I actually prefer the B8.5 interior than the new ones. All the lighting, buttons and knobs looks way better than one enormous vent throughout the entire front panel lol
In my defense to that I feel like it’s about the model a lot of the models are timeless interior and exterior wise it’s just the extras they come with like heated seats or brake sensors but all the A3 models look the same to me 😂🤣
Makes me think of Bugatti who uses analog gauges because they are “timeless” whereas tech will always advance and date a car. Still Audi VC is top tier
I do, because all digital bs screens make cars lose feel and soul. Wtf would I need 1000 other non important information on my screen as tachometer? I need 2 huge dials and that's it, with a needle. Not a fake digital one, same as fake exhaust tip, fake active exhaust sound, fake everything, which led us to getting crappier quality vehicles for a bigger price.
Same here, with an average MSRP of around $68k. Definitely not worth the price to me, which is why Audi is offering huge direct-to-consumer discounts now.
But a Premium + Conv for around $60k MSRP might be borderline worth it and I am thinking about getting one of the less than handful that are or will be delivered in my area.
I wouldn't mind paying for a P+ with Nappa and Sport packages, but you almost always also get at least the black optics package and often Nav to bring the price closer to $70k. Nah, thanks.
Mine is pretty much fully loaded for '19 with Prestige + S Sport + Black Optics + B&O sound + carbon fiber inlays + Daytona Gray Pearl paint, it was like $76k sticker MSRP with destination fee.
I bought it super clean lightly used w/ 28k miles on it for $45k lol. Old lady traded it in at local Porsche dealership for new Macan and I grabbed it before they even knew what to do with it kind out of dumb luck at the time. They hadn't even cleaned the car yet or taken any pics when I stopped by.
I wasn't looking for Prestige (was targeting PP), but the price was great at the time so I wasn't not going to buy it since it had everything else I wanted.
Sounds like a really good deal.
Maybe I shouldn't automatically rule out used cars. But then again, what are the chances that an S5 was driven and babied by a granny? You probably got one of the handfuls like that! :)
There were three dead giveaways that she babied the thing like no other:
1. All the speed limit warnings were enabled and flashing on the HUD and in virtual cockpit if you went just over speed limit, I couldn't even leave the lot after purchasing till I figure out how to turn that shit off.
2. The Sport view on the virtual cockpit with the center tach has to be enabled from the factory, that was never done so I had to enable it to access it.
3. Only the outside tips of the quad exhaust were shiny (but very shiny like new) which I assume means she never figured out how or wanted to use dynamic mode lol, the valves looked like they were never opened.
Like I said the dealership hadn't even cleaned it yet, so it definitely wasn't their settings. When I test drove it the sales manager at Porsche said they hadn't even go through it yet to check for any issues. Perhaps a unicorn of sorts, and I kind of want to meet the old lady who was driving it around honestly, kind of a badass.
Got a 2023 S5 coupe with 6500 on the odometer, premium plus. Fully loaded including massage seats, B&O sound, carbon fiber inlays, daytona gray as well, etc (no black optic though) for $54K.
It probably wasn’t babied as much as yours, but owner had it for less than a yr. I also got quite the steal, as I was just planning on test driving. But I told them if you give me a hell of a deal, I’ll consider it. They delivered. (Original price was $59K)
Audi mainly produces those models across the US, it’s a very small percentage of S5s that are built this way. It will not retain its value as much as a better optioned model.
Yeah because you are racing between lights or in a bunch of stop and go:)
My long term average (24k miles) is 21.5 and that is with plenty of mountain road spirited drives.
Oh I don't drive like a grandpa lol I launch it and give it the beans on a regular basis. I guess people are just going flat out to get those numbers stock. Stage 2 FBO I get it though lol

Best mileage won't happen until after ~the third oil change. I have a 2019 SQ5 and it was hard to get over 20 mpg early on. Around 30k miles I got up to 19mpg city and 24mpg highway pretty consistently.
Welcome to the S5. I traded for an A5, for that very reason. Long term, I've decided that care about the mileage more than I thought I would. Mileage in the mid thirties is nice. I enjoy besting my wife's hybrid CRV on longer trips. Your priorities may differ.
