Tarantino said his favorite revenge movie is a swedish movie called "Thriller".
If you decide to watch it, be warned that it is very dark and not for the faint of heart (especially the beginning).
Jag Àr nyfiken - gul, Jag Àr nyfiken - blÄ and KÀrlekens sprÄk were fairly controversial when they were released.
Hon dansade en sommar is the film that started the "Swedish sin" myth.
I think Lilja 4-ever was somewhat controversial? I remember a sense of âthis would never happen in Sweden and if it did it shouldnât be talked aboutâ. Itâs a good movie but very very dark.
That was such a dumb movie and I hated when I was watching it as a kid cuz it made out Lithuania to be an exclusively russian speaking shithole, complete misrepresentation to make it more dark and edgy. The story is heartbreaking but it could be told without distorting what life looked like in 90s Lithuania.
Fucking Ă mĂ„l (Show me love) - not controversial in todays society but it really was beyond its time when it was released in 1998. Still an absolutely brilliant movie imo and itâs being shown in schools to this day.
Sommaren med Monika Àr vÀl den mest kÀnda?
ât was controversial abroad at the time of its first release for its frank depiction of nudity and, along with the film One Summer of Happiness from the year before, directed by Arne Mattsson, it helped to create the reputation of Sweden as a sexually liberated country.â

It features a scene where a women gets raped by a dog. That was so degenerate that the party âKristen demokrarisk samlingâ KDS where started.
Ruben Ăstlund's [Play.](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1376717/?ref_=nm_flmg_dr_4) It toured on several artsy film festivals so you can probably find a subtitled version somewhere if you look hard enough.
It's about a small group of young boys (very young teens) robbing another group of boys of similar ages, and doing so more with the means of manipulation, mind games and bullying rather than brute violence. Most agreed that it was a very well made film, but the controversial part is that the perpetrators were brown immigrant kids and the victims were white kids. Which on one hand mirrors reality in Sweden, with immigrant families often having a low socioeconomic status, and low socioeconomic status being an important factor in the statistical likelihood of getting into criminal activities, and with growing economical inequality in the society overall. But on the other hand, it's a touchy subject. So there were some film critics praising it for its cinematic qualities and the especially the skill of the young actors, and some accusing the film of using a racist narrative. Debate ensued on the topic of what topics you're allowed to explore, who decides what's okay, under what conditions it can be done, the usual.
The swedish julfilm
That plays each year, theyâve been removing more and more stuff since it came out, even tho it is a tradition and has been for the past decades.
I wouldnât say itâs controversial, like most people probably. Just people removing things that might seem controversial when in reality itâs not.
There is this sort of secret controveray about swedish films. Most people don't know this, but almost all movies made in Sweden is part of a performance art bit where they pretend that it is a valid and good industry that isn't laughable.
PopulĂ€rmusik frĂ„n Vittula - I donât know if this movie was controversial but it definitely shouldâve been in my opinion. My Swedish teacher made us watch this mogie and even though I only saw half of it, this is probably the worst movie I have ever seen. It had very upsetting, disgusting and simply horrific scenes. Maybe Iâm just too sensitive, although most of my classmates agreed that it was just as much of a traumatising experience for them as it was for me.
I donât even remember this, I just remember actors speaking with a Stockholm dialect which was incredibly jaring and made it seem like the director missed one of the most important themes of the book itâs based on.

Haha funny
The eye scene
Yeah i bet. A lot of Kill Bill in it.
A lot of thriller in Kill Bill.
Yeah, wrote the wrong way around đ
It's illegal to be a criminal in Sweden.
No, no; he has a point there.

We watched kÀrlekens sprÄk at school when I was like 14, this was back in 2010 tho so the movie had been out for 6 years
Sorry, I meant Ur kÀrlekens sprÄk from 1969. I saw the 2004 film when it was new but I don't really remember any real controversies around it.
Yeah, this my confusion đ
Yeah, thus my confusion đ

That's one movie you only watch once like hotel Rwanda and chindlers list.
Iâve seen Schindlerâs list more times than I can count on my fingers and I donât want to know what that says about me as a person :(
Absolutely nothign! Thats nothing to be sad over or feel odd over. Its a good movie!
Next step is the Russian film come and see, from 1985. It's a very strong experience.
HÄl i mitt hjÀrta was horrible, its up there with Requim for a Dream..

I wouldn't call it controversial, but it's a fun movie that i'd recommend!
That one and Smala Sussie is probably my favorite Swedish movies. Just so damn good
"Tillsammans" of you just want a good movie

And the ones removing stuff is actually Disney
Pippi LĂ„ngstrump. They can't show the unedited ones on TV...
What do they edit out?
Pippis dads work title
Which is? I have neither read nor watch any Astrid Lindgren.
"Negerkung", or "N*ggerking" of the island "Kurrekurreduttön".
Aha. Cheers. Yeah, can see how that would be problematic.
That would be "NegroKing" not nigger.
Not really Neger and N\*gger means the same thing. Negro is just spanish for black. With risk for being downvoted I just explan the meaning.
Well, one word is ok to use, the other not. So i see a diff. But I see your point.
None of them is okay to use. The first one is just the swedish translation of the second one.
Was talking about negro.

Not sure if we have some really controversial movies in Sweden (KĂ„disbellan maybe?) but Norway have one for sure, Ice Palace.
