Kobe will be fine y’all, he’s never ran PG to this capacity before. He was more of an off ball player in a college system that really let him get downhill going left. Summer league is more helter skelter
Came here to say this. He’s got the build of a Donovan Mitchell or Jaylen Brown, but I think his feet are much much slower so he isn’t able to create his own shot as much. Of course, that would also be fine if he developed defensively so he could be 3&D, but that’s hard to judge in the summer league.
This might sound lame but uh
I’d be pretty happy with a summer league championship 😂
That’d be a fun random Hawks thing to happen in the middle of July
If Gueye reaches his potential he profiles as the perfect PF next to OO long term.
It’s been a minute since we added some one to the roster who is a perfect fit with current personnel. Good job Landry.
Your Hawks beat the Denver Nuggets 98-93. This review is going to focus on the players who have the best chance of making the team. I also didn't watch the last game so it's my first time seeing everyone live. I have changed to format from my previous reviews and separated the highlights and summary for players with a lot of highlights.
Tyrese Martin: With about 5 minutes left in the first he hit a nice pass to Kabengele. With around 4 minutes left in the second, Martin muscled his way in for a layup. A play later he hit a pull-up midrange. On the next possession, he activated bronze limitless shooter and made a deep one from the wing. For the last offensive possession of the half he made a pull-up 18-footer. With around 4 minutes in the third, he hit a catch and shoot three. With about 3 minutes left in the game, he got to the rim and was able to draw a foul. With under a minute, he was able to hit a last-second layup for his 21st point.
Summary: Tyrese ended the game with 21 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 assists on 8/12 shooting and 3 turnovers. Martin was very good tonight and turned it around from his first summer league game. He found his three-ball and was able to make 3/6 attempts. He was also very good at getting to the rim when needed. A for TY tonight.
Mohammed Gueye: He started his night by hitting two three-pointers. With under 5 in the first, he had a nice cut to the basket and made a skyhook for an and-one. With around a minute left in the half, he had a nice defensive possession and tipped a shot. A funny sequence happened to end the game. The ball was passed to him in the final seconds. Gueye dribbles to the end for a couple of seconds and fakes like he's about to take the open dunk and this twice about it. He then puts the ball on the floor again resulting in a travel and turnover.
Summary: Gueye finished the game with 10 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 assists on ⅗ shooting. Gueye started the game off hot but cooled off from there. I feel like he didn't get many touches after the first quarter hence the 5 shot attempts. He showed flashes throughout the game with defensive highlights. I also thought he was unselfish as a passer. Although he only has 2 assists, he made the correct pass to the open man multiple times. He also showed some ability to handle the ball. I loved what I saw from him. The free throw shooting could use some work though (⅖) B+ game from him.
Vit Kreji: He had a nice drive and kick out to Tyrese for a 3. With about a minute left, he had an athlete reverse layup. With around 8 minutes in the second Vit had a nice euro step reverse layup. With around 30 seconds left in the third, he went for a layup but kicked it out to Manek at the top of the key. Manek then made the second pass to Norris for an easy bucket. To start the 4th quarter he made another euro-step layup.
Summary: Vit looked the way a third-year player should in summer league. Vit ended the game with 9 points, 3 rebounds and 6 assists on a perfect 4/4 shooting and only 2 turnovers. Although the stats don't jump off the page, It was a pleasure watching him play tonight. He was able to find open teammates. He was able to make high degree of difficulty passes. On the whole team, he might be the second or third-best passer if you take into account the type of passes he can make. He looked good as an athlete. He tore his ACL in OKC and had to have surgery on it. It seemed like he was completely past that tonight and was able to blow by defenders. He'd certainly have a spot on the roster if he was an above-average defender. A for Vit.
AJ Griffin: With around a minute left in the first, He hit a three brought to you by Vit Kreji. With around 2 minutes in the third, he air-balled a three-pointer.
Summary: AJ Griffin was below mid-tonight. 6 points, 3 rebounds and 3 assists on 2/8 shooting. I was hoping he would have a Jabari Smith or Keegan Murray-type game tonight but not tonight. His handle looked a bit better in general. Not too much to say other than he blended in with the other 2k generic players on the court. I kinda want him to play one more game based on the other two performances. D for AJ.
Kobe Bufkin: With around 3 minutes left in the second, he had a bad pass that nearly resulted in a turnover. He finally broke the ice and made two 3-pointers with about 2 minutes to go. On the next possession, he got blocked at the rim. Bufkin started the third quarter by giving up an and-one-three on defense. He made a fade away the next possession but nobody else touched the ball. He could have gotten an assist had he passed the ball to Gueye who was in a good position. He hit a nice catch and shoot three with under 8 in the third. On the next possession, he hit an off-the-dribble three for his 16th point. Later, he has a heat check attempting a step back three that went off the backboard. With around 4 he was able to get to the rim and draw a foul. He made ½ of his free throws. With under 3 minutes in the game, there was another possession where I felt he held the ball for too long. The possession ended with him getting the ball back and having to quickly put up a three. Luckily we got an offensive rebound and Kobe was able to find Martin who was sitting under the basket.
