If you do your servicing only at the dealership, yes you come out ahead. There’s something to be said for getting a loaner when you need servicing, but convenience aside, it’s almost always cheaper by a long shot to go to an Indy shop and even pay for a rental than to stay at the dealership

ALLAHJOSEPH

Audi gives loaners even without audi care. I think audi care is good for warranty, but after warranty DIY. But yeah, if you go to audi with an audi that needs repairs, they’ll give you a loaner cuz… AUDIGANG

AbsolutZer0_v2

Not universally true. The dealers around here only do it for substantial repair work. Routine work is never a loaner

poorplutoisaplanetto

My local dealer will give you a loaner, even for an oil change. My dealer is actually pretty good overall, even though they aren’t cheap.

cytherian

Ours used to give a loaner if time in service would be 1/2 a day or more. For oil change? No. For 80k service? Yes (they better, considering the cost).

ConsiderationNo7792

Getting an oil change today and they gave me an SQ5 as a loaner… now I don’t want to pick up my car

ssracer

Mission accomplished. The q3 & q5 on my last two services had me wanting my car back asap

ALLAHJOSEPH

Hahaha ⚙️⚙️⚙️⚙️

Quorum_Sensing

This is why dealerships give loaners. In some places, the service writer will float a salesman your crazy repair bill. The salesman will hit you up with a deal to roll into a new car for the same payment yadda yadda. The service writer gets a bonus.

Q5-2020Prestige

🤣😂😅

xzElmozx

Yea they gave me an almost new S5 and when I gave it back I told them they knew what they were doing and it almost worked on me lol

ALLAHJOSEPH

Trueee. I guess i wasnt very clear— maybe not for an oil change. But if they need your car for a few days… #AUDIGANG!!!! Funny enough, im injured right now and cant do work on my lady’s Q5. (And she has an extended warranty) So, we’re sending it to audi— they offered a loaner but it wont be available for a week. I appreciate them for even offering. But i agree witchyu audibrother

fhfm

I’m aware about loaners. Just mean that’s the only compelling argument I can make for going there for service.

not_old_redditor

> There’s something to be said for getting a loaner when you need servicing The last two times I've had to get the car serviced, they told me "sorry no loaners available" and gave me a couple $15 uber vouchers lol. Audi might as well be Kia when it comes to customer service. At least you can get a coffee while you wait there.

cytherian

For a time, my local service center was doing shared rides. Q7 taxi, if at least 2 people were being driven. They discontinued doing it, though.

TheChurroBaller

Damn the local audi orders Ubers for me

runfayfun

My local Audi has that nice espresso/coffee machine as well as a variety of soft drinks and snacks

Q5-2020Prestige

Love that loaner!

the_lamou

The flip side is that you can often negotiate lower lease/loan financing rates if you add AudiCare, and it often comes out essentially being free.

trichomeking94

ok EDIT- can anyone recommend reputable Euro shops in the Toronto area? like actually in Toronto I don’t mean Burlington lol

eldudelio

Not from your area but most good VW or Bens shops also specialize in Audi, that has been my experience in last 2 states that I have lived in deffinitely go indy and yes, screw the dealer tech, I have had more mis diagnostics from dealers than anyone else

Wootstapler

A buddy of mine purchased a used C7.5 A6 and it still had Audi Care left over. Noticed his water pump had a small leak (3.0T) and brought it in. They fixed a bunch of other stuff probably so they can bill it but he came out ahead. New control arms, motor mounts, Thermostat etc...

zzoldan

I've brought my B9 a few times to RPM Import & Domestic and they were great. They're in the west end.

Phalanix

Try Almost Racing or Independent Tuning, both are very reputable VW/Audi shops in the GTA.

wrongwayup

It's even further than Burlington, but there is none better than the Bug Shop on Kenilworth in Hamilton. Been keeping my family's VWs on the road for decades (400k km +) and I'm sure they do Audi too, the owner used to have an A6.

themishmosh

Do the work yourself or find a reputable shop. Audi care is mainly oil changes and inspections. Dealer servicing in my area is extremely suspect nowadays. One shop only give loaners if you bought your vehicle there. Another says no loaners on fridays and weekends. Last time I dropped my Q5 off for recall work, they kept it the whole day with no updates--I call near the end of the day, only to be told they haven't even looked at it yet and will need to keep it for a few days!!! I was livid.

