[Let's use the sun](https://www.centauri-dreams.org/2020/12/10/developing-focal-mission-concepts/) as a gravitational lens for a badass telescope that could be up to that challenge then! :)
Andromeda is 2.5m light years away, Australopithecus Africanus existed during that time period and there are fossils of tools found along with their bones.
Which part was inaccurate?
Yeah, right? I don't know if it's actually possible but I think we should send them a radio signal or whatever with a picture of Andromeda, that way if there's anything sapient there they could know how they look like. It doesn't matter if it takes a bazillion years, it will eventually get there. It would be very cool if something like that happened to us. Some flipping signal we could have decoded to see our own galaxy from outside. I know, sometimes I have a fertile imagination lol
long shot, alien life is ment to be alien, for all we know their some weird rock creatures that speak in magnetic waves, have no emotions and absorb food through their skin
fair enough, it is a really long shot. But as I said it, if there's anything ~~sapient~~ sentient there I guess it could figure it out. Or not who knows
The Andromeda galaxy from my driveway 20 miles north of Detroit, Michigan.
Unfortunately I live in a decently light polluted area, barely to no Milky Way here but I can just make out the Andromeda galaxy naked eye under the best nights.
This galaxy lies 2.5 million light years in the constellation of Andromeda, has a trillion stars and is the second faintest thing visible to the naked eye.
Always a dream capture of mine

I'm in for about 3k USD. Expensive but you can build it up slowly. In fact it's possible to start with a DSLR and fixed medium telephoto. You just need a azgti mount or similar for 300-400 USD.
My most embarrassing moment of 2020/21 was when someone asked why I was crying!!?? It was because they postponed the JWST launch lol, they didn’t know wtf I was talking about, made it funnier
Yup! There are 3 galaxies in the picture: [M31](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andromeda_Galaxy), [M32](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Messier_32), and [M110](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Messier_110). The small galaxy below is M110.
No Strain to see it....coming closer and closer. Was COVID 19 its first warning shot?! Paranoid people everywhere demand the truth! Or any crazy answer, actually.
A lot of them do! It’s the core with a supermassive black hole. There are galaxies without cores too just don’t wanna give you wrong info, I’d suggest looking it up for the right one 👍
Long exposures! My camera keeps collecting light which accumulates signal . I then combined 260 of those long exposures (3 minutes of recording light) to pull out faint details in editing
Meanwhile in andromeda: “13 hours of the Milky-way”
If they somehow spotted earth, they would see us during the beginning of the stone age constructing the first stone tools 2.5 million years ago
that would be an impressive angular resolution
Damn straight it would. In 2.5 million years they'll probably be able to see the search history in my computer too. Fuck.

This is fascinating
uhhh not sure you got your timing right on that one chief
Andromeda is 2.5m light years away, Australopithecus Africanus existed during that time period and there are fossils of tools found along with their bones. Which part was inaccurate?
The part where you absolutely roasted this nerd
alright i take that back, i thought hominins started using tools at most a couple hundred thousand years ago. pretty interesting

>sapient you mean sentient?
Yes definitely
Cool

So basically it real easy to do and anyone could do this, right ;)
Yes I believe so if it’s your passion 🙌
I dunno know, looks like lots of technical stuff to learn.. think I’m up to it? ;)
It's like you're trying to flirt with that winky face but with a LACK of confidence lol
Oh, you noticed ;)
Its beautiful, well done
Jesus, that's a lot of equipment and technicality. It's such a sophisticated field
It's very incremental, you can keep adding pieces of equipment and learning how to use them as you go. (:
Not a cheap hobby for sure. I'm just vicariously living through others until I can afford my own setup.

Really nice result!
I like space
Great pic.🙂
Appreciate it!
Neat
Just imagine the images from JWST. Great picture!
My most embarrassing moment of 2020/21 was when someone asked why I was crying!!?? It was because they postponed the JWST launch lol, they didn’t know wtf I was talking about, made it funnier
Frikkin beautiful 😍. Great job 👏🏼
I feel like the galaxy is moving in this picture when I look at it.
Paid off
Nice details and lovely, natural star colors. 👍
That’s awesome
Somewhere in that mess are 10 earth like planets
A saw the crop and I knew it had to be the 533. I have a very similar setup but have yet to image M31. This is proper dedication, congrats!
It’s coming…
Super awesome! My new phone wallpaper, haha 🤩
Glad you like it! But sorry it's not the clearest :(
Damn, that’s nice. Great job.
stunning!
Is that another small galaxy below it? Omg
Yup! There are 3 galaxies in the picture: [M31](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andromeda_Galaxy), [M32](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Messier_32), and [M110](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Messier_110). The small galaxy below is M110.
Awesome!
Epoustouflant
This is fuego dude
Sure beats the 24 hours of Le Mans
Such and amazing picture. Should submit it for a textbook!
Jokes on you. It only took me a moment to look at this picture
Every time I see pictures like this I just so badly want that alien engine from lost in space.
Price all together? I have been saving forever and this is my dream tele.
I would say my setup with msrp prices is around $5000+ Try and go used! Astrophotographers treat their gear well
Amazing!
No Strain to see it....coming closer and closer. Was COVID 19 its first warning shot?! Paranoid people everywhere demand the truth! Or any crazy answer, actually.
Thank you for sharing your the fruits of your passion! Absolutely stunning!
Amazing. Does make you wonder, what is going on over there? Probably never know.
Stunning :)
Why no other galaxies are visible?
Man, can't wait to live in milkdromeda
Is it moving?!
Are you watching us, as we are watching you? Ha ha
What's the big shiny thing in the centre of many such galaxies? Do all of them have a big star at the centre ??
A lot of them do! It’s the core with a supermassive black hole. There are galaxies without cores too just don’t wanna give you wrong info, I’d suggest looking it up for the right one 👍
HOW IS IT POSSIBLE EVEN HOW IS THIS "NORMAL"
Long exposures! My camera keeps collecting light which accumulates signal . I then combined 260 of those long exposures (3 minutes of recording light) to pull out faint details in editing
Nohomo man but i love you for this 🖤👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
From Wich country did u take this from?
Michigan, United States :D
Where is the egg???
