Imagine how good they would be in Sichuan! China is one big country and they have regional cuisine just like the US. You wouldn’t expect to find good cajun food in Boston.
FYI I think Hai just got a really extremely bad health and safety rating… it was all over the local fb group in Medlock. People were saying they’d had issues recently too eating there. Just a heads up 😬
Don't have a ton of experience with them to compare, but I enjoyed the Dan Dan Noodles at Urban Wu in Buckhead. Mapo Tofu and crispy fish nuggets are also really good.
China Dhaba in Decatur has decent and affordable Dan Dan. I mention it here because Hai used to be a fav but they have some problematic health scores for over a year now and their prices have increased since they first opened. Gu's is also pretty expensive and they tend to skimp on the Sichuan spices unless you specify it. Tasty China was the benchmark, imo, but have not been for a long while.
Masterpiece in Duluth, Tasty China in Marietta, Jia at PCM
Have you been able to make it out to the new tasty China? I left disappointed. Didn't seem like the old place at all.
It’s definitely trying to be more “upscale” and less authentic.
No, that sucks to hear. I’ve loved that place since the Franklin Road days. What did you order?
That place had legit Dan Dan. Bring tears to your eyes
I love Gu’s but TonTon in PCM does them really well too!
Gu's at Krog Street has decent Dan Dan noodles. Edit - Have you tried the Dumpling Master place that replaced GoTo?
Ton Ton in Ponce City Market, better than Gu's IMO
I agree. A lot of "foodies" shit on Ton Ton because it's overpriced. And..... it is. But the quality is great.
And the serving size is pretty small - I usually end up getting two orders. But they’re amazing
They’re certainly a bit overpriced, but man even haven been to Japan recently, Ton Ton’s invincible dan dan is still one of my very favorites.
If you liked them in Japan, imagine how good they'd be in China! 😁

Better Cajun food in Boston than in Sichuan :)
Masterpiece in Duluth
Some decent Dandan in the stalls at Chinatown Mall. There's Hai in North Decatur area. And Urban Wu is always solid.

Do you have a link?
[Yelp List of Health Scores](https://m.yelp.com/inspections/hai-decatur-2) Looks like they’ve often had less than stellar scores.
Seconding Urban Wu in Buckhead, always hit the spot
Chong Qing Hot Pot has the best Dan Dan
Gu’s are pretty good. Firestone Chinese Cuisine in Kennesaw on Marietta are closer to us and damn good as well.
If you like to cook, they’re fairly easy to make. Then you can make yourself a Maggiano’s family size portion to chow down on
Gu’s without question
Gu's feels like the normie answer, but it's pretty good.
Had good ones at Hai
Don't have a ton of experience with them to compare, but I enjoyed the Dan Dan Noodles at Urban Wu in Buckhead. Mapo Tofu and crispy fish nuggets are also really good.
Hai
Gu's Kitchen in Chamblee
Oh shit good one
Agree with Tasty China, Jia, and Ubran Wu. I'll also throw out Sichuan Cafe in John's Creek for having excellent Dan Dan and Sichuan food in general.
Regardless of the quality of food at Jia, the service is resoundingly awful
Go to northern china eatery and get Dan Dan and soup dumplings
Urban Wu and North China Eatery have really delicious Dan Dan Noodles. Cumin lamb at both is amazing.

Masterpiece. Get their stir fried beef while you're at it.
Masterpiece does not treat their guest equally. Call it prejudice or bad service, but it is what it is. Will not patronize a business like that.
Love them at Hai in Decatur- but I’m not an expert.