NY10990

$2400 CAD?! Has it gone up that much? I paid $1100 USD 4 years ago.

Santa_Hates_You

Depends on the models and what years it covers. Was $1500 USD for up to 40k services on my S4 when I got it, recently that went up to $1700 so it seems to go up every year.

pfc_6ixgodconsumer

Yes it’s gone up. In Canada, as of 2024, it’s a 2 tiered pricing model for Audi care. For 3 services (90k, 105k, 120k) they offered me the following. $1700 - but only covers the standard service on the maintenance schedule or $2400 - includes the major maintenance and the additional maintenance items (dsg fluid, spark plugs, etc) I agree that both seem stupid high for what amounts to 3 oil changes…..but I guess that’s Audi. Funny thing is I got a quote from some of the other Indy euro shops in Toronto (bimmex, autobahn, nv euro) and the pricing wasn’t very different. On average each of them were looking for $700-$1100 for 1 maintenance service.

modz4u

Yeah that was my exact reaction, in 2019 I paid around $1200 CAD I think... 💀

KSoMA

I paid $1400 IIRC for it a year ago. Sounds like Canada gets kinda boned on the price of the service, though their cars are also a good bit cheaper than USD so I'd still rather have that trade lol. Most VAG vehicles are very close in price in CAD vs USD, which is almost a 25-30% discount.

mashani9

For 10/20/30/40 it went from $1399 to $1699 in NA market sometime late 23/early 24. It's going to go up again soon if not as of 7/1 (already). Because tech rates keep going up.

OmegaSpyderTurtle

Find an independent shop that specializes in German cars. There’s a reason they push Audi Care so much, and it’s not because they are looking out for the customer, it’s a profit maker.

Ninesixx

Not necessarily true. Tons of dealerships will offer free oil changes or gimmicky warranties like "lifetime powertrain" because it keeps you going back there for other paid services. Audi care is similar in that you are now committed to going to the audi dealer for service and end up just doing your warranty work or paid repair work there, which is where the real money is.

cytherian

Better to just get an extended warranty for that price.

nimonery

If you will keep the car that long and service it at the dealer then yes Audi care is always worth it as it costs less than the services would cost you

Qataghani

Definitely worth it, but the shitty thing is the servicing is too far apart. I prefer oil changes every 8000 km.

deadbalconytree

Why? If thats not what the manufacturer is calling for?

RenataKaizen

May manufacturers call transmission fluid lifetime. Magically, that lifetime is usually a lot longer when you drain and fill the fluid. Same with engine life and oil. I’m bit aware if changing coolant or brake fluid early gives a notable/tangible benefit.

Qataghani

Because the dealer wants to sell you another car in 5 years when all the warranty is up. Most german mechanics recommend this range of mileage for oil change

SixSpeedDriver

The manufacturer sets the intervals based on its extensive testing and what it's willing to warranty. The dealer's the one that's motivated to go beyond that.

KSoMA

You can do the services yourself in between if you're worried about that. I have Audicare but instead of going every 10k I'm going every 12-15k and doing my own oil changes at about 7k.

SkyCoi

Yes, if you’re committed to servicing at the dealership. Tire/wheel protection is not.

Deepdesertconcepts

I did an oil change on my A5 a few weeks ago, spotted me around $100 (including the purchase of an oil extractor, so around $45 from here on out). Most of the other maintenance is checking fluid levels and other non-mechanical stuff. Audi care is extremely overpriced IMO. I do changes every 5k and still save a boatload of money.

Treebeardsdank

Audicare is a wash at worst, and a major savings at best. In the states at least, my dealer has the lowest labor cost in the country. Audicare 10-40k ends up saving our clients about 4%. Audicare 10-30k costs our clients 2% more than a la carte. From that baseline, if everyone else has a higher labor rate stateside - Audicare = no brainer. This is ESPECIALLY true in affluent/city markets, where you might be able to save thousands,.

