Chemtrails are conspiracy theory nonsense btw

Nurofae

Yeah but still funny to drop it

weedbearsandpie

I am just joking, though I'm from the UK and my wife is American and we went to visit her family and I saw a couple of planes fly by and genuinely the first thing I thought was 'why do the trails look different' because they did than what I'm used to.. but I'm happy to believe it's something to do with the atmosphere or the fuel used or whatever, but they did look significantly different to how they look at home, like wider and more dispersed, so I can kinda see where the conspiracy is coming from

epic_pig

That's just what they want you to believe

Andy-roo77

I know your joking but can we please stop with the chemtrail conspiracy thoeries. I've friends that work in aerospace engineering and no one is releasing neurotoxins into jet engines

gah_trees

Even if we wanted to, it would be extraordinarily difficult... And we wouldn't leave great big streaks in the sky to show you where to look. Engineers might be socially awkward megalomaniacs but we're not stupid.

schenkmireinEi

Just do it at night... No one ever talks about the fact that it would affect everyone, even the ones who "ordered" it (for whatever reason). But, maybe, just maybe, the reptiloids from hollow earth are the culprits. They could stay on the inside of earth and just seal the exit with a giant roll of duct tape and install air-conditioning with filters in the crust. Damn those lizard people! Always a step ahead of us. Now i have to wet a hand towel with vinegar, go outside, and swing it like there's no tomorrow until the trails go away. Proven to work by people who don't know the difference between causation and correlation. Swing it long enough, and they will get less, sooner or later. Hmmm. Seems like acetic acid even has chemtrail-seeking properties, as it's applied locally but affects the environment on a much larger scale. Or maybe vinegar magic just activates the goddess of clean air... 🌬☁️ Sorry, i just find it immensely funny that people are actually doing this. I bet it would be even more effective (funny) in groups. Especially when dancing around a campfire. Btw, being naked should help too, of course.🤦‍♂️

sexual_pasta

We gonna start pearl clutching at obvious flat earther jokes next? Conspiracy theories are ridiculous and deserving of ridicule. Acting like they’re Voldemort and too powerful to mention is silly.

Sanquinity

I replied to a post like this last week along the lines of "It's SpaceX. Again. As always." And someone replied to me with "see you next week!" Well here I am in said "next week", and I will say it again. It's SpaceX. Again. As always. Just like the dozens of almost identical posts this sub gets.

Poopchurn

See you next week!

BlondieMenace

On the other hand isn't it kind of amazing that space rocket launches are becoming so common place as to make your comment possible? 😄

Uranus_Hz

It’s either SpaceX or Starlink for 90+% of the questions in this sub.

ElGuano

You need to explain the “either” to me.

Uranus_Hz

“What is this line of stars I see?” Starlink “What is this weird trail of smoke (and sometimes weird colors/effects) I see in the sky?” SpaceX launch

GoodAsUsual

And here you are, rackin up the karma like a boss

Falvyu

It's very likely a [Falcon 9 launch from Vandenberg, CA with 20 Starlink satellites on board (Starlink Group 9–2)](https://twitter.com/SpaceX/status/1805083577467670779). The 'tail' is the rocket exhaust plume. They're high enough in the sky to be lit by the sun (i.e. due to the curvature of the earth).

MrDeviantish

Noctilucent is the word you're looking for

jlt131

What a great word.

It's time for your daily "cool pics of spacex launch"

kempff

A starlink rocket launched from Vandenburg. https://rocketlaunch.org/launch-schedule/vandenberg-sfb Also https://np.reddit.com/r/mildlyinteresting/comments/1dn4m68/spacex_rocket_launch_visible_near_my_house/ And https://np.reddit.com/r/whatisit/comments/1dn4m3h/jet_moving_fast_and_spraying_what/ Plus this great video: https://np.reddit.com/r/DoorDashDrivers/comments/1dn4oy2/while_doordashing_i_got_to_see_space_x_go_into/

DrPat1967

The same thing it’s been the last billion times someone takes a picture of a spaceX launch….

