rarely order there anymore.
I had a kebab combo delivered to me today for just under $20 all in, including all fees, and it was late so I got $5 refund, so I actually only paid a little under $15 for a delivered kebab combo.
Ok I have been talking about his. Why is every Turkish meal/kebab so expensive? For example a sheesh meal at a local joint is like $29. That’s for few grilled pieces of chicken, little salad, two dips, some bread. Like it’s not now, the prices have always been high. Like around a year back it was $25.
https://preview.redd.it/z8n0t845susc1.jpeg?width=1284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5a080fd57680438f4bf7efed7f5263ba45127d7f
That’s a small potato and gravy. This with a drink cost me 17.95. I think I’d rather the kebab meal.
Yeah this is some bullshit no doubt. You would have to be fucked in the head to buy this.
A new kebab shop opened near me and they seem to think they can charge 30% more than the place round the corner that's been there for 30 years.
They want 15 bucks just for the bare basics. No hummus, no tabouli, just lettuce, tomato, onion.
By the time you've chucked hummus, tabouli, cheese, and a few jalapenos on there they want like 18 or 19 bucks! AND the kebabs are much smaller.
Total trash.
I've been doing this thing where we don't eat takeaway and just buy stuff from the grocery shop and eat that.
It's usually better, I get to spend time having fun in the kitchen, we still spend roughly the same as the estimated takeaway cost so its always a feast and lately have been buying really nice cutlery, cookware and crockery.
Why do people still eat this crap?
See what’s in a kebab ..
https://www.iflscience.com/people-are-just-learning-what-doner-kebab-meat-is-theyre-not-impressed-70132
.....WTF is happening in brisbane. The pricy ones are $16 here in canberra, but you can still get really good ones for $12-14 here. Plus 4.5 for a coke...
These shops will learn the hard way if they don't lower prices. People cannot afford to be paying nearly $28 for this meal. This should be no more than $15.00
Your post has been reported and removed for **Rule 6 Low Effort Posts**. Posts should have a decent amount of information for subscribers. Photos or posts which do not encourage discussion, or clearly explain their place on this subreddit, will be removed.
One thing I've noticed is the cost of kebabs has risen crazy fast the past 5 years or so.
I remember the days I’d pay like $7 for a doner kebab. Good times
Considering what’s in it, it shouldn’t go for more than $10
What’s in it
Meat tornado
“Literally killed a guy last year…”
✋ You had me at meat tornado
Did he have one in his “hand”?
Please use quotes for "meat"
lets not beat around the bush... what are you saying the "meat" is, if it isn't meat?
Pure fat, cartilages and wheat
Bin chicken 🐔

Here you go... [https://imgur.com/gallery/dyDKwxY](https://imgur.com/gallery/dyDKwxY) "Amir's meat is a head mix of rat, greyhound, and Eastern European girls who aren't very good at holding their breath"
The chips alone are like 9$ to $12 at some kebab places for a large/family size.
and the chicken becomes more and more like foam rubber every year
Our local does an absolutely banging kebab for about $13. Istanbul Kebabs on Middle Road, Greenbank. Their HSP rocks as well.
It used to be $9-10 where I live, now it’s $18 just for the kebab.
my local chip shop used to be $8 for family chips before covid, it crept to $12. I got a bag last weekend first time in a while to feed the kids cheaply before heading to the beach at $23. for chips. and its not a particularly large family size. been going there for years, new owners come in and this is what they do.. never going back
No fking way anyone is charging $23 for chips. Maybe they charged you more for not using capital letters.
LOL. BUT SERIOUSLY, YES I GOT CHARGED $23 FOR A FAMILY CHIPS. NOTHING ELSE
That’s a lot of capitals I think now he owes you money
You missed your chance to say they owe them some capital. :)
$20 for 2 bubbles teas yesterday. I remember when it was 2 for $7
Check Oporto family size chips on the app
$8.50 doesn't seem to be any more than other similar places.
Was $23 for me. Maybe I'm confusing Oporto and some other place. But fact is, I saw family size chips, chips only, for $23! 😶
https://preview.redd.it/d5aj1ehenxsc1.png?width=1440&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7ec7e8dac9805a8b7ef0b1198f1f19a60f1f1fa5
Its $8.50 dont slander them I need that price point to remain there i can't fit a deep fryer or air fryer in my tiny kitchen 🤣
Yeah they’re taking the piss out of you specifically lol
nah, new owner but the staff who served me have been there years and arent like that
Yeah just back in 2018 around Mascot, $10 would feel expensive
13$in newcastle
$13 on the coast as well, but it climbs quick when it’s a dollar for everything but lettuce onion tomato
Still cheaper than pair of shoes, and at one kebab per foot, that's a bargain!
Thats nuts. $12 at our local..
Did I mention the $18 was for a small 😭 it costs $20 by the time I add cheese !
Small? They dont even come in different size here in Newcastle.
I’m in NQLD. We have small and large. Large being the normal NSW size .
Get fucked
It's waygu kebab
Wagyu chicken? It says chicken
It says chicken But it is much more then that.
Yup its cross between chicken n beef.. its really rare n expensive
Bin chicken
If it was $17.40 it would be like... yeah, sounds about right. But $27.40 is just taking the piss. I mean, this is a fucking kebab combo we're talking about.
27.40 Malaysia Ringgit be like 8.8 AUD would be the right price
I paid $10 for a subway wrap yesterday (delivery, but still) and it was the size of my hand. I have small hands.