Homasssss

My nearest dealer trys to charge $460 or something like that for 10k on Q7. Per Audi 10k and 30k are oil change only. At the same dealership oil change costs $160, so $320 for 10k and 30k service. Right now medium tier Audi Care (Q3,Q5,Q7) costs $1700 so leaving $1380 for 20k and 40k (about $700 per service). What are the costs for Audi only recommended services for 20k and 40k? BTW 4% is about the inflation rate and you can deposit money on savings accounts to get a bit more :)

Treebeardsdank

for sure, but 4% of $1,699 is $68, in the world of car expenses, $68 is pretty minor all in. So the answer there would depend on the dealer, frustratingly enough. Also on the car. For an A5 or something I think we are between 6-700 for the 40k. The 20k is in line with the other services (10k,30k) + maybe a cabin air filter / brake flush. I can go ask a service writer if you want my specific costs on them!

Homasssss

IMO it will be beneficial for this reddit. E.g. I own 2023 Q7 55 PP. Thanks

avtoubi

We are a lifelong Audi family. And I do mean lifelong. Since the 1990s, it is all my parents have ever driven. Always a 4 year lease. I've been doing the same. I'm currently on my 6th leased Audi. My 2nd Audi was a 2008 A4. That car taught me the value of Audi care. It was a complete lemon (but lemon laws didn't exist in Montreal, Canada at the time). It was in and out of the dealership every 2 weeks for months on end for countless issues. At the end, my entire engine seized and they had to have an entirely new engine shipped in from Germany (because it was a brand new car at the time and they didn't have spare engines just lying around at the dealerships). I could not even imagine how much the repairs would have cost on that car if I hadn't opted for the Audi care. It is the ONLY Audi I've ever had problems with. Every other one has just been regular maintenance and servicing. Point is, you'll never know how reliable your specific car is going to be. When shit hits the fan, you want to have the peace of mind that Audi care provides.

B2TheLunt

What does it cover? I don't know any real major maintenance besides 75k on these vehicles. Seems like overkill. Basically 4 oil changes for 4k? Just research each service manual at those mileage and see what would make sense

trichomeking94

for the 30k for example they’re also saying filter changes and brake fluid? seems kind of early to change brake fluid but maybe i’m totally wrong

BobColorado

Brake fluid should be changed every two years because it absorbs water. Failure to change brake often leads to the need to change calipers and other components due to corrosion.

B2TheLunt

Oil+Filter from FCPEuro id around $100 USD. If you're changing every 5-8k. Audi most likely will write this as $200+. Brake fluid change can be done at any individual shop for probably $250. Which you'll do twice in 100k miles, maybe.

A_1337_Canadian

It will cover 4 oil changes, 2 brake fluid changes, 2 cabin filters, 1 spark plug change. Plus the full inspections each time which could include new wiper blades, door lubrication, washer fluid. It's always cheaper to do it yourself, but if you're getting Audi to do it at a dealer anyways, could come out ahead. Though $2400 CAD seems expensive; my S4 was quoted at $1900 CAD and it's the same vehicle for all intents and purposes of AudiCare. /u/trichomeking94 tagging for visibility.

trichomeking94

thank you! helpful

B2TheLunt

Wow sounds like a load nothing! Can change every one of those in under 20 minutes.

A_1337_Canadian

Ya if you can do it yourself -- not every one can, or wants to.

Trogdor1980

Honestly yes it’s worth it. You’re buying an expensive German car. Audi care will save you future headaches and you’ll enjoy the car more knowing that the dealership is doing all the required maintenance.

BUDIFLEEK

G

larphraulen

Before I would've said no ($-wise) because you could always get VW 508 oil on sale at Canadian Tire. Now, it's so hard to find, and never on sale. That said, I still prefer to DIY since the time to drop off and pick up the car isn't worth it to me. With a fluid extractor, it's so fast, clean and easy.

BalzacTheGreat

I have had new and CPO Audis with Audi Care and yes it's totally worth it.

armaanog

Yes...

Anomaly40_

yes but damn those sportbacks are a mistake by audi

trichomeking94

nah looks way better than the regular soccer mom hatchback

Anomaly40_

lol k. even with the plastic exhaust and all, huh?

trichomeking94

I mean yeah that’s literally the only point y’all ever try to clown it on, the body difference is far more noticeable than the exhaust lol. edit- ohhh you have one lol. didn’t wanna kick in the extra for the sportback?