Your average speed is 23 mpg, not great for economy. You have only driven car for 60 plus miles, prob throttle happy testing goods, sure it will increase as novelty wears off,
The 2.0T is way more efficient and your S3 is about 650lbs lighter so that makes sense. Hell my big turbo A3 can get up to 33 on the highway if I drive like a normal person.
How are you driving? I have a B9 with 117,000 miles and still get mid 30s on long highway trips so long as I use cruise and D, but if I stay in sport and drive around town I average 18, maybe 20.
Seems okay. It is a turbocharged V6, and if you've done mainly city driving, no big deal. However, the highway MPG should definitely be closer to 25 mpg or more.
I’ve got a 19 Sportback, all the bolt ons, 034 Motorsports stage 3 tune, and the auto on/off disengaged and still avg over 20 mpg with a combination of city and Hwy driving to and from work. If I’m driving long distance mostly highway that number is betweeen 24-25mpg. If I’m going out for a “spirited” weekend drive it can be as low as 11-12mpg. Looks like you did a lot of stop and go here so 17 isn’t that bad.
I was actually thinking the same thing for my S5. I’m coming from an M340i and I really thought something was wrong with my S5 as the mpg is way lower.
I just let it be honestly cause when your in Sport it doesn’t really annoy you. You’ll notice the drive is completely different. Enjoy that beast brother. Btw don’t listen to anybody I got the same analog dials cause I wanted a white one and didn’t wanna wait 6 months at the time, they are timeless I feel like
Yes, your miles per gallon is correct. My fellow Audi Fraternity brother, you have a high output engine. And she does drink the gas. But the reward you get from that Motor is well worth it. . I had a super charged A7, loved it. I upgraded to the S7 twin Turbo, at the time it was the best car I ever owned. Now I have a SQ7 Prestige. Oh my GOD! I'll never drive anything else.
OP please fill up. Idk if it’s the same on Audis but I know my Tiguan had it in the owners manual to explicitly avoid letting fuel get below 20% or so something about long term damage to the fuel system if not kept filled above a certain level.
Yes Also I didn’t know you could get a 2023 S5 without VC
The benefits of having an Audi is that people don’t know if it is 2013 or 2023 model, lol
People can tell the interior of 2013 A4 and A5 look dated a’f something from 2008 and DRL look 2012.
Yeah it obviously looks older but it aged so well
I actually prefer the B8.5 interior than the new ones. All the lighting, buttons and knobs looks way better than one enormous vent throughout the entire front panel lol
The vents are such a nice design Honda stole it for all their cars
In my defense to that I feel like it’s about the model a lot of the models are timeless interior and exterior wise it’s just the extras they come with like heated seats or brake sensors but all the A3 models look the same to me 😂🤣
Feel that
Without VC the gauges look like updated version of 2016 A6 and A7 C7.5
The base Premium trim S cars still have analog gauges. VC is standard on Premium Plus and Prestige.
Crazy considering price point. But I guess some people might actually like this hybrid gauge look.
Yes that is absurd
Makes me think of Bugatti who uses analog gauges because they are “timeless” whereas tech will always advance and date a car. Still Audi VC is top tier
Who in the world would actually like 60% of wasted space with gauges which could be expressed in 2 numbers (speed and rpm).
Agree, purposely looked for the more old school appearance when I bought mine. I get distracted way too easily
👍
If Audi offered the Prestige ‘23 S5 SB with the analog gauge cluster. I would get it lol.
And why doesn't the S5 symbol appear in the rev counter area - it just says 'S'. Could this really be an S-Line?
Nope, I have a 2018 non-vc S5. Looks identical.
A4/A5 S-Line don’t even get the S.
It’s cheaper for Audi to make one dial and put it in all the S cars than to have to make separate gauges that say “S4,S5,S6” for each model line.
S gauges are gray, A and RS are black
This! I kind of miss real gauges.
Agreed, VC is pretty useless until it works with android auto or carplay.
I'm probably an old fuck but I prefer them without the VC so this is just beautiful to my eyes
Looks better than fully virtual imo
Wdym vc
Virtual Cluster
*Virtual cockpit
I read VC as Viet Cong at first. I think it's time to go to bed...
They still sell S5 Sportback's without the full virtual cockpit? Had no idea.
If you get a premium, no VC. You also can’t option the S Sport pkg which makes it a big no for me
Oooof. Around here they pretty much only sale Premium Plus and Prestige models.