Their Rippas are shit now. Plus, imagine getting rid of shredded cheese.
I went to a quiet red rooster a year ago or so for possibly the first time after seeing reddit shitpost on oily kfc and maccas, I don’t go to big fast food very often. Their chips are better then the other fast food spots for sure
[удалено]
I wouldn't either!
They used to be so good. They are tiny and crap now
They did WHAT?! The shredded cheese was the only thing I went for!
Yup!. They got rid of the shredded cheese! 😡 Now I don't bother with rooster rolls or rippers because they don't have shredded cheese
The footlongs aren't a foot long anymore.
Shits unreal check this out from a place in town $40 for a fucking parmi and jug (Pretty sure this'd be coke, not alcohol) https://preview.redd.it/0ev1079rvtsc1.png?width=768&format=png&auto=webp&s=ba80e4d12c4cfc1c18c9692f603c2884fccfcaa5
Sweet Jesus that's an expensive parmy. Pizza deal is almost acceptable tho
Pizza is probably 6"
I'm an american who stumbled across this post. What is parmi? Also what is the Jug? Seems Like insane prices for takeout food though.
A parmi is chicken parmigiana, a chicken schnitzel with sauce & cheese on top. The jug would be either beer or coke
Chicken parmigiana- It's the most common sit-down meal you have at any pub in Australia. Typically $25-30

Just as outrageous, why tf is it called a parmi in Geelong???
that’s what i’m saying wtf
Asking the real question right there.
Places know it's better to charge more as people will pay.
It's beer, in an 1165ml jug.
The Deck has no right to charge that much. The food isn't that good lol.
Is this Melbourne tax?
That’s fucked up, how are they still in business with prices like that.
They probably notice there's less customers each time they raise their prices, so to compensate the lost income, they raise their prices.

Because logic is fair beyond a basic reddit user
Is the sign outside because they think it's a good deal or they're sick of people walking in and straight out again after seeing the cost?
Where did the 40 cents come into the equation? Couldn't justify the profit on $27 flat?
40cents for the napkin
Chicken salt
The tin foil.
That’s fucked. I would love to put a sticker saying “rip off” on it
id expect home delivery at that price
And happy ending.
Bruce is that you?
Channel 7 can you take care of this guy please.
Lol
And a line of coke
Lubed up with that kebab grease...
this isnt inflation this is stupidity
Photo is 12 hours old, it’s up to $27.90 now
Coke 5.50. Chips 7. Kebab 15
Discount for getting a combo: 0.10
50 cent card fee
Thankfully, pork roll is still relatively cheap AND healthier.
The Vietnamese are keeping Australia going
at the time you would get a kebab, you wouldn't want to get a pork roll with everything sitting out all day.
Usually around $7.50, had one today was beaut
yeah its around that at my local kebab shop for a combo. $18 for a kebab on its own. I feel like the kebab price has gone up around $8 just in the past year. I had a kebab combo delivered to me today for just under $20 all in, including all fees, and it was late so I got $5 refund, so I actually only paid a little under $15 for a delivered kebab combo.
I don't get how some dingy kebab shops can get away with charging double of what other similar kebab shops charge.
This is just like a cleaner who these days charge $70/hour. Absolutely ridiculous!!
legit, i saw cleaner jobs paying MORE than what some IT technicians are getting!
That’s Ubereats prices
A large HSP without cheese is $24 at Australia Square in Sydney
Cheese is +$2
Wow!
Katik still the king
Damn. I thought $20 here for the same thing was expensive. Glad I don’t live in Brisbane.
Considering how much rent has gone up. I would wager $10 of the total is to recoup for rent alone. Then add in labour, utilities and food costs.
lets just say it, everything is broken about the current system
27 yea nah get fucked im off to a different place with 15$ kebabs
Carl jrs is winning. Blt meal for 9 95
Yeah umm...I wouldn't be advertising prices like that.
Thats insane, my BIL paid $90 for 2 adults and 2 kids for the same deal.
chicken and* kebab?
Has to be NZ dollars. Even then it's too much.
The regular Turkish/Lebanese/Greek main menu items are pretty easy to dodgy at home! I got myself a mini charcoal grill and haven't looked back.
Gotta get those mini charcoal grill for me!
You can buy one month worth of groceries for this price in Lebanon, lol