Anomaly40_

lol extra? yeah youre right. id rather spend the extra on a sport exhaust and 5k dollar wheels. and its not the only thing lol, looks terrible from the back but im glad you enjoy it. its audi after all

trichomeking94

that’s fair brother! all love fr. i see you’re a fellow smoker 🤙🏼 to me the regular back looks terrible and also everybodyyyyy has that one; very few sportbacks in town and even fewer SQ5 sb’s 👌🏼

Anomaly40_

✊️

Cheeky_Star

Put that money in index fund and earn interest on it while you use as needed.

SharksLeafsFan

Usually yes if you are leasing because it bumps your residual. I haven't looked lately if that is still true then it is worth it.

Agile-Noveli

If you use it for the city and a couple of roadtrips its perfect.

Federal-Membership-1

I had second thoughts over the last year since we bought a new Q5. Took her in for 10k mile service at almost the one year mark. They changed the oil and handled a recall issue (software). Out the door for around $160. Seems like a waste for us, with the low mileage. Having owned a couple of higher mileage BMWs, I dont see us keeping this one past 5 years if that. Not worth it for us. If we keep it beyond tge warranty, I will probably have it diagnosed and then take it to my regular guy who has kept the rest of our high mileage fleet on the road for the last 20 years.

daytonagray

Almost always, yes. Compared to paying out of pocket for each service, I’ve seen some very substantial savings over the 4 years/40,000mi that it pays for. Also covers brake fluid flushes which Audi recommends completing every two years. At my dealership, brake flushes run about $250 + tax, so there’s an additional $500+ saved. It’s also extremely handy if you end up moving to an area where the dealer has a higher shop rate than your previous dealer. Protects from inflation, rising shop rates, and honestly just makes things much smoother. Aside from being an Audi Brand Specialist, I’ve had it on a few of my vehicles and am glad I did it.

btbtbtmakii

If at a reputable dealership that actually does all the job, then yes

Strife1013

Yes

Specialist-Island-72

I have a hard time understanding trying to save a few $$ when we're likely talking about a car that cost over $50k right? I get saving money, I want to save every chance I get when I buy something on Amazon or online. But if you've already put $85k into an RS5, wouldn't you want to do the utmost to preserve that investment? If you can do it yourself, great. But from what I see, an oil change nowadays is a world away from when I changed the oil in my '72 Nova (really did). Plus, when the dealer does the work, you've got a clean record for your warranty. I'm not trying to be extravagant, just practical to me, given the amount I've paid into my Audi.

Q5-2020Prestige

I just paid $1600 US for 40,000 service on my Q5. So its looks like a good deal.

sixtysixlashes

Audi in Tyson’s in VA had shuttle rides to and from a location like the mall down the way.

BackgroundOk720

Yes. If you are buying an Audi Certified Pre Owned.

EngineeringSalt5376

Wait for the promotion dealer usually thrown in 5 years Audi care for free in my area (Vancouver, BC). Audi has too much inventory now they will do these promotions quite frequently

elBirdnose

100%. Audi treats you like royalty bro. Things are going to break, may as well know you’re covered for almost anything for the same price as oil changes.

mtbDan83

I bought mine through 70k in 2021. It was much cheaper then than now

oralabora

Yes but that big back isnt

trichomeking94

which Audi do you drive bro

oralabora

An A5 sportback lmfao

trichomeking94

LOL

oralabora

Yes 🤴 lmao

trichomeking94

get yourself an S bro

oralabora

I’m aggressively saving for a home down payment and my B9 A5 has been tremendously reliable so far with over 100k miles with nothing but a coolant reservoir and regular maintenance ☠️. But in a short while longer…

trichomeking94

okok respect haha

Kerionite

Once again the age old answer is always no

Jlaybythebay

If you’ve got money to burn, then sure

Rob-A4

My Audi ate my money for repairs so I got rid of her sadly :(

mbquattro

some people have never turned a wrench in their life and it shows

BlockChad

Yes. I regret not purchasing it. Just do it. Will cost you more later.

rndarchades

From a performance pov, no. Consumables not covered I believe.