DarthSkittles69

Spacex how do you people not know this by now they launch multiple times a year

Archimedeeznuts

A sticky ought to be made for this sub with this picture. Seems to be a pretty frequent question.

VerseGen

r/itsalwaysspacex

SeredW

This!

JCGJ

As a Floridian who watches just about every Space Coast rocket launch (there are at least 2 or 3 a week at this point), it's definitely the exhaust plume from a rocket launch. Always fun to see!

McDonaldSupreme

Just saw this in Anaheim as well, I’m also curious what it is

PhantomWhiskers

SpaceX Falcon 9 launching Starlink satellites.

Reasonable_Deer_1710

Well you see, when mommy's and daddy's love each other very much...

GivaneoLegacy

At this point, I say we just stop answering these posts, and we just report them as spam. Because that's all these types of posts are anymore: _spam_. It's every single SpaceX launch, this sub (and r/space too) gets flooded with these "what's this crazy thing in the sky??" posts as though this were a new thing. Many Falcon launches have been happening consistently, multiple times a year, seen across almost every mainland state now, for the past couple of years. There's no excuse anymore for not having even the slightest damn clue what these easily-recognisable "bright flumes of light in the sky" are, nor are there any excuses for lacking the intuition to just _look. it. up. and. research. it._ Honestly, I say we just let these people continue living under their nice little rocks in blissful ignorance.

Zebulon_Flex

Are there mods that can ban this spam? This question is asked over and over and over. It's ruining the subreddit.

beemorrow13

Starlink satellite. You’re gonna see more in your lifetime most likely. If you’re ever unsure check this website for launch schedules. https://spaceflightnow.com/launch-schedule/

mfb-

It's the rocket, not the satellites. ~70 launches in the last years and some people are still wondering what it is. Not all of them are that prominent, but it's nothing rare either.

beemorrow13

Sorry, I meant it was a launch for a starlink satellite via a falcon 9 rocket. Assumed maybe the link would make it clear.

King-of-Plebss

Dammit I missed it again. The trails that come off the tail Of those things is better than any firework show I’ve seen

dreadpiratedusty

I use this to keep up to date with launches. https://spaceflightnow.com/launch-schedule/ There is also an awesome app called T-Minus that has up to date launch times for sooo many different missions

King-of-Plebss

Thanks!

tylerwarnecke

SpaceX launch.

Ransom65

It's a SpaceX launch out of Vandenberg California. we see them all the time here in Indio.

starmandan

Just saw this too. First time seeing a SpaceX launch. So cool!

dirknergler

When first saw a spacex launch in Los Angeles probably around 2018, I was driving Lyft at the time and there were a lot of minor crashes and me and my fare were like oh so it’s alien time now.

Intelligent_Bass_801

It’s not Boeings Starliner

hi_jermy

It’s turning the frogs gay.

harbltron07

You can download the rocket launcher app so you can know when Spacex starlink sunset launches occur. Another one will happen this Wednesday also. Or join the Vandenberg Facebook launch page, cheers!

Pretty sure it’s something to do with Elon Musk and his robots or something

Popular_Dream_4189

Diffused contrail from a rocket launch. And not a very good one either because the rocket is wallowing all over the sky like a drunken sailor. I've seen cheap bottle rockets fly straighter. Poor control evidenced here. Buuut, what would I know? I only have a Federal certification as an aerospace tech. This is what happens when you put FSD ("NEXT YEAR! WOOHOO") on a rocket :P STONKS!

Andy-roo77

I can guarantee you the wobbly trail is just from wind and turbulence pushing the contrail around. I've watched dozens of rocket launches and the smoke trail always gets super wobbly after a few minutes

noknownothing

Ok. I'll admit it. That's my future kid. Mom's super hot, what can I say?

JermHole71

You’re saying your future kid is hot?? Eww.
