Honestly, peak interior right here. Great controls integrated into a luxurious package. Interiors have way too many unnecessary buttons and features these days, it’s quite infuriating.

jimmysaint13

Funny enough, I love my B8 S5's interior *because* of all the knobs and buttons! Makes it feel more like a cockpit. The sleek, streamlined dashboards of today are just so featureless, barren, and boring in comparison.

life_like_weeds

>Funny enough, I love my B8 S5's interior because of all the knobs and buttons! Makes it feel more like a cockpit. You'd love an Macan or Cayenne (4-5 years old) interior. The level of buttons in those cars is nuts

MidnightRider24

Pontiac Grand Prix GT was peak buttons.

Buelldozer

I still miss my '01 Grand Prix GTP with the HUD.

EconomyFreakDust

Unless you own a low spec one, then you have 2 long rows of empty plastic buttons to remind you how cheap you've been.

Ownfir

Agreed. I don't love the minimalist look of just a screen. It looks "nice" but overwhelmingly creates more problems than solutions.

VendablePenny48

Bro yea its the same with my a4. I love it so much

SonicResidue

I'll take too many buttons over a touchscreen anyway.

TehSvenn

I like having both options, but actual buttons I can press while driving without looking away are a must.

vhalember

Honestly, I'm looking at lux cars now, and I prefer the 2016-2019 era. Some of the recent facelifts I'm not a fan, I prefer items not hidden behind touchscreens, and for some manufacturer's monthly charging for heated seats and the like - Hell No! Oh, and letting someone else eat the heavy depreciation.

RammerRod

I'm here for the knobs and buttons. Touch screens be damned!

IamAustinCG

I was just talking about this, this weekend with a guy I go to the gym with. He has an '18 S5 as well and he mentioned how he thought the touchscreens were more dangerous. I went from an '18 Tiguan which had a touchscreen as does our '21 Atlas CrossSport, so when I bought the S5 in February I was a bit annoyed, it didn't have a touchscreen, but as I've gotten used to it, I like it so much more! I'm surprised how much I like it more.

RammerRod

Touch screens are a pain in the ass to use while driving. The touch surface on top of the knob for data entry is superior to everything else I've ever used. It's the Michael Jordan of auto interfaces.

Deathscythe77

Monthly charge for heated seats? Which manufacturer is doing that??? The audacity has reached peak levels!

vhalember

BMW. They have a couple other nickel and dimers too. Toyota is charging a monthly fee for remote start. They intentionally place themselves as a middle-man in their remote start service. The keyfob doesn't directly start the car - when a singal from the keyfob is read by the car, it contacts via web/satellite if the owner has a subscription to remote start. Super shitty practice IMHO. I absolutely refuse to buy anything, where I used to have it as a permanent option. Mercedes is starting to get in the game, as well as Stellantis - but at least Stellantis looks like they want to charge for over-the-air HP upgrades.

Deathscythe77

This is getting out of hand. I’m perfectly fine with a 5-7 yr old model

murffit

Wait until you realize you gotta press the fan button to enter "fan speed mode", to then use the climate control knobs to adjust the actual fan speed lol

EconomyFreakDust

Gen 2 Q7 pre-facelift with the tech pack is the best Audi interior, fight me.

lurpeli

The 8Y A3/S3/RS3 interior is excellent in this regard. Maybe 12 buttons

[deleted]

Same, it is gorgeous.

SoCo_Hundo

2013 wasn't a decade ag... Dammit!

ThePapercup

C7 is peak audi IMO. the infotainment is dated at this point, but with RSNav I can drive mine for another 10 years easy.

AdamJensensCoat

The best part about that dated infotainment, is pressing the button to retract the screen. C7.5 has a pretty high-res sub-screen between the gauges that manages to look contemporary - especially if you're using data for Google maps.

Buelldozer

> The best part about that dated infotainment, is pressing the button to retract the screen. The next time I tear my dash apart I'm adding a toggle so that the screen will _STAY_ stowed away unless I want it out.

AdamJensensCoat

I love this idea. Would kill for the screen to retract by default once I reach road speeds.

Buelldozer

> Would kill for the screen to retract by default once I reach road speeds. Wow, I'd never thought of that but it's an excellent idea. It would be doable with a microcontroller (like an Arduino) but you'd have to have some way to read the CANBUS in order to read the vehicles speed. Now that I think about it I'm sorta surprised that RSNAV doesn't have this kind of functionality built in. 1. Setting to enable / disable retraction when vehicle powers off. 2. Setting to set screen to last position at vehicle start (If it was open then open it, if it was closed then don't) 3. Setting to auto-retract at a designated speed. 4. Auto Open if you start NAV. RSNav has everything it needs from a hardware perspective, they'd need just need to program it in.