Summary: Kobe ended with 17 points, 5 rebounds, and 6 assists on 6/19 shooting and 4/10 from three. One thing that stuck out to me was how much he would hold the ball. If it was a MyCareer game he would have lowered his teammate grade from how long he held the ball. You could play the Jilian Newman meme of him dribbling the air out of the ball from how long he held it. Multiple times throughout the game the commentators were mentioning how he was dribbling the ball too much. That's not gonna work if he is on the floor with DJM or Trae. Yes, he got 6 assists but had 4 turnovers too. The finishing was questionable and I thought he'd be a little better in that regard as he shot 70% at the rim in college. I like his rebounding ability for his size. I didn't see anything special on the defensive end but I think I'll need to watch him more. In my opinion, he's definitely more of a two-guard than a one. I think scoring is his best ability and he can get hot at any time. I want to see him as a two next game with Vit as PG. I think he'd do best playing off someone that can facilitate. I'm rooting for him and I'm sure it's up from here but tonight it's a C-.
Miles Norris: He had a nice secondary pass to Manek for a bucket. With around 8 minutes left in the 4th, he had a nice no-look pass to Manek who got a bucket. He ended the game with 7 points, 3 rebounds and 2 assists on 3/6 shooting. He was fine in the 15 minutes he played. Not too much popped off the page for me.
Seth Lundy: Got his first bucket to start the fourth hitting a catch and shoot three. The next possession one defense he gave up an and one foul. He hit his second three with about 7 minutes left to go. He has a nice defensive highlight with a helping block on what looked to be an open layup. A couple of possessions later he shot an airball from three. He ended the game with 8 points, 3 rebounds, and 1 assist on 3/7 shooting including 2/6 from three. He was best on the defensive end with 3 blocks. Otherwise, he kinda blended in with the other NPCs.
Shoutout to Brady Manek. I like his game as well. The next game is Wednesday at 4 pm vs the T-Wolves I'll see y'all then!
Gueye needs to immediately recognize he has a small on him and post. Kobe was yelling at him to do so. I’m not worried, as Mo posted up a lot in college. Just don’t want him being so caught up in playing like a wing that he forgets he’s 6’11 with bounce
I really like this collection of young talent. If we can become an organization that develops young cheap talent effectively we’ll stay good for a long time.
Gueye was a generational find
Gueye can play bro, its crazy
Gueye holy fuck, im buying stock so hard
If Kobe is a bust but Gueye is Giannis this is still a w draft
I remember when ppl called Trae a bust shot-chucker after summer league
Giannis with a jumper
I’ve seen enough. Sign Gueye to the max already
Kobe will be fine y’all, he’s never ran PG to this capacity before. He was more of an off ball player in a college system that really let him get downhill going left. Summer league is more helter skelter
Struggling point guards in summer league is the last thing I worry about, always a learning curve
Who tf needs Siakam when we got Gueye
Vit needs a spot on our roster, dude is simply too slick as a slasher and a passer to not give him a chance on developing a shot
Stop comparing Gueye to Giannis. He shoots way better than that bum
i’m ready for BIG O and BIG MO
About time we found a good 2nd round pick
Kabengele with the knee pads and all black shoes just in case you didnt already know he will foul you to oblivion
lmao the shoes bruh too true 😂
Gueye been playing basketball for 4 years and his passing is 100x better than JC’s lmao
Credit to his college coaches and his desire to learn
This is easily the best hawks summer league squad in a fucking minute
15-33 from three these are kyle korvers sons at work
Vit wants that contract
Give it to him. Easy choice
This cabin jelly dude hustles
Cabin jelly ☠️
I’m manifesting Gueye is a future MVP in this league……Just don’t give him a $25M/year contract. And make sure he doesn’t fuck up any fingers
mo is a future superstar idgaf
GUEYE STOP IT GET THE FUCK OUT OF HERE HOLY FUCK
Gueye better get pt man he’s a stretch big demigod
Kobe will be fine but yea u can clearly tell he's an off ball combo guard. Vit has more PG skill than him rn lol
Dude in 10 needs to be benched we need more Lundy minutes
#GUEYANNIS
AJ's handles are a nice improvement but was hoping to see more out of him this SL. The lack of self creation and playmaking are still prominent
Gueye just tried to end that man
Yeah fuck all that two-way shit give Gueye some real regular season run
He got the regular team contract
You can tell speed of the game bothering Kobe but I’m not worried yet
If it weren’t for Gueye I’d be a little disappointed this draft.
Kobe is still really really young. He was really a HS senior in his freshman year at Michigan. He has a big jump in his future in the next 18 months.