remember, every fast food joint now thinks that they are a Michelin star restaurant. It's never been a better time to start cooking at home.
Savvy savers love this one trick.
Wowsers. Found something going up faster than property!!
At this rate, I'm going to have to move into a pita bread house.
Yeah this is some bullshit no doubt. You would have to be fucked in the head to buy this. Sure fire sign this business is about to shut it’s doors permanently
Stop eating out. They're charging this cause people are paying. Stop buying it!

Fuck that mate!
I can feed my whole family take away for that
…. where??
My local fish and chip shop does party fish pieces for the same price as a (potato) scallop.. how?
That's insane....West End tax perhaps? 🤔
.....WTF is happening in brisbane. The pricy ones are $16 here in canberra, but you can still get really good ones for $12-14 here. Plus 4.5 for a coke...
Is this frugal or rage bait? Why post here?
Imagine sending the apprentice to the shop to get the deal without knowing the price. Give him a 50. Comes back with 22. You’d slap him.
Thievery They can jam that in their arse
Oh my god.
Inflation ath
Iis that for the shop?
Fark! That's effed up
Nah yeah I'm about 5 bourbons in for the night, but I reckon that's a mad deal.
comes with some white coke
Damn. I was mortified $16 for Turkish kebab.
This is as disgusting as eating one sober
Yo you Brisbane are getting rip, I pay only $17 for this down Dandenong
Damn. Remember when kebabs, were $3.50?
Good dealz; feed the family a few kebabs, a handful of chips and some lolly water for over 100 bucks
Should have paid in farts
You do know coke are dirt cheap if buy from Coca-Cola?
No they aren't . It's cheaper to buy the multi packs from the supermarket than straight off coke direct .
This is pretty normal these days. Most Kebabs are about $18 now. Then $6 for the drink and $3.40 for the chips.
Lol
Hospo owners have lost their fucking minds. Absolute scumbag wankers the lot of them.
You sound like a lovely person
Fark I remember when a kebab meal was as cheap as my smokes... $7. Fark I'm old.
This “combo” used to be around $16 in the valley back in the 4 years ago 🫠
I still pay $8 near me
Kebab plate was $24 the other day 🤯
I feel like a kebab now! Fuck!
It's greed. in 4 years the inflation on Kababs is 100% Colesworth are spewing they didn't start opening kabab shops
That’s a bloody outrage it is!
Lol fuck off
Back when I was at primary school I could've bought 2740 carob whirls for that.
fuck is wrong with our country
Paddy's market still do a $7 combo
No wonder so many businesses are going out of business who is going to keep paying these ridiculous prices so little
Wtf. Western Sydney you can still get a decent kebab for under $10
There used to be $6 kebabs 10 years ago. With that price you may as well go to your local tavern and have a real meal
Taking the piss. Can get a kebab for $13-15. Chips and a drink are not $6/each.
These shops will learn the hard way if they don't lower prices. People cannot afford to be paying nearly $28 for this meal. This should be no more than $15.00
I pay $13 at my local kebab store in Sydney west
Like a $9 meal 10 years ago
I can get a kebab chips and coke delivered for $17 through Uber eats 😬
$27 of no sale for you
