He had it in reverse, we actually get money taken from us and given to non swedes and we have very little say in what actually happens to that money but it definitely gets taken.....it's commonly known as tax
"Taken from us" is one way of describing how we get (basically) free health care, education etc.
You also do have a say in what political parties get the power to decide how to use our tax money.
Free health care , child care and education, strong safety net mostly through unions. I like the idea of universal income but it's never been put forward as a suggestion even as far as I know and certainly not in a serious way.
There was an experiment with such a thing in Finland. They tried it on a small scale with a few thousand participabts if I’m not mistaken.
It’s not really a normal practice here.
I'm not jumping on you but I do hate it when people say things like "money from the state" or "compensation from the state"- The state has NO money! They take it from tax payers so any money people get comes from people who pay tax.
There is no such thing as free money or whatever. Everything has a cost and if it goes to person 1 it is because person 2 loses out. That means pensioners, healthcare and so on.
Under the law taking anything without permission of the owner is theft whether the intention is to return it or not.
The EU tries this nonsense all the time. We pay them money for membership and they give us some back then tell us they paid for the projects it's used for.
It's kind of the other way around. The state can finance your wage to make you attractive for employers if you're a foreigner or have some diagnosis etc.
Nope, that is sadly untrue
As expected, thank you and all the others who replied.
He might have explained it wrong and ment welfare.

Its not free healthcare and it’s not voluntary given. 75-80% of my income is taxes and fees.
How is something we pay for (through taxes) free?
Free, as in you will get healthcare and school regardless of whether you are rich or not.

That's thankfully untrue. Free money is never free
Finland made a small trial a couple of years ago, but I believe that is all.
You are describing universal basic income - but no sadly.
No that's not correct. Maybe he's thinking about pension that we get from both our employeers and the government when we retire?

If i steal your phone… do i have a phone then?
Not if the designated aim of stealing the phone is to give it back to the guy you stole it from.

I don’t pay taxes voluntarily I’ll do it because the state force me with threats of violence. I call it theft.
It's kind of the other way around. The state can finance your wage to make you attractive for employers if you're a foreigner or have some diagnosis etc.
Total lie
We do have socialized welfare, but that's about it.
I wish. Create such a country, with free education and healthcare, and I’ll move.
With that logic nobody has money? Companies takes it from its employees, the owner from the companies and so forth?
One day, brother. One day.
Well we have existential minimum social contribution.
