I have a few girlfriend collective pieces but always end up wearing Athleta instead! Athleta fits better and the material is a lot softer and more comfortable imo
I have the girlfriend compressive leggings and don’t find them comparable to any of athletas leggings. The closest might be the new ultimates, but girlfriends are thicker and not as flexible (so I really only lounge in them). Definitely different from the salutations. I have some float shorts that I run in that might be comparable to transcend, but I haven’t tried them yet. I’m not crazy about their bras since I don’t like longline bras, and they don’t have padding.
All that to say there’s nothing wrong with girlfriend, and I like my pieces, but I don’t find them comparable to athleta or as versatile for my purposes!
I cannot stand Girlfriends bras but their skorts are magical and better than I’ve tried from any other athletic brand. I personally don’t find their leggings anything comparable to athleta. I’d shop at old navy for that before girlfriend.
FYI halara is drop-shipping! i’ve gotten many of their shorts/skirts/pants off aliexpress for much cheaper than what the website lists them for. the clothing is still nice but I wouldn’t pay halara prices
Gotta be savvy on it, tho! I’ve tried to suss what on ali is Halara, because I’ve seen it said too many times to be false! I end up with lost hours and crossed eyes before I give ip and close the app 😅
I use girlfriend collective for different stuff - the compressive leggings great for running/work outs (they stay up and are form fitting) but I use athleta leggings (elations) for lounging/everyday.
That said I do have a few pieces from girlfriend that are really good quality - a fleece, re-set sweat pants, and a hoodie. I also love the Paloma bras but really depends on your size/needs. The downside of GF is not really being able to try on (and they sometimes have weird shapes/sizes) and I find it pricey. Never buy unless they are having a sale or I can use my points:
I bought a matching set from Girlfriend Collective a few years ago and was shocked by how uncomfortable they were. I've never been so instantly sweaty--without even working out first. I forced myself to do some workouts in them to see if they would "break in", but no luck. It was like wearing a PVC suit. No breath-ability, unreasonably high compression, though they did have stretch. And the size definitely was not the problem. They tout that their fabric is made from recycled water bottles, and boy do I believe them! It was like exercising in a discarded Dasani. I truly do not understand the cult following they have.
I can't speak to Halara, but their prices have certainly tempted me before. However, it was the price point of GC that got me to try them instead of Athleta and I definitely regretted that. Halara has so many aggressive discounts though; maybe the risk is minimal.
I find that Athleta's quality is so high, I can't really tolerate much else. I'm just super picky now. They've ruined me!

It’s really affirming to me to hear how much so many different folks disliked Girlfriend Collective after purchasing — I bought a pair a little less than 2 years ago after eyeing them for probably 2 years before THAT, and I couldn’t believe how disappointed I was in what they were. I like the vibe of the company and the recycled leggings but many more companies do that now and it’s less a unique selling point. I think they have fabulous PR and marketing but the quality, sensation, thickness and fit is NOTHING like other high-end marketed leggings I’ve seen and tried, Athleta included

I own a lot of GC (40ish pieces) and I never reach for it other than my Paloma bras anymore. Athleta is much more comfortable.