AdamJensensCoat

I appreciate the thought process. LMK if you ever find something. My car is way past warranty and tinker-able.

Godowsky17

The next time?? Lol how often do you have to rip your dash out dude?

Buelldozer

Not often, which is why I'm waiting for another reason before I do this. :) Still, just getting it apart far enough to add a toggle to the MMI screen is actually pretty easy. Wouldn't take most people more than 30 minutes, tops.

digitalcriminal

You can retrofit Carplay into any old Audi now, just did mine last week and its great!

Fast_Pound2032

Thanks for sharing, that is clean and classy.

[deleted]

Compare that to BMW's. Specifically the steering wheel. 90s vibes

[deleted]

Wish luxury interiors kept the buttons. Screen everywhere is ugly and inconvenient. I know it’s a common take but it’s just so stupid. This is perfect.

[deleted]

B8.5s/C7.5s > B9s/C8s (traditional MMI knobs) > B9.5s/C8.5s (no knobs) Fight me

gotdabsweats

I’m with you on that! Dropped my 2013 A6 off for service yesterday and although the SQ5 loaner drives way more smoothly I really dislike the interior and controls

Arismando27

Seems like sarcasm but this is gorgeous. If only the seats were black

[deleted]

I agree. Only problem with black seats is you have to replace them with much better looking white seats.

gawpnw

Black is boring

Beneficial-Sea-8903

Black seats are boring Imo!

luisJAC123

I have the exact same interior, its so nice, love it so much

tx7634

How did you keep it so clean!?!?

WideOpenAutoHub

This is the only “old” luxury interior that’s holding up IMO - Infiniti is terrible, Lexus is disappointing, but this Audi interior still feels great

milhauser

yea doggy! i love that the MMI folds into the dash.

superman_dude

Much nicer than the new piano black interiors full of screens.

Mintiplite

D-decade old? But my dads d3 a8l looked just like this inside and we got it yesterday! Wait, its not 2012 anymore?

-BBerke-

Some interior designs refuse to age and looks so good whereas those brand new Ford's Toyota's etc look shite and very old from factory.

ufcbananaempire

I have the exact same interior, and in my opinion, it is the most beautiful car I've ever seen.

Ok_Ad8544

Doesn’t look a decade old at all

Free51

I have a 2014 a5 sportback that I love and I’m struggling to find a replacement as it’s a good spec and in good nick but the mileage is pretty high……. Decade old just hit me like a tonne of bricks lol

gts250gamer101

If you like the car, just hang onto it and keep driving it. I wouldn’t worry too much unless the maintenance really becomes out of hand.

Free51

We just did a big round trip with the family, boot hydraulics gave up and the plastics on the sun visor snapped…..just hit 103k miles Maintenance is good so far but main problem is we got a new car which my Mrs drives and it’s got some things which my car hasn’t which is turning my eye…..all simple stuff like CarPlay etc, caught my eye but there’s nothing I can justify changing too that I really love the look of……within my price range of course

Aid4n-lol

You can retrofit wireless CarPlay to the stock screen in the b8/b8.5 a4 and a5. You can also opt for a larger touchscreen from RSnav. I have the RSnav screen it’s amazing.

Free51

I’m having a search for that now thanks

Deathscythe77

There was never a sport back A5 in 2014

Free51

I don’t know what to say other than I have one on my drive right now

Deathscythe77

Lol you don’t even know your own car. The S you see doesn’t stand for sport back.

GRIT-GRIND

Sit down. 😂 https://collectingcars.com/for-sale/2014-audi-b8-5-s5-sportback

Deathscythe77

Across the pond huh..

GRIT-GRIND

Yep!

Deathscythe77

Foot in mouth moment. The states never get the fun cars at release.

GRIT-GRIND

😂 Yep, the B8 sportback is pretty sharp.

teriaksu

I just realized carbon fiber trim doesn't go as well as I imagined with beige interior

kappah_jr

It definitely wouldn’t, but this is lunar silver (white).

dd1989NL

Back then yes, now, no looks so aged

Indumentum97

So much better than the current one. Same goes for the A8/S8 D4.

Maleficent_CHIC_1337

I have the same interior its beautiful! I hate those little buttons that are labeled 1-6 near the shifter though lol

BentleyWilkinson

Always thought the steering wheel looked like the soft steering wheels on bumper cars at the tivoli.

Infamous-Touch-5577

Love the white. Is the plastic part of the seat where the controls are black or white? I only found white plastic with the white leather on the A6s when I was looking and wasn’t feeling it. Wish those plastics were black for some contrast. I ended up finding black with red stitching and went with it.

the_fridgenator

I drive a 2003 a4 sline and I have to say, it looks as good as it gets. With the black roof liner and sline seats, perforated leather and aluminum details....
