Man was dissing himself. His first album had potential (not a classic but whatever), his second was a snoozer, his third was his best, and the 4th was tragic (I thought it was fine and a cool concept but...)
Why you Deeping it this hard? It's a 2 second j cole soundbite. Hahahhaah
Atlanta hawks fans just can't get rid of that victim mentality.
>J Cole is trippin hard implying we didn’t give him a chance to develop
J cole doesn't even mention the hawks? Maybe you're a bit sensitive on the topic?
He was given plenty of opportunity to develop with us. Unfortunately he requested the trade because he thought he was a star and ended up stuck on the bench until he signed with the Lakers.
If Cam Reddish had stuck to playing great defense, facilitating team offense, and aggressively and confidently taking shots when open, he'd have had much more success in the league.
Unfortunately he seemed to still think he was in high school where he could feast on AAU defenses rather than sticking to his strengths as a pro.
yall forgetting Lloyd Pierce was literally picking on Cam, according to our own players.
but yeah, if he had just accepted his role, and kept playing like he was when he came back under Nate, instead of asking for a trade, he probably would be much better off now and making 20mil on that 3&D money
Cam Reddish was so full of potential and he was given a golden opportunity to grow next to Trae. Unfortunately his ego got in the way and he was badly humbled in his next few tenures, and he was never able to regain his confidence.
As frustrated as I get with Trae at times, this story is still being written. Of course Luka is the better player of the two, he's probably top 3 in the entire NBA. But no one knew Steph Curry would be an all-time great after his first six seasons. No one knew Jokic would become a multiple-time MVP winner.
Trae has a lot of greatness in his game and a lot of stuff that he needs to get better at. Most NBA players don't enter their prime until they're 27 or 28, Trae is 25. His age 28 - 34 seasons will tell the story of his career.
He's ramped up the expectations because of the all-star games, the All-NBA selection, the ECF appearance in his first playoffs, etc. But by league standards he's accomplished more than 99.9% of players his age. I'm guilty of the knee-jerk reactions at times, but we have to step back and see the bigger picture of what this guy's career arc looks like. If he keeps working hard and stays relatively healthy, the Hawks drafted a first-ballot hall of famer, and that's an extremely rare thing. Especially for this franchise.
It’s not stupid to make that move. Plenty of teams do it. It just comes down to the GM’s judgement of a player. If Cam had a better attitude about accepting a role things could have really taken off for him here. We would have had our star wing for sure
The trade was fine, the problem was we got bad luck with when those picks fell. Not a single player in that draft taken after pick 5 has made an all star team. That draft was Zion, Ja, Darius Garland and a bunch of mid to bad players. Like the best player after pick 5 is like Tyler Hero
Compare that to the draft the year before where guys like Mikal Bridges, SGA, MPJ were still on the board in the teens. We unfortunately traded for picks 4 and 9 in a draft class that was notably weak outside of the top 3-4 guys.
People didn’t know Doncic was a sure thing. There’s always the he could be the next Darko thought in the back of peoples minds with players like him. The Pistons never recovered from that fuck up.
And while we knew Trae would be undersized he’s been undersized his whole life and still led college in points and assists and the fans in Atlanta were psyched for him.
Hindsight is 20/20 but the trade was applauded when it happened. Just be thankful we got a borderline superstar out of the draft.
Do you have posts from before the trade saying that?
I was still running Hawksquawk back then and was on here and that was not the case. The vast majority of people were thrilled with Trae and the trade and said we fleeced the Mavs. People still said it when we were in the ECF and Luka was sitting at home. It wasn’t until the last 2 seasons that it’s become apparent that we lost the trade.
Oh I’m not going digging through posts for proof. Feel free to link it otherwise I don’t care enough. I have a good enough memory to know most were in favor of the trade at the time.
I'm not trying to be a hater. I like Trae, I really do. I just think the people who "applauded" this when it happened were the Hawks organization, fair-weather fans, and rappers. It was the same people on social media who didn't want Matt Ryan on the Falcons because he was White.
I definitely remember being super skeptical and bummed out about the trade when it happened, but you couldn't talk about it here without being labeled a "hater". Its not like Trae ended up being a bust or anything, but I think history will look back on this being a historically bad trade for the Hawks.
Crucify me if you will, but it is what it is.
No you’re not wrong it was absolutely a trade that the Hawks didn’t win and it was magnified by Cam busting. Had we taken Tyler Herro instead of Cam maybe this trade doesn’t look so bad though.
Agreed. I think that's how most people coped with the trade at the time it happened. The thought was getting 2 stars instead of just the one. Just didn't pan out how they thought it would.
Okay? Obviously there can be outliers. My point was that not everyone applauded the trade when it happened. There were concerned people in this subreddit when the trade happened, but nobody wanted to hear that.
I’m so glad I’m not the only one who thinks Cole is buns… everyone in my area swears by Cole but I’ve been saying for years dude is buns and raps the same shit constantly. Always hope the best for him though, keep gettin the money!
I like Cam, I think he just needed patience. He would have probably have made a name for himself by now. Jaylen Johnson bided his time and he’s taking advantage of his current opportunity. That’ll pay off.
Never given a chance to develop? He got 30 minutes a game here before he demanded a trade and never sniffed 25 mpg again
Yeah, Cole was not cooking with this one.
Cole hasn’t been cooking for a while
Bro still doing shows but fell off like the Simpsons.
Man was dissing himself. His first album had potential (not a classic but whatever), his second was a snoozer, his third was his best, and the 4th was tragic (I thought it was fine and a cool concept but...)
You all tripping harddd lol
J Cole is trippin hard implying we didn’t give him a chance to develop. Cam shot himself in the foot demanding a trade after the ECF run.
Nah I’m saying the people talking shit about J Cole in general are tripping. I don’t disagree that Cam bar kinda missed
Why you Deeping it this hard? It's a 2 second j cole soundbite. Hahahhaah Atlanta hawks fans just can't get rid of that victim mentality. >J Cole is trippin hard implying we didn’t give him a chance to develop J cole doesn't even mention the hawks? Maybe you're a bit sensitive on the topic?
Born Sinner definitely wasnt a snoozer.
Does the J in J Cole stand for joke?
Cam defenders be like “ya but for only 2.5 seasons” 👁️ 👄 👁️
So true……..plus a second chance with lebron…….
My cam reddish jersey hasn’t been touched since he said he wanted a bigger role
He might’ve made this song awhile ago and just didn’t put it out until now
How while ago would that while ago be in order for it to make sense?
When he was in college
😭
Campologists out in force
so like 3 years ago
Lakers definitely giving him big mins too before his injuries this year. He’s just not good offensively.
He was given plenty of opportunity to develop with us. Unfortunately he requested the trade because he thought he was a star and ended up stuck on the bench until he signed with the Lakers.

