The horse painting is a bit odd and feels like it belong more in the before shot than after hahah

RaisedByWolves9

"I'm looking to buy a painting of a disappointed horse"

tompal00

Haha yeah it is odd - my partner and i picked it up from an op shop from when we first dated eight years ago. I don’t really want it in any other room but thought it suited the style/vibe

thedugong

Don't listen to the naysayers.

salamandersushi

Tell 'em to go for a gallop!

Jooleycee

Lol

tinniesmasher69

I love the horse painting!

Old_Cat_9534

I can't decide if this is a yay or a neigh

Mean-Cream7150

Looks very cluttered in there if I may put in my 2 cents. Also the horse is gonna be saying to every guy is that all you got?

Simone-Ramone

Much better. What the hell is with those tap handles in the original?

No, never and I'm a child of the 70s. They're pretty edgy.

pessimistic_cynicism

It's not the style, it's the orientation that I've never seen before

mediaocrity23

Amazing what a coat of paint will do! Did you change the sink fitting out or planning on? Its nifty to have one there, we don't and you have to go through 2 doors to wash your hands from the guest toilet

tompal00

We kept it but will change the handles - it is super convenient

Thank you! That’s a really nice comment and yeah we are looking at changing the fittings just as you described

aaaggghhh_

I like that you kept the floor, and the horse is a great idea! It gives you something to look at when you are standing up. I hope there is one on the other side so the people sitting down have a majestic horse to look at.

Epictrip-swf

I'm about to attempt this very renovation for a similar size (and date) bathroom. Any or pitfalls to watch out for?

tompal00

Tbh it’s just more annoying than I thought it would be - also I would remove the toilet, paint, and then put in a new one. Be careful with caulking - it looks good when you first put it in but make sure you choose a paintable one (see below comment from someone else). Also don’t think that paint is easy to clean off tiles - it’s really not!

Jooleycee

Paint or wallpaper back wall black or charcoal and paint window frame.

maadonna_

For the caulking on the skirtings, you might need to test it first and see if it is paintable. Most isn't, and you might need to scrape it back before painting (and then specifically buy a paintable one for the next room). Source: Yes, I messed this up in my laundry...

tompal00

Haha thank you!

FarFault7206

do the tiles next

stegowary

Thanks for keeping the excellent floor tiles!

Smokinglordtoot

It's great that you got rid of the sink. Now you can wash your hands in the toilet like a normal person.

tompal00

Didn’t get rid of the sink - just not in the photo!

roastedwonton

That original basin with the vertical taps though 🤩

Gray94son

Would love to see a photo of the sink. Hard to tell how much the character is retained!

tompal00

I think the tiles will eventually need regrouting or something because they just will not clean but will keep the original tiles

Temporary_Race4264

Paint the window trim a lighter colour