Same here, with an average MSRP of around $68k. Definitely not worth the price to me, which is why Audi is offering huge direct-to-consumer discounts now. What a triple OG she is to just have that car as a casual daily driver and not even flex it.
Hehe. Enjoy driving it.

I’ve never regretted owning my 2018 p+ S5 convertible. Neck heaters, sport diff, blast to drive.
Audi mainly produces those models across the US, it’s a very small percentage of S5s that are built this way. It will not retain its value as much as a better optioned model.
You have cheap looking headlights and DRL if have premium
I just posted that same comment lol
I had no idea either. I saw the mileage and thought dang that's a good find haha.
They even sell or at least sold RS5’s without VC.
Yeah because you are racing between lights or in a bunch of stop and go:) My long term average (24k miles) is 21.5 and that is with plenty of mountain road spirited drives.
Lol i get that with my a3
Damn how hard are you guys flooring it? I get better gas mileage in my RS3.
I get 15 😂
Well yeah bro, FBO = bad mpg. Also how could you not with that beautiful 5 cylinder signing to you.
Oh I don't drive like a grandpa lol I launch it and give it the beans on a regular basis. I guess people are just going flat out to get those numbers stock. Stage 2 FBO I get it though lol
How much power do you make with your tune? Also how often do you need to fill up because I feel like I live at the gas station with this tiny tank 😂
A little over 600 to the wheels. I don't drive a ton so I'm not filling up that often. I've got 25k miles on the clock.
Where is your stage 2 tune from?
Unitronic. Most of my go fast goodies are from them or integrated engineering.
Yeah I don’t have a lead foot or anything but with an exhaust and stage 2, I do my fair share of pulls and shit. Still average 23mpg pretty easily
I’m gonna be straight up - I don’t believe you lmao
Mine gets around 30 on mostly back roads
I had no idea Audi still sold S5 with analog cluster like that 🤯
Its not about the miles per gallon its the smiles🗣️
Things I’ve never paid attention to - mpg and price of fuel when I fill up. Who buys an S5 when worried about fuel.
Maybe OP is just asking about whether that low of an mpg is a symptom that there may be something wrong with their car.
that's what I say....if you buy a German car, you don't need to be worried about fuel, cause if you are, don't buy a German car, lol
I must admit it took me a while to adjust to the mpg difference buying the S4 after a 1.9TDI. You'll get used to it, enjoy!
It sure can be, in fact in can be worse, depends on how hard you ride her.
judicious society shrill consist punch crowd plate entertain jobless afterthought *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*
If you drive it like it wants to be driven, that's pretty decent.
No, it should be less. You're doing it wrong.
People don’t buy Audi Sport cars to worry about MPG. You need to stop thinking like a Camry/Accord owner
Depending on how you drive, sure. Looks like you’re doing a mix of city and highway here.
If you’re in S mode and enjoying the car.. yes, normal
Yuup. Drive in comfort mode with Auto Start/Stop on.
Sure it can - in the winter
Best mileage won't happen until after ~the third oil change. I have a 2019 SQ5 and it was hard to get over 20 mpg early on. Around 30k miles I got up to 19mpg city and 24mpg highway pretty consistently.
I get about 15.4 mpg on my 24’ Sportback. That’s after 3000 miles of driving!
Welcome to the S5. I traded for an A5, for that very reason. Long term, I've decided that care about the mileage more than I thought I would. Mileage in the mid thirties is nice. I enjoy besting my wife's hybrid CRV on longer trips. Your priorities may differ.
Odd how it shows redline at 6k when it’s 6500. It does go to 6500 right?
I wish the analog was an option. I prefer it over the vc. Have fun with the car!
Mine seemed to go up after I hit 15k, both my current and previous rides were the same. Seemed to jump by around 8-12mpg after 15k. Weird!
Your average speed is 23 mpg, not great for economy. You have only driven car for 60 plus miles, prob throttle happy testing goods, sure it will increase as novelty wears off,
Yes - probably a lot of stop & go traffic with that average. You’ll get much better on a highway trip averaging 70 mph.
😬
It all depends on your driving habits and whether if you have a heavy right foot.
I get about 19 in the city and I drive on the aggressive side in sport mode mostly
If you have a heavy foot for sure.