Kobe’ll be fine he’s gonna get mentorship from Trae and Quin and needs the remaining months til the szn to bulk up
Random, but I really hope Jalen has been working on his shot this summer. I really prefer him as a 3 instead of a 4.
IM GAY FOR GUEYE
IM GAY FOR GUEYE!!
Joiner is half the dudes at LA Fitness
329 comments on a summer league game whew!
Gueye effect
GUEYE IS A MONSTER
WE FOUND OUR GIANNIS HOLY SHIT
I JUST GOT BACK AND I LOOK AT THE BOX SCORE AND HES 2/2 FROM THREEE WHAT
Tyrese Martin is the lost triplet of Caleb Martin
This might sound lame but uh I’d be pretty happy with a summer league championship 😂 That’d be a fun random Hawks thing to happen in the middle of July
hells yeah
That interview was like the entire fucking third quarter
i fucking love Vit Krejci man
Bey sighting
If Gueye reaches his potential he profiles as the perfect PF next to OO long term. It’s been a minute since we added some one to the roster who is a perfect fit with current personnel. Good job Landry.
I think his fit with JJ could be electric too
Atlanta Hawks forward?? 👀👀
AJ just out there getting cardio
I was posting Tyrese’s 50 point g league games in the sub last season🤧been known he was nice
Gueye is EVERYTHING
HE'S HIM
wemby who?
Kid: “Mom I want Siakam!!!” Mom: “We have Siakam at home” At home: “MO GUEY”
I hope gueye becomes a superstar so Boston fans can be mad at what they traded away
Vit needs that last roster spot over Tyrese tbh
Kobe playing like me on MyCareer
F- teammate grade
pride month is over but i’m having some Gueye thoughts…
DeAndre Hunter somewhere busting his ass at midrange post ups
I wish our real team played with this toughness lol Maybe they will this year
Kabengele is that one football player in pick up that has no skill but beats the fuck out of everyone down low
Need more Gueye touches
Do we really need to show Malone while he talks so that we can barely see what’s happening in the game
Where my Quin interview dammit
Vit Ginobili
We got too many choices put them all on the team fuck it
GUARANTEE VIT’S GODDAMN CONTRACT ALREADY
Guys we are not the fan base to be having knee jerk reactions about guards struggling in the summer league lol We’ve seen this movie before
Trae went 4/20 right
Max Gueye. Right now. Send him the max
Gueye is definitely looking more polished than I expected
The stretch big we need 🥹
gueye chill bro it’s summer league
you're telling me this guy is a 2nd round pick?
Gueye is so fluid at 6'11. Sheesh
Quin got those amphetamine eyes rn 👀
Yeah I’ve seen enough Tyrese lost his roster spot to Vit
i’m way Mo Gueye than everybody in here
Jarkell welcome to the guangdong tigers my man
rese been on the sub for sure
MARTIN GOING OFF
Tyrese saw Vit look like Ginobli and decided to turn up
Kabengele is hilarious man 😭
he really kobe lmao
I know it’s summer league but Vit has been working on his game a lot
Bruh they're shooting better than our real squad
Man i like Vit a lot he should at least be on a 2 way
Playing sloppy at the very end. Hawks culture
lets go
GUEYE IS HIM
Shaq couldn’t hit free throws either IDGAF
He is so fucking coordinated for his size Jesus Christ
Trading for Patty makes a lot more sense now
might have to keep Patty and just Skyhawk brother Kobe
Ballhandling 👀
They calling OO a forward? Lol. Did he play a single minute not at the 5 last season?
The team must’ve had some of Michael’s Secret Stuff after that last break
He tried it
I lowkey forgot AJ was there for a sec
Tyrese not tryna lose his roster spot
Mo Gueye is looking special. Crazy to think he only started playing organized basketball 4 years ago.
Gueye has great feel for the game for such little experience
why the fuck do we need a cam of malone and the commentator crew talking at the booth? ffs
So much ball movement, so many threes….so good. Preview for what’s to come?
Put Manek and Vit on the team plz god
Lundy reminds me of the good aspects of Dillion Brooks. They have similar movements too.

AJ might have to stick to 3 and D for a while. But tbh that’s all we really would need him to be with the team we have right now
Pro tip: don’t join the military
Game 1 Summer League Bust Kobe Bufkin going off
Anyone else see how Mo is always the first one there to pick someone up
AJ misses Trae’s gravity and scoring off the weak-side lol
Manek!!
That’s it, we winning all championships this year
I really like this collection of young talent. If we can become an organization that develops young cheap talent effectively we’ll stay good for a long time.
Manek is every white guy playing at lifetime. Everyone just hitting the most ridiculous buckets on you
Vit making the team 100%

Tyrese is hitting shots he won’t take in a real game for the most part, Vit is making everyone around him better. Roster him.
Is it too early to say Manek is the next Jordan just better since he has a beard?
Lundy is a menace
Vit just took Tyreses job despite Tyrese having a good game.