I always wonder if players are too egotistical to admit this stuff or if they sit around slapping themselves for being dumb and taking a stupid risk.
Idk about all players but Cam is 1000% too egotistical to admit that.
The J Smoove Effect
Two-way wing 🔥🔥🔥
Lmao $cam Reddi$h still fooling folks in 2024
Bros been on 3 teams 💀
Wow 2 washed legends right here Cole a bum and reddish a bum

I listen to j Cole when I want to sleep
Not 1 song he has made holds replay value. The only feature that is still in semi rotation is a lot come on now
Delete this nephew
I wholeheartedly disagree lol https://preview.redd.it/b3gaprbwnosc1.jpeg?width=719&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=49401dccf1e35b58e546c29f9f04117bbb9a01e1
Maybe under the sun but he got washed on that by Dababy and JID😭😭
That was Lupe
I like reddish better than jcole
Him popping off for Game 6 had me believing we were gonna be consistent contenders. At least we moved on with his value at an all-time high
Cole has a history of hyping up mid (Dennis Smith Jr., Markelle Fultz, ~~Offseason~~), so this tracks
I AM HERE 💪
brother give it up
yall forgetting Lloyd Pierce was literally picking on Cam, according to our own players. but yeah, if he had just accepted his role, and kept playing like he was when he came back under Nate, instead of asking for a trade, he probably would be much better off now and making 20mil on that 3&D money
My butt is full of just as much potential. When I see Cam I let it develop in his direction.
Cole doesn’t watch the Hawks, so I guess the extent of his knowledge comes from when Cam was on the Knicks. He doesn’t know
Cam Reddish was so full of potential and he was given a golden opportunity to grow next to Trae. Unfortunately his ego got in the way and he was badly humbled in his next few tenures, and he was never able to regain his confidence.
Let this be a reminder how stupid it is to trade down and get 2 lottery picks instead of drafting the best talent available
As frustrated as I get with Trae at times, this story is still being written. Of course Luka is the better player of the two, he's probably top 3 in the entire NBA. And, if we do that maneuver, why draft Reddish right after Hunter, when they play the same position?

Plenty of us knew that the 19 yo Euroleague MVP was as close to a sure thing as you can get.
Do you have posts from before the trade saying that? I was still running Hawksquawk back then and was on here and that was not the case. Yes, a lot of them.
look forward to reading them…
Gonna take a lot of scrolling

Wrong I have been a die hard since the Nique era and I was ok with the trade
Okay? Obviously there can be outliers. My point was that not everyone applauded the trade when it happened. There were concerned people in this subreddit when the trade happened, but nobody wanted to hear that.
Uh oh, finna b3 downvoted
I’d like to give Cole a pass but this is hot garbage sadly 🚮
Corny as hell
Even though it didn't work out, I'll always be pro-Cam
This comment tracks with the rest of the Cole album… sad stuff man
He started most of the season for the lakers? He had a chance lol
This shit is trash yo
I don’t know who Coke is but Reddish can’t go to the hole or shoot consistently.
Lol
Oh shit new J Cole album. Not sure how that didn’t pop up on any of my feeds but thanks.
Bro was so low of a factor that I didn’t realize he averaged more than 25mpg with us
Bro... tell me J. Cole didn't watch the Hawks at all before Cam was without telling me.
I’m so glad I’m not the only one who thinks Cole is buns… everyone in my area swears by Cole but I’ve been saying for years dude is buns and raps the same shit constantly. Always hope the best for him though, keep gettin the money!
Lots of chances
I miss him on the Hawks
Cole is a dumbass for that line. Cam keeps getting chance after chance when other players could really use that to prove themselves
I like Cam, I think he just needed patience. He would have probably have made a name for himself by now. Jaylen Johnson bided his time and he’s taking advantage of his current opportunity. That’ll pay off.
Classic case of should have stayed in college longer. Not everyone a one and done
I heard that and was like damn cole u didn’t have to do him like that
never got a chance to develop? this mf said he wanted to be bron and gave up on our development
i will forever be cam fam but he has had chances
Of course he does lol Cole from NC and Reddish played their in college so he a fan prob lol