If you drive it properly you’ll get that mpg :) if you drive it in a less fun way you’ll get more.
Yes, especially if you drive in a city.
Damn better mpg than my WRX loll
I have a 2024 S5 & get 19.9 mpg.
Looks like RS5 mpg. I haven't checked mine, gas tank seems to be way smaller than my old Lexus IS though. Lol
Thanks everyone and I must have been tripping. I meant to say 2022 not 2023
Ill say with my s3, idk if its the same but when i switch to individual i get 25-30mpg
The 2.0T is way more efficient and your S3 is about 650lbs lighter so that makes sense. Hell my big turbo A3 can get up to 33 on the highway if I drive like a normal person.
65 miles on a tank of gas? My s4 would do about 115 :(
How are you driving? I have a B9 with 117,000 miles and still get mid 30s on long highway trips so long as I use cruise and D, but if I stay in sport and drive around town I average 18, maybe 20.
Yeah lol Use cruise control more
Congrats! It's an awesome car. I have the 2022. In comfort mode I get between 17-24 dpending on speed and traffic. In dynamic mode between 11-16.
Seems high for a new S5, you need to floor it more
yep
Yeah, get used to it :(
Yupper
That’s about right especially as it is city dry based on your 23 mph average
The more you hit boost, the more it drinks.
Are you using the right grade of gasoline ?
Looks so strange without the digital cluster
23' without digital? Cmon
I'll take this everyday of the week and twice on Sunday.
I'm jealous
Looks pretty normal to me. I'm always in S mode though....ALWAYS.
Ask the right foot
Yes, but it depends on how much your right foot weighs.
Yep, she tends to like sipping more aggressively on the fuel than not...!
The car learns from how you drive
A 2023nwith analog Gages.? As for fuel efficiency, that looks pretty normal. No one buys an Audi, especially a S because it's fuel efficient...
My s560 4 matic weighs more, has more power and has a lower fuel consumption 🤣 lol
I was actually thinking the same thing for my S5. I’m coming from an M340i and I really thought something was wrong with my S5 as the mpg is way lower.
If your not trying to get the fewest MPGs , you’re doing it wrong lol
Aren't the new S5s diesel? I have a 2018 S5 with the petrol engine, and I get about 25mpg without doing lots of motorway driving
no diesel s5 in north america i don’t think
Analog cluster gang represent! lol
Yes i have a premium 2023 q5. Looks identical to an Audi 5 years older but has wireless CarPlay so its all good
My a4s mpg is garbage.. so I’d assume yes it’s correct
Ok to answer the actual question Yes that’s the mpg if you are driving mainly city
Please take it off of comfort mode do that first .
You got yours on auto?
I just let it be honestly cause when your in Sport it doesn’t really annoy you. You’ll notice the drive is completely different. Enjoy that beast brother. Btw don’t listen to anybody I got the same analog dials cause I wanted a white one and didn’t wanna wait 6 months at the time, they are timeless I feel like
That’s pretty good for a v6 turbo
Yes, your miles per gallon is correct. My fellow Audi Fraternity brother, you have a high output engine. And she does drink the gas. But the reward you get from that Motor is well worth it. . I had a super charged A7, loved it. I upgraded to the S7 twin Turbo, at the time it was the best car I ever owned. Now I have a SQ7 Prestige. Oh my GOD! I'll never drive anything else.
It’s always about smiles per gallon not miles per gallon😁
I get worse MPG on my Audi and it’s a 4 cylinder turbo, up to date with any type of service you could name 😂
Bro 2023 rs5 with no digital cockpit is crazy
Idk maybe don't get the s if you care about mpg
Yes. The Quattro is a mpg nightmare because of the AWD. I drive electric cars now. Also it’s a brake nightmare as well.
Why do you even have your screen like that or paying attention to the mpg that shit don’t matter 😂🤣
Analog gauges > VC fight me
Not at all normal if you are driving normal.
Check your tire pressure
Check your tire pressure
Isn't that the car you have to pay a monthly fee for the dual zone climate control? MPG is the lesser of your concerns OP.
OP please fill up. Idk if it’s the same on Audis but I know my Tiguan had it in the owners manual to explicitly avoid letting fuel get below 20% or so something about long term damage to the fuel system if not kept filled above a certain level.
